Best RV Parks & Resorts near Montgomery, TX

Thousand Trails Lake Conroe, Venice On The Lake, 7 Bridges Luxury RV Resort, and Old Wagon Trail RV Park provide full hookups for RV campers near Montgomery, Texas. Thousand Trails features 50-amp electrical service, sewer and water connections with sites arranged around Lake Conroe. Old Wagon Trail offers 50 concrete pads with both 30-amp and 50-amp electric options for larger rigs. The family-oriented Thousand Trails includes amenities like showers, restrooms, and trash service, while the adults-only 7 Bridges Luxury RV Resort caters to those seeking a more peaceful setting. Most parks accommodate large motorhomes with concrete pads and spacious sites. "The roads could use a lot of love and the activity center could use a few indoor games especially since it rains a lot during hurricane season. Other than that we really enjoyed our stays here this summer."

Full hookup sites generally remain open year-round throughout the region, with seasonal variations in availability. Several parks provide sanitary dump stations, though a reviewer noted one smaller park lacked this amenity: "I would have easily given Buck Acres 5 stars if they only had a dump station! It's coming!" Concrete pads are common at the higher-end resorts, while more rustic options may have less level parking surfaces. Most locations welcome pets and provide trash service. RV travelers seeking lake access should consider Thousand Trails or Venice On The Lake, both offering boat-in access points. Cell service generally remains reliable across these developed campgrounds, with several parks working to improve WiFi connectivity. During summer months and holidays, advance reservations are strongly recommended as parks fill quickly, especially for prime waterfront sites.

    Woodland Lakes RV Park

    Extremely Nice Park with Ducks!

Extremely nice RV park with large spaces and gravel parking area. Spaces are wide and have a picnic table on a concrete pad. Electric and water is separated, I hate it when water is on the electrical box! Internet speed is really good and they have cable TV hookups. Two laundry facilities, multiple dumpsters, kids play area, dog run, and multiple fishing ponds. There are a lot of long term patrons but still a good number of back in and pull through spots available for short-term. If you need to be in the north Houston area, definitely highly recommended.

    Stagecoach RV Park

Clean, well kept and friendly host.

This is more like a mobile home park for RV’s than a camping experience. Each space is a pull through that has a picnic table and full hookups including sewer. Most sites have trees. Most spaces are occupied by long term tenants as evidenced by skirting around the rigs. Evidently several children live here as well. There is a dedicated area to take dogs so they can do their business.
Quite a few speed bumps. No gates so anyone can enter/exit at will. Laundry room and bathrooms have locks. Bathrooms are clean and free hot water. Pool/hot tub were closed. I stayed 3 nights in April. It felt safe, so I’d stay here again. People said hello when walking and waved when they drove by.

Worst thing was the number of speed bumps…useful but not really RV friendly. I’ve added photos, and although I copied them from another source, they are valid photos of what I saw and experienced.

Stephen F. Austin State Park Campground

    Pleasant Texas State Park

We had a really nice relaxing stay at Stephen F Austin State Park near San Filepe, Texas. Great little state park easily accessed from I-10. The 38 RV sites are all asphalt pad pull throughs with 30/15 amp electric, water and sewer complete with concrete pad for table, fire pit, lantern and all well spaced for plenty of privacy...big rig friendly. They have an additional 39 tent only sites with water and 25 primitive. Screened shelters are reservable for tent camping with 20 amp electric and water plus one rustic cabin with amenities. There is a$5 daily entrance fee in addition to camping fees. The bathhouse facilities are brand new. It's a small park but they do have five miles of trails for hiking/biking with views of the Brazos River. We enjoyed the wildlife; deer strolling in the campground every morning and evening, birds, rabbits, frogs, turtles, a bobcat and numerous owls. They have a Nature Center; however it was not open during our visit. The park office has a small store with sundries and park souvenirs. The nearby San Felipe de Austin State Historic Site tells the story of early settlers to Texas and is worth a visit. We made a run to the nearby town of Sealy to do a much needed laundry stop...small community with grocery, dining and fuel to meet most needs. Rayford Crossing RV Resort

    Well Managed and Manicured

We had to return our travel trailer to the dealership for some warranty work and wanted to have one last little getaway before handing it over. We opted to stay somewhere in the vicinity of the dealership, and this campground had an opening. So, we booked one of the last remaining sites and hit the road!

Located in a suburban area north of Houston, the campground was very easy to find. It was nestled among nice suburban homes but still close to the amenities of a suburban city. We arrived after the employees left the front desk, so they instructed us to pick up our materials at the front office. We immediately noticed how well maintained this campground was. We easily found Site 21, a standard back in site. The sites are all concrete and level with a yard of grass and full hookups, which we really appreciate. We were surprised that our site didn’t have a picnic table like we thought, but we probably could have called to request one (wasn’t a huge issue in this July Texas heat).

