      East Fork Park Campground

      Functional with good views

Pros: Great views of the water and wildflowers in the meadows. Reasonable price. Everything works and the shaded picnic tables are a plus. 5G plus signal on ATT for anything you might need online. Downsides: It looks like there could be a lot of water pooled on and behind our site with a heavy rain. The pad has definitely broken up over time and isn't level. The fire pit is also sitting at an angle. We noticed two groups of campers with 4-6 extra cars having gatherings last night, so that might have been distracting if we were right next to them.

      Quiet and Shady

The park is well taken care of. The sites are level and have plenty of shade covering. This is especially important if you are in a pop-up like us. If you are, you know what I mean. It was a quiet campground. Bathrooms were clean. The entry gate is coded after closing for some added security. Will return.

      Great State Park

I stayed for four nights and really enjoyed it. The sites are large and fairly private. The restrooms could use some work but they do keep them clean. There are a lot of great hiking trails with wildlife including deer, coyotes, armadillos, and butterflies.

      Nice Lake Front Campground

This is a nice campground on the shore of a small man made lake. The lake has a boat ramp and fishing pier. Some of the sites need minor repairs and the some disgusting person made a mess of the men's pit toilet but the a crew cleaned it in the morning.  The campground has decent views of the stars especially looking north. The site I chose was close to the lake and relatively level.

      Numerous Sites!

This is a review of scouting the area. Numerous sites to choose from, some pull thru, some back in. Water, tables, and fire pits at every site. Although the sites are close together there is plenty of space to spread out depending on how busy it is. Heavily shaded. Not sure how effective solar charging would be during summer months. We first scouted it on a Thursday, nobody was there. Pulled thru again a few days later and there were a number of hunters there. Plenty of space for big rigs. Pit toilets on sites, no trash. Would have stayed here, but opted for West Lake Crockett down the road due to stronger cell signal.

      Great campground

Great campground, electric and water. Only issue is the grass is always one high so bring a weed whip. We have family in the area, so we visit regularly and every time we stay here the grass is ridiculous otherwise I would give a 5 star!

      Beautiful, but beware of animals

I’m an avid camper and hiker but when camping here alone at night (no one else was in the tent camping area), my camp site was accosted by a family of raccoons. They were not friendly and not scared of people at all. Be careful if you have young children. Aside from this, the lake was beautiful, peaceful and serene. Camp sites are unique and right on the water.

      Only as a last resort

First, the good. The free wifi is pretty strong and the TV reception was excellent. Communication with the owners through email was promptly answered. We stayed a month and the electricity was decently priced. For the month in the Texas heat, our bill was about$75. It is a new park so all the utilities were functioning as they should.

The bad. To get there, you travel a rough dirt road that has had some oil put on it near the few houses that are there but that stops about halfway to the site. Otherwise, it is a dusty, rough road. It appeared that the campground doesn't have any sites that approach level. It is covered solidly with rocks, not gravel and some were quite large. A few of the campers had to have their back wheels off the ground in order to get level! The are no restrooms, showers, picnic tables or any other amenities, not even an office. The monthly is $550 for a"deluxe" site plus 3.5% processing fee when you pay with a credit card. The"deluxe" sites are the pull throughs and those that back up to the"pond", accessed by climbing up a steep incline. The pond appears to just be a stock tank. I've never stayed at a campground with sites as bad as this one and of course, I won't be back.

      Great Lake Campground!

The only reason I’m giving this campground 4 stars is because: the grass was tall at the campsite, could have been maintained better, RV pads are asphalt and not very level, only one bathroom has showers. Overall, we had a lovely Memorial Day weekend at this campground. It’s close to town just in case you need to make a quick trip for something. This lake is great for boating. There was a nice swim area and overall the campground was clean and quiet. There weren’t a whole lot of trees and none over the RV pads, so keep that in mind as far as the sun beating down on the camper. I’d still recommend this campground to a friend.

Doesn’t have a lot of bells and whistles but does have sewer, lake views, wide open spaces, and clean! Great food places nearby. Only drawbacks are I level sites and front gates don’t open til 10am every morning so can’t get back in if you go get breakfast.

THIS IS A GOOD PLACE TO CAMP!

