      Sea Rim State Park Campground

      Sea Rim State Park

This is part of a huge refuge with marshes and seashores. We got a cabin (not sure if there is a tent or RV area) and it was really nice: AC, unfurnished kitchen, comfy bunkbeds, screened deck (bring your own kitchen supplies and bedding). I’m pretty sure the cabins are relatively new (as of 2014) because of a hurricane sometime in the past decade. Absolutely beautiful for a day or the weekend.

      Excellent park!

We originally had two nights booked at this campground, but after one night and spending a day on the trails here, we booked two more nights for a different campground that was available. We originally were insight 24, and then we moved over to site number six. Both of these two have no one beside them on one side, so it gave us some privacy and made us feel like we were really camping. Lol. It appears that a lot of people use this campsite as a stop over as they are traveling, because in the evenings it would fill up and then early the next morning lots of people would be gone. There are very spacious sites here, there were lots of very large bus RVs and fifth wheels. We have a small travel trailer, so we had loads of space around our campsite. Each paved and pretty level campsite has a nice paved picnic area with a picnic table and a fire ring. All of the hook ups were very well maintained. The dumpster is located near the bathhouse, which looks to be fairly new. There’s also a small laundromat here that I saw people going in and out of. Everything is very well-maintained throughout this park. The roads have obviously been repaved over the last few years, and there are nice cabins to be rented as well as spaces for tent campers. We saw a variety of birds while riding our bikes through the trails and around the swamp/marsh area. We also saw turtles and a few alligators. I record my GPS tracks when riding bicycles and we rode over 40 miles while there. The trails are a mixture of gravel and dirt, and there are shared roads. There were some more difficult trails, that we definitely would not ride again, but we saw other people that were very easily getting around on the trails. There are a lot of what seem to be local people who use this park for exercise, walking, running, bicycling, even people on scooters, people out, enjoying the solitude of sitting by the river, it’s really nice to see. The staff members that we encountered at the gate were very efficient and friendly. We ventured off site to a visit to a rum distillery for a tour one day and that was fun. There’s a nice dollar store nearby for any necessary items.

End Of The Road RV Park

      Peaceful Waterfront Park

Shaded Waterfront RV spaces and fully furnished cabins. Quiet, safe, and peaceful park. Wifi, 90ft dock, and aluminum boats free for residents. Excellent fishing. Monthly rates include water, sewer, electricity, and trash. Large shaded spaces. Dog park. Within a few short miles of the local refineries. Less than eight miles to major stores. We have two local golf courses, Bayou Den Golf Course is approximately three miles away. Tyrell Park features a golf course, horseback riding, botanical gardens, and scenic boardwalks approximately five miles from the RV park.

      Sea Rim State Park Campground

      Miles of Beach Camping

Or stay in the small, open campground with picnic tables, fire rings, water and electric hook up and a nearby comfort station. There’s an outside cold water shower and an elevated walkway crossing wetland to the beach.

The birding is absolutely fantastic so come with binoculars. I saw great flocks of Avocets feeding at the waters edge along with Willets, and a variety of sandpipers and terns including Caspian. There’s a paved trail to hike through the wetlands. Bug spray is essential.

Beach camping is available to any vehicle or camper. The upper beach sand is hard packed like a road and it goes for about three miles on the East side and about 10 on the West side.

I can’t say enough about the staff who became dedicated to rescuing me after a major storm dumped three inches of rain in a couple of hours causing an inland pond to overflow cutting a channel through the beach to the Gulf. I was stranded about two miles out in my 2X4 camper van for two delightful days before they brought out the heavy equipment and towed me across the channel and back to the real world.

Gas up in Port Arthur before driving down.

The clubhouse at this park just outside Lake Charles is seriously impressive. It’s huge and offers everything you could need from billiards, shuffleboard, a cozy reading nook, restrooms, a full kitchen, and tons of seating for parties or events.

There's also a super spacious co-working office space, which is rarely used, making it even better if you need a quiet spot to work.

The park also has a great pool, perfect for relaxing.

For $575/month it’s an incredible deal as electric, Wi-Fi, free laundry and the premium amenities are all included in the rent!

      Intracoastal Parish Park Campground

      Dave and DiDi Go Crabbing

This was our second visit to this nice campground. Improvements were made after Hurricane Rita, All sites are gravel with plenty of room. Each side includes a picnic table-- with those between the two boat ramps covered--as well as a garbage can. Easy access to water for fishing and crabbing at the park plus convenient location to national refuge and coastline to the south. Bathrooms were adequate, spacious, and clean. Dump site also clean. Walkways and docks along the canal with a fish cleaning station on main covered dock area. New playground equipment and meeting room (rental) but closed due to COVID-19. Agree with previous review about noise. We were further away and didn't notice road or water noise at night. Good TV reception with regular antenna. Also no problems cell phone reception (ATT). We will definitely stay here again. This visit we were in our 25 ft travel trailer,

      Sea Rim State Park Campground

The mosquitoes are serious here, but the beach is gorgeous.

This was a spur-of-the-moment trip from NW Arkansas so we could dip our toes in the ocean in the middle of winter. It's unfortunate that you have to go through Port Arthur to get to the state park, but totally worth it once you get there. WARNING: the mosquitoes are serious here. We have an Aliner and although we use pool noodles to seal gaps in the A-frame's roof, they found a way in--hundreds of them. We only stayed the one night because of it. Having said that, if you have a class A/B/C camper, you should be fine. I wouldn't recommend it to tent campers even with the best bug spray...and we went in December! Clean, beautiful facilities. You can park in a site, or if you don't want/need utilities, you're allowed to camp on the beach.

      Village Creek State Park Campground

      Little Hidden Gem

This is a small hidden state park that has rustic beauty. 25 campsites with electric and water, that can be used for campers or tents (tent pads at each site). We camped with a 27 ft camper, with barely enough room. Slightly unlevel, needed 2 blocks on left side. Each site has a tent pad, table, and firepit. There is a dump station. Extremely clean shower and bath house. Several hiking and biking trails, as well as a small beach area, kayaking, fishing, gazebo and playground. A nature center was on site which has activities for families on the weekends! Walk in tent camping without electric and water available. Our site #4 was only 16 dollars a night. Park rangers and camp hosts were knowledgeable and kind.

      Beautiful Cypress Swamp Camping

This is an RV campground, for the most part. But I slept in my SUV. The slab camping is not private, BUT it also is not overrun with bugs. Very park like in the camping area.  Restrooms/showers were clean and modern. The adjacent cypress swamp is pretty and has lots of paths to enjoy. There are cabin areas as well. Definitely would return.
