      Piney Point

      Nice clean COE campground

Nice well spaced sites with level concrete pads. Lots of trees for shade in most sites. Beautiful views from the sites on the bluff. It has been quiet every time we were there . Playground ,boat ramp , nice clean showers and rest room. the staff has always been helpful. Most sites are water and electric but there may be some with full hookups . If not , there is a dump station . Very family friendly . No swimming area , but at my age that is not a big deal.

      Shreveport Bossier City KOA

      Not to sure

Did an extended stay here, 3 months while working in the area. The staff is great and very helpful and friendly. The dog park is nice if you have them. Park is well maintained. There are only 2 reasons I couldn’t give them more than 3 stars, 1) on monthly rate they charge for electric which I get but it continued to go up even though outside temps continued to drop so no need for my A/C units. 2) During the last 4 nights of my stay there were multiple times I heard multiple gun fire in the area.

Lots of in and out traffic. I would recommend if your passing through the area and need to stop for a night or two but not long term.

      Beard's Lake Campground

      Works0

      OPEN: Year round

      Sites: 5 paved sites

      Fees: $13.00 (Mar-Oct) Sites with no hookups $10.00 (Mar-Oct)

Limit: 14 days Day use fee:$5.00 Sitting below the dam is a tiny well maintained campground. Heavily wooded across the site. Picnic table, fish cleaning table, trash, toilets, playground, fire pit, pedestal grill, water and electric hookups. Pads are back in hard surface. Nice space between sites with medium amount of trees and shade. Sites 1 and 2 are like double sites you have shower access and a dump station one mile north at Beards Bluff Park. Beards Lake is an oxbow lake and is one of the top fishing lakes in the country. Area surrounding the recreation area is open fields, swampy grasslands and heavy hardwood forest.

      Johnson Creek Camp

Beautiful place on Lake 'O the Pines, but crowded campsites

I stayed here for five nights in mid-March. The campground is a mix of tent/RV loops and has multiple boat ramps into Johnson Creek which feeds into Lake 'O the Pines. I was in site E210 (RV area 2). Place was packed over the weekend, cleared out quite a bit during the week. I check out all four RV loops, and it's one of the most crowded COE campgrounds I've seen (and I've seen a lot). Site spacing in pretty close, but slightly better than commercial parks. I lucked out on E210, it was a pull-through that perched overlooking the lake. It was among the more private sites. Fairly level sites in loops, some asphalt, some concrete. Water/Elec, picnic pad and table and fire rings at all sites. I would definitely recommend and go back but pick your sites carefully if you want privacy - think Google satellite view or Google Earth. Pretty decent cell signal for Verizon, so-so for ATT.

      Ramblin Fever RV Park

      Close to Restaurants and Shopping

I stayed for 4 nights from a Thursday through Monday. The owner is very nice and helped me with choosing a drive thru site. It is well maintained. Mix of long term and short stay resident s. It is near a busy arterial highway so it's not especially quiet. The hookups worked great. I was two spots from the very front of the park. I used Passport America pass for my first 3 nights. I felt safe. It is very pet friendly. Keep dogs on leash and clean up after them. I have 3 black labs. No fenced dog park yet, so I drove them to the city park with tennis courts every morning to run free. I will most likely stay here again. I mostly boondock in the forests, but when I need a place to resupply and take care of business needs, this place is very nice.

      Buffalo Bayou RV Park

      Not what we expected

Made a reservation via telephone for two days a month in advance, but was not given a site number. When we pulled up to the office there was a note with a telephone number to call, but no answer. I saw a gentleman walking around and it appeared he saw us. After waiting about 10 minutes, I decide to driver further into the park. The gentleman I saw earlier was one of the owners/ managers, I would would have expected him to go to the office to meet the newly arriving guests. I will say that he was friendly enough and later, his wife stopped by to collect the fee and she too was friendly. The park itself has full hook ups and is on the banks of the bayou. The campground require you to sign a waiver because of the water moccasins from the bayou and because of the potential of falling tree limbs. The. Campground is pretty sandy so leveling may be problematic for big rigs. The do allow long term guests to store all kinds of equipment and gear, the site next to us look like a junk yard. Our fellow campers seemed friendly enough with the gentleman on the other side from the junk yard introducing himself.

