Martin Dies, Jr. State Park Campground

Very peaceful. No one bothers you. Restroom/ shower was clean.

Nice park. Beautiful trees. Site 301 is pull through with plenty of room for 5Th wheel. Near water and kayak launch.

This may very well be the cheapest lakefront real estate in Texas. You simply cannot beat $15/night right on the water! Very quiet, and never crowded (in November). Decent cell signal, and great reception on my Transistor/Weather radio.

This is one of my top favorite State Parks in Texas. It a bonus that it's reasonably close to home.

Had nice spot right by the water. Kayaked by several gators. Very serene and beautiful park. Site was treed and  gorgeous.

Definitely bring bug spray for the mosquitos.

The park was very well laid out. Roads seem to have been recently repaved as well as the RV spots. We arrived quite late and it was extremely difficult to find out spot because of the lack of lights. Bathrooms are okay, a little cramped but decently clean, no AC though. Bugs were a little bad in the evenings. The spot we stayed at had a beautiful view of the water and a lot of space. We were able to get 3-4 bars of service with Verizon and about 50-60 Mbps.

We stayed in a tent at site 124. It was crazy windy when we were setting up our tent. This part of the park was really windy for two of the three days, but we still had a great time. Typical, nice Texas State Park. Nice sites. Enjoyed the hiking on wide trails. They did not rent canoes or kayaks because of the winds.

702 acre park, many sites on slews off a very large lake. We were in spot 308 across from the restroom and showers. Wide view of the water. $16 a night with 2nd night half off with a TX State Park Pass. Power, water, table, fire pit, wood $1 per piece. Parking spot was not level but other spots were. Verizon service was good. Lots of trees in the camp and in the water. Several trails. Our slew was patrolled by an alligator who was awesome to see. They have no problems with their gators.

Great view of the lake, easy access to put kayaks in the water. Park hosts patrol regularly. Firewood available for sale on an honor system fir $1 per log.

This place is awesome! I’ve never seems so much wildlife! Gators and great fishing! So much to see and do! Morning runs won’t disappoint!

This is my home park. Camped here last weekend. Always enjoy it . Staff very friendly and bathrooms are always clean. Come give it a visit you won’t be disappointed.

What a pleasant surprise. This hidden gem is gorgeous. Camped in site 102 along the water. Neat, clean, well-maintained. Staff were very helpful. Wish I could stay longer.

My new favorite park. The variety of trees is so beautiful. There’s huge magnolias , pines , maples and of course the bald cypress trees in the water are amazing. Some of the sites are huge, our pad was a little tight but we managed to angle in so we could still be on solid ground and pull out the slide out. The loop we were in does not have a bathroom but in my opinion was the best in the park. The trails are really nice and the kids had a great time scaring each other in the dark (it was really dark!!)

The park is big and wherever you go is really nice with great things to see and nice hike trails bathrooms clean. Great park

We have passed this place several times on trips to other places and finally decided to check it out the first of Nov. We rented a small rustic shelter / cabin. Essentially a slab walls roof with a heater and ac. It did also have a picnic table inside. It was actually perfect for my family of 3. This park was very quiet and was abundant with wildlife. We seen dear, armadillo, racoon, and a fox all close to our site. There were many trails to hike and the park a tally spans two sides of the highway be sure to explore both. This was a great camp for us and we will definitely visit again.

Stayed at site 333. Wonderful experience with the family. Lots to do and pet friendly.

This campground has been a favorite of ours for a few years. The large pine trees are picturesque against the backdrop of the reservoir. There are plenty of trails and lots of opportunities for fishing, even without using the paddle trails. I would recommend for anyone looking for a relaxing weekend close not too far from the greater houston area.

Family fun

Such a beautiful park that was extremely clean and easy to enjoy. Their map was very easy to understand and it was packed full of activities for all ages to enjoy. Can’t wait to camp and enjoy it again!!

Thia camp ground is owned and managed by Texas Parks and Wildlife. It is well maintained and kept. The RV camp sites are plenty big and the tent sites are big enough to pitch the large multi person cabin tents. The fishing is a amazing and the store is cool.

We came in late and left early, but it seems that there is quite a bit to do at the park. The lake is pretty and the tent spots are grassy and large. Clean bath house and nice showers. Mosquitos were out, but that's to be expected.

We tented here on a rainy weekend unfortunately. It was a nice site right near the water, and we saw a lot of wildlife like an armadillo, raccoon, and deer. We got out for a little bit to go for a walk and went to some of the trails which were scenic but super buggy. Bring spray and citronella candles!

Its a classic east Texas state park. The restrooms arent hotel quality but they are for sure better than a hole in the ground. The park itself is pretty and situated on a lake, providing scenic trails and water craft activities

Beautiful park but so many bugs. Did some canoeing, hiking and bird watching. A good park to get away from the city. The landscape is swampy but it was beautiful in its own way. A very good campground to see stars at night. It gets pitch black. Restrooms are very clean and the rangers are very helpful and nice.
