Lower Lee Vining Campground

Just a one night stop but the fee was 28.00 14 with a pass

Peaceful, lots of trees and wildlife (watch out for bears). Clean, nice tables and fire pits. Great place to hang out before or after Yosemite. Be sure to check with CalTrans on highway 120 road conditions before planning to cross Tioga Pass, it still had more than 20' of snow in places when I was there in June.

Several of the campsites were closed due to danger of rising water from the Lee Vining Creek, lots of water and snow melt to deal with.

Lots of spaces, not too close to each other. Was quiet while we were there. No showers, just portable potty. Don’t know if it’s normal but it was 30° when we woke up in the middle of June. Only took us 15 minutes to get to the National Park.

We camped here for one night in late October and the aspens were gorgeous!! The pictures really don’t do it justice, they are a must-see here. There is also a nice babbling creek nearby. It was a picturesque fall sight.

There campground is HUGE! But narrow rounds once you get past the main lot. There is no sewer hook-up or a grey water disposal site. The area was very quiet and there was a fire warning so more fires at the time. It was $14/night.

I would recommend staying here just for the aspens.

After a wildfire forced the closure of Highway 395, I ended up at Lower Lee Vining Campground for a night. Pleasant campground with clean pit toilets and a river toward the back side. Pay and put the envelope in the box. I got in late, but had lovely neighbors who invited me to sit by their campfire. They came up every year for the past couple of decades and said since the installation of bear boxes (which everyone uses), they had not seen any bears in camp. (The infamous "Yosemite bears" used to come down into camp apparently.) Cheap, nice, quiet and shady. I'd stay here again.

Stayed here during peak season for Yosemite. It wasn’t completely full. The spot that I had was tiny, but unfortunately one of the last available. There is a river that runs adjacent to it on the east side. The campground was well maintained even with the heavy traffic. The spots for RVs were apparent and a bit larger than those that weren’t. Not bathroom just out houses. I believe that the fee was $14. There were a good amount of trees for hammocks near the river. They had fire rigs for most of the sights, but not all.

Good location if you want/need someplace outside of the crowded Yosemite campgrounds, especially midweek. Many spots open when I went last August, whether you wanted something near the creek or among the trees. Easy access to Yosemite and Mono Lake.

Great campsite,its first come first serve. more relaxed and looser rules than most places I've been. Access to the tioga pass and about an hour and a half drive to Yosemite valley with no traffic. Many creeks and lakes near by. The one down side is that there is no running water. If need be access to the town is super easy and there a a gas station located near by. thebfishing in near by lakes is awesome was well. For sure making another trip in the near future