This campground is more like a residential area. We noticed that many vehicles were gone early on a weekday morning. Many of the “campers” had potted plants and other items that indicated they were long-term occupants. There were many rules for the campground such as no items allowed on the grass or under RVs and no trash cans at sites, but none of these were unreasonable. Staff was visible throughout the day, often maintaining the grounds and collecting trash at each site (trash collection is each morning). It was extremely quiet, clean, and manicured.

Would we visit this campground again? Yes, if we plan to visit the Houston area for business in the future. We prefer the forest and the solitude that it affords, but this is a nice place to stay if you have business in the area. Rayford Crossing has amenities that may appeal to families with children such as a playground, beautiful pool, hot tub, shuffleboard, horse shoes, and fishing. The nice paved roads and sites and the dog park were nice as well. Our only complaints would be the price and lack of privacy, but I guess that’s to be expected in an RV resort near a major US city like Houston. Basically, it served our purpose.

    Jetstream RV Resort at Waller

    Great RV park!

We stayed here for about 5 weeks and loved our stay! Lots of great amenities and awesome staff! Friendly neighbors and a lot of full timers so not a lot of traffic or noise. The park was clean with full hookups, wide roads and level concrete pads. Pet friendly- our two doggos loved the dog wash station! Highly recommend!

    Jetstream RV Resort at Waller

    wonderful

We stayed here for almost five weeks, and we had a wonderful time! A wonderful team and a multitude of wonderful amenities! There is not a lot of traffic or noise because there are a lot of full-time residents and friendly neighbors. The park was spotless, and it featured wide roads, concrete pads that were level, with complete connections. Pet-friendly; our two canine companions absolutely adored the dog wash station. Recommendation heartily! contexto

Stephen F. Austin State Park Campground

    Okay State Park

Got to the park around 2:00 PM and pulled up to the stop sign in the second lane to use the bathroom and check in. Found out from a not-so-kind park ranger that we could not park and loiter at the front of the office building. There was a sign to that effect that we missed as most state parks have you park in front of the check in office and there wasn't really anywhere else to park with our 39' fifth wheel in tow. Check in was alright, but there was confusion concerning our Texas State Park passes for Disabled Veterans, which we both received a few years ago at another Texas State Park. For our stay here, only one person's pass was accepted and that pass was good for 1.5 people. Another employee thought we should each be covered with our passes and tried to add the additional pass in the system, but since we were camping, versus day use in a car, we could only use one. So, we had to pay$7.50 park pass for our 3 nites stay. Then she had to show the young man checking us in the rule book that showed we were entitled to the pass even though we were non-residents. This is the first time our passes weren't accepted to cover us both. After that we headed to pull through site 21 with FHUs but only 30 AMP. The wood posts and trees in this site determine how/where you park your rig. We needed our 15’ sewer hose and used a donut as there’s no screw in for the sewer connection. Water pressure was okay at around 40 psi. We got quite a few OTA channels and 3 bars on Verizon having no problem with internet and making calls using our MiFi. Most of the sites here are very spacious and well laid out so your neighbors are not close to you. Site 21 is one of the most spacious and we had no problem fitting our 39’ 5th wheel and F-450 on the pad. The restrooms/shower house in the RV area was clean and there was ice for sale at that location. What we really enjoyed about this park was the abundant hiking trails that interweave with each other. We thought the golf course in the park would be open, but it had been sold to a private owner and would hopefully open to the public in a month or so. The camp hosts were very friendly and helpful. Overall, we enjoyed our 3 night’s stay.

    Lake Livingston State Park Campground

    One of Our Favorites

We arrived 151 days after making our on-line reservations for the very busy Memorial Day weekend in Piney Shore Loop campground. This was our fourth camping adventure at Lake Livingston State Park in the Piney Shore Loop.

Pros EXTREMELY quiet during the Memorial Day weekend. Even tho not backed up to

lake, nice view of lake from Site#55. Double concrete pad as it is an accessible campsite. Very level concrete pad; no need to do any type of leveling. Nice early morning shade onto Site#55 Very good privacy from neighbor Site#54 and Site behind#48 Park ranger drive-thru about every four hours Restroom/showers good working condition, clean, ample hand soap and toilet paper. Recently paved park roads very nice upgrade Mosquitoes were drawn to those who strung lots of lights throughout their site, so many did not use those lights which resulted in good dark conditions for night sky viewing. 1-2 bars AT&T cell service. Lowes, Walmart and small HEB close by n the town of Livingston Cons. Campers requiring mobility assistance may find this campsite very challenging, even tho it does have a double wide concrete pad. Site#55 labeled as accessible but is very accessible unfriendly as it is not close to campground toilet shower facilities, fire ring is up a gravel hill on driver side of camper. Piney Shore Loop sewer hook up required 20 feet of stinky slinky. No privacy from Site#56. No privacy from the campground road. Picnic table in mud hole nearly the size of the table and very unleveled with one end higher than the other end. Unable to move picnic table as it is chained to concrete pylon. Picnic table not wheelchair accessible. No afternoon-to-evening shade what-so-ever. Site#56 campers permitted their dog to run without a leash. No park WIFI