OK. I’ve gonna say it. I ALMOST didn’t stay here because of the reviews although it’s convenient and there aren’t many other places to stay…. I’ve been full-timing for 2 years. I think I do a decent job of giving a place a decent review(good or bad). THIS PLACE IS A GOOD PLACE TO CAMP! Sure, the roads have some potholes… but I would rate the entire Dallas metroplex as WORSE. There is absolutely NO REASON not to camp here. The folks at the front gate were helpful. I avoided any rough spots in the road and arrived at a LONG and roomie site with a beautiful view of the lake. Although my rig is completely self contained, I checked out the water flushing toilets and they were spotless. I was so happy with this campground, I booked another night. There was some water around the water connection, but I stepped around it. The water worked perfectly. The Electrical hookups were properly wired. I backed in and used my extension power cord because the box was located midway from the rear. Since the space was so long… I could have pulled up a bit. I enjoyed my camping experience here. Any size rig will have plenty of room. It was quiet, had lots of space to walk the dog, the sites are spread out, the lake is RIGHT THERE, and all I can say, I’m glad that I made the decision to‘check it out’…

We stayed in a screened shelter at Lake Bob Sandlin SP in Nov 2020 and in a cabin with bunk beds last weekend and both sites were great. Tent camping is an afterthought.

Overnighted here returning home from a longer trip. It was okay for what I was doing, but I would never choose to camp here as a destination as a tent camper.

Activities: looking at the lake, bringing a boat to put in the lake, fishing. Seemingly nothing else to do.

Accommodations: clearly geared towards RVers. Each of those sites have water, electricity, and a sewer connection, with a covered cement pad with a grill, a table, and other relevant features. The few tent camp sites were shoved seemingly randomly between and around the RV sites. At my particular site, the concrete pad and picnic table were cracked and seriously damaged, and few grill was rusty enough to be almost unusable. The fire pit and ground of the rest of the site were littered in bits of trash ranging from things like food wrappers, pieces of plastic hangers, and my personal favorite - a construction nail.

The only bright light of this camp experience for me? The bathrooms. Each bathroom ( 2 per building) was a single occupant bathroom with a locking door. In the bathroom was a sink, a toilet, a hand dryer, and a shower with two nozzles at different heights (tall and short). The appliances were stainless steel, and the bathrooms were clearly excellently maintained. The bathrooms also had automatic lighting, an exhaust fan, and what appeared to be a tiny space heater for colder months. The showers had hot water, and the drains in the floor were sufficient at getting all the excess water out of there quickly.

In summary, if you have an RV and/or a boat and love to do things on the water, this is probably a fine campground. If you are taking a tent, I'd avoid this campground.

      Not a favorite

I found this park to be maintained poorly. The sites are close together with little shade and are all in a big, level circle with limited to no view of the lake itself. When we were there the grass was at least a foot high, creating no play space for the kids in the ample open areas.  There is an area with equestrian sites. Overall, it seems more of a day-use, non-appealing area.

      Nice, local stay!

This park is a nice local place to visit. It has full hookups and the sites are extremely distanced from one another which is great. The main thing to do here is to boat or fish, however the platforms are extremely in disrepair - literally falling into the lake (see photo of us trying to load the kids into kayak from the submerged platform).  The ones we saw were actually dangerous.  Every single site has a unique view of the lake, even those high up on the circular arrangement. Our site was very unlevel on the hill, so bring your chocks. It rained and rained while we were there, but we still had  a nice time with the grandkids. And it's close enough to Dallas to make a reasonable place to stay. There are zero amenities there - the playground mentioned in ads no longer exists.

      Spacious sites, overgrown grass

Man, this would have been a great little camp ground if the grass wasn’t so overgrown. Nothing like taking a nice shower and then having to walk back to your campsite in 2 feet of grass and get bit up by all the bugs in the grass! The bathrooms were clean and campsites were spacious. Pretty view of the lake.

      Great campsite

The park was great, very clean and the park rangers were very helpful.

The bathrooms weren’t the best but they were clean and had showers with hot water. There were only 3 shower stalls in the bathroom near us and they were very busy in the evening. They were completely empty at 7am though.

The atmosphere was fantastic! Great tall trees, oversized and private campsites.

Park store didn’t have a lot but did have ice and firewood for sale along with a few trinkets.
