No camping here

I came here to car camp with some friends for the weekend. And found that there are only four bullyan RV spots and one parallel RV spot. There are no electric or water hookups. There is no running water. There is no drinkable water. There are no fire pits. There's barely any shade. Car camping is not allowed tent camping is not allowed that's why I don't understand how they call this a campground

Otherworldly

Driving down to Southern California I came across these outstanding rock formations. Little did I know it was Red Rock Canyon California. This place looks like it's of another world of another time. And every corner you turn is like you're on another planet! It is the desert! There is no shade! It is hot! However the views are amazing and the rock climbing availabilities are extensive! These campgrounds come with a fire ring and a picnic table sparsely placed so you're not up in your neighbor's business. There are out houses with what I call Squat toilets that do not flush there is a drinking fountain and water spicket at the bathrooms there are no showers and there are dumpsters by the bathrooms so it's campsite does not have a trash can and leave no Trace please and tread lightly! This is a United States Forestry Department Park and camp site so please respect the rules! This was fun I came for a quicky through the place for the investigation but I will definitely be back to Camp for multiple days with my grandkids when it's not so hot!

LAVA FIELDS

Let me start out by saying I am a volcano Junkie. It all started with Kilauea! So when I saw a fossil Falls I had to go investigate when I saw lava Fields. They knew that I would come across mounds of dinosaur bones I was mistaken. However this place is awesome! Scorching hot in the summer time! Multiple campsites available sparsely spaced very budget-friendly. Every campsite comes with a picnic table and a fire ring. There are a couple of squat toilet locations that do not flush. There is no running water at the campsite however there is a well close to the pay station. It is natural spring water and you can taste how clean it is I love how there is fresh water in the middle of the desert! However there is zero shade! Best time to come here would probably not be in the summertime. Loved it I will definitely be back!

BUGS!!!!

Road through here on a road trip one hot afternoon when I needed to get off the road. I saw that there was a lake so I thought it would be a great place to camp. I travel in a Toyota Yaris and sleep in my car. This is a very big Campground with a lot of campsites; car camping, tent sites, RV sites and boat sites also. They all come with a fire ring and a picnic bench. The trees are very sparse. My mistake was parking under trees thinking that I could utilize the shade to sleep. I got eaten alive I have so many bites all over me that it seems like I have a rash. The ants are both black and red in the sand outside and they bite. There are also sand flies that bite and spiders that bite and the birds are relentless. This lake is amazing the water is clear and the perfect temperature too bad the campground sucks! There are no flush toilets and no running water. The price is cheap but I probably won't be back maybe for a dip on my way out of town. But this place is way too buggy for me

Use the BEAR BOX

Stayed here for one night on my way through Yosemite. Car camped in a Toyota Yaris end of June 2021. Limited number of spaces available. Very budget-friendly. No Reservations needed or required. The sites are close together they come with a picnic table a bear box and a fire ring. There is no usable water on property. No flush toilets. No showers. There is a man in charge of the campground in the very first sight to the left when you drive in look for the American flag. There are two bears that roam this property they come and check the property at night and in the morning and they will investigate every single site so do not leave anything out put everything edible in the bear box! Well I was here the Bears annihilated someone's ice chest that got left out overnight. Great trails Great hiking a lot of nature to look at in this area I like this campsite I wish it had running water at least one well pump would be great I know that the river was closed because I was able to get to it but I don't know how usable that water is. I will probably be back this is a great location! Check out is 2 p.m.!

Unexpected Oasis

First stop in my early summer road trip. Stayed for two nights. Easy self pay station at the front entrance. To get to the campground at the first right little dirt road before the pay station. Entrance into the park patch to the campground has a limited day-use fee also and there is group they use facilities with a large barbecue and outdoor sink that you would be able to wash dishes at if necessary. Great shaded spot in the middle of the desert. This was quite the unexpected little Oasis. Comes with peacocks. Limited number of spots available for tent camping or RV camping with no hookups. There are water spickets available and the park part of this Campground has flush toilets. The campground itself comes with a fire ring and a picnic bench. Trees are plentiful shade is wonderful the heat in this area in the summer time is Relentless but the shade is perfect at this location. There are peacocks on the property that apparently come from somewhere else I believe there are at least three of them they do make noise at night but it's not ridiculous unless there are coyotes on the property. Beware this is the desert there is wild life. Do not leave your food out at night. Bear boxes are not provided but keep your food items inside of your tent or your vehicle or lock them up. I did not have any issues because I am Savvy to the situation. I had a wonderful time hiking around and exploring the area through the trails making my way to the Carson River. This place is a gem and I will be back!

Small and wonderfully peacefull

Stoped by for 1 night on my way through the nevada desert on a road trip. Ended up staying 2 nights. Got a quick spot with easy pay. Had great shade. Water spikette is across the way with the trash cans. Fire ring had grilltop. The peacocks came to visit. The trails are easy. The day use area is big and has a great group use area with bbq, gazebo and sinks.