Guide to Montgomery

RV campgrounds near Montgomery, Texas provide a mix of waterfront options and forested retreats within close proximity to Lake Conroe. The area encompasses over 21,000 acres of water recreation opportunities with summer temperatures often exceeding 90°F and mild winters rarely dropping below freezing. Concrete pads and full hookups are standard at higher-end resorts, while some smaller parks offer more basic amenities at lower price points.

What to do

Fishing opportunities: Multiple stocked ponds at Woodland Lakes RV Park provide convenient fishing without leaving the campground. "There are a lot of long term patrons but still a good number of back in and pull through spots available for short-term. If you need to be in the north Houston area, definitely highly recommended," notes reviewer Tony C.

Water recreation: Enjoy kayaking on Lake Conroe with borrowed equipment at Triple-B RV Park - Lakeside. "This is a cute little park with 30 some spots. The owners are fantastic and it feels like we are coming home each time we come. The owners offer corn hole and kayaks to borrow," according to Steph H.

Mini golf: Practice your putting skills at the on-site mini golf course at Thousand Trails Lake Conroe. "Gorgeous campground with a large lake and two ponds, a pool, putt putt, & tons of activities for kids!" according to Nick & Allyssa S.

What campers like

Clean facilities: Campers consistently mention the cleanliness of Noble Forest RV Village. "Such a great place friendly people and safe clean environment," says Jack C. The park maintains 51 sites with both 30-amp and 50-amp electrical service options.

Waterfront views: Sunset views over the water rank high on camper satisfaction. "Very nice sunset views. Enjoyed our stay," notes a reviewer at Venice On The Lake, where 70 of the 100 sites offer waterfront positioning.

Pool amenities: Swimming pools provide relief during hot Texas summers. "Spent time at the pool that overlooks the lake and grounds," mentions Greg S. about 7 Bridges Luxury RV Resort, an adults-only park that maintains a quieter atmosphere than family-oriented campgrounds.

What you should know

Internet access varies: WiFi quality differs significantly between campgrounds. "I booked this site because it shows wifi as an amenity. However, the wifi is a pay-by-the-day only offer," warns Russell E. about Thousand Trails Lake Conroe.

Site selection timing: At some parks, site selection works on a first-come basis rather than pre-assignment. "The campground is huge, and you cannot reserve a specific site. You drive around and pick a site, then call and let them know which one you're in," explains Debbie J.

Adult-only options: For travelers seeking quieter environments, Hillview RV Park provides a more peaceful setting. "Quiet and Clean. They have 3 shower restrooms, laundry room that is accessible 24/7, a fitness room, and a recreational room," mentions Connie M.

Tips for camping with families

Check age restrictions: Not all parks welcome children. "This is NOT a clothing optional or swinger park. It IS an adult only and NO KIDS park," clarifies Greg S. about 7 Bridges Luxury RV Resort.

Kid-friendly amenities: Look for parks with dedicated play areas and activities. "Gorgeous campground with a large lake and two ponds, a pool, putt putt, & tons of activities for kids! Retail cost is $60/night and totally worth it if you don't have a membership!" shares Nick & Allyssa S.

Consider noise levels: Family-oriented parks naturally have more activity and noise. "We enjoyed our time here in our full hookup site, but the campground was just too busy for our taste. There were vehicles constantly driving up and down the road in front of our site, and lots of children running around," notes Debbie J.

Tips from RVers

Site accessibility: Check site dimensions before booking for larger rigs. "Site 55 is NOT for RVs over 36 feet. We have a 42 ft fifth wheel and it was horrible trying to get into the spot," warns Deb J. about 7 Bridges Luxury RV Resort.

Maintenance considerations: Road conditions vary between parks and can impact the camping experience. "I walk the dog a lot and run and road around the grounds needs to be repaved, lots of pot holes and uneven areas," observes Karen B.

Proximity to amenities: Magnolia Oaks RV Park offers convenient access to nearby towns. "We stayed here on a recommendation and it was a great one indeed. We were only here a couple of nights for a short visit with friends down the street. It is behind gates and the service was very friendly and welcoming," reports Michael.