Texarkana RV Park & Event Center

      Great park, but tight spots.

Texarkana RV Park is a very nice, clean, and friendly RV park. They have a gated entrance for extra security. The park has nice amenities such as pool, playground, laundry, restrooms, dog run, and park-like setting with duck pond. Most sites are pull-thru and plenty long, but narrow. Beware of your slide placement before parking, as site poles may be in the way of a slide fully opening. Each site is gravel with a patio and they have 50 amp FHU. We enjoyed our stay at this campground and would definitely stay again. 👍🏻😊

      TravelCenters of America RV Park

      EASY OFF INTERSTATE ACCESS

We came here for a quick over night stay. Right off interstate by gas stations and food. We were in a pull through spot, which was level, but barely long enough for our truck and 30 ft camper. Full hookups (bring extra long electric cord!), picnic table, showers, cable, dog park, and extra parking area noted. No fires allowed. With Good Sam our spot was 34.00 which was quite reasonable.

    Guide to Atlanta

Atlanta, Texas camping areas offer a mix of forested sites and lakeside locations for outdoor recreation. The terrain features sandy soil in many RV sites, sometimes requiring leveling equipment. Most campgrounds in this region connect to waterways like Caddo Lake, Buffalo Bayou, and nearby fishing ponds, making water activities accessible from camping locations.

    What to do

Kayaking nearby waterways: Buffalo Bayou RV Park provides direct access to paddling trails through cypress trees. "This is a quiet, quaint park with the most beautiful views. There is a kayak rental right next door which is a very short paddle to the camp. There's a small boat ramp at the park so putting in is easy. There's 3 trails close to the park. Trails took 1-2 hours depending on which one you take and how fast you paddle," notes Malae H.

Fishing opportunities: Shady Pines RV Park includes a catch-and-release pond where anglers can try their luck. According to Jody J., "We choose A4 backing up to the catch and release pond. We caught many brim in the pond." Hope Springs RV Campground also offers a catch-and-release pond for recreational fishing.

Visit Caddo Lake: While staying at Pine Island RV Park, you can access the unique cypress-filled ecosystem. "Caddo Lake is the place to see here, and since you can only see it via Caddo Lake State Park, or Caddo Lake National Wildlife Refuge, you must really use a boat, kayak, or canoe to get the full experience," explains Lynn G.

    What campers like

Peaceful environment: Many campers appreciate the quiet setting at RV parks near Atlanta. At Amazing Acres RV Park, Rob W. reports, "Beautiful place to stay with the most amazing owners. So friendly, so attentive. The place is clean and peaceful."

    What you should know

Wildlife considerations: Buffalo Bayou's waterfront location means potential wildlife encounters. "The campground requires you to sign a waiver because of the water moccasins from the bayou and because of the potential of falling tree limbs," notes steven B.

Connectivity varies: Cell service can be inconsistent at campgrounds near Atlanta. At Pine Island RV Park, Lynn G. reports, "There is no - and I mean zero AT&T service here." In contrast, Hope Springs RV Campground has excellent connectivity with "a cell phone tower across the street, so its terrific 5g signal."

    Tips for camping with families

On-site amenities: When traveling with children, campgrounds with recreational facilities make visits more enjoyable. At Texarkana RV Park, Vanessa M. notes, "Spot has plenty of amenities, cabins, RV spots, playground, pond, pool, and an event hall."

Water activities: Families can enjoy water recreation at Buffalo Bayou RV Park, where Jason W. recommends, "Great paddling trails and about 100 yards from Big Cypress Bayou connected by a boat trail."

    Tips from RVers

Site selection: At Shady Pines RV Park, Jody J. suggests, "Friendly service at check-in. A couple of sites were available for us to chose from... Level site. Metal picnic table. FHU. Plenty of space between our neighbors."

Road conditions: Watch for entrance road quality at rv sites near Atlanta, Texas. Jason H. advises about Sunrise RV Park, "Only downside is there are several potholes on the entrance to the campground. Have to go very slow."

Monthly stays: For extended visits, consider Hope Springs RV Campground. Luann K. recommends, "Great campground for a short stay or longer occupancy. The RV sites are double sized and pull through. I recommend this park as a home base for nomadic RVers."
