    Shreveport Bossier City KOA

    Not to sure

Did an extended stay here, 3 months while working in the area. The staff is great and very helpful and friendly. The dog park is nice if you have them. Park is well maintained. There are only 2 reasons I couldn’t give them more than 3 stars, 1) on monthly rate they charge for electric which I get but it continued to go up even though outside temps continued to drop so no need for my A/C units. 2) During the last 4 nights of my stay there were multiple times I heard multiple gun fire in the area.

Lots of in and out traffic. I would recommend if your passing through the area and need to stop for a night or two but not long term.

    Lake Bistineau State Park Campground

    Beautiful state park

Lake Bistineau is a great state park park near Shreveport, LA. We stayed 2 nights. The sites are very shady. The park streets and sites are asphalt. Some roads need repaving. The park was clean and quiet, and the staff was friendly. Unfortunately, the lake was drawn down to eradicate an invasive water plant. But, this presented a unique opportunity. We could walk on the dry lake bottom and see the parts of cypress trees that are normally under water.

Stayed in back-in campsite#14 which was level side to side, but the front was higher. The site has a nice view of the lake and a large wooden deck. There was just enough parking for my 34 ft TT and truck. Neighbors are nearby, but not too close. The site included: picnic table on concrete, BBQ pit, trash pole, and fire ring. Utilities: 20/30/50A electric in back. Water in back, good pressure. No sewer, but a dump station is available.

AT&T had 2 bars of LTE and Verizon 2 bars of LTE service. AT&T Speedtest: 5.1 Mbps down, 0.7 Mbps up. Verizon Speedtest: 7.4 Mbps down, 0.1 Mbps up. No WiFi.

Would stay here again. We camped at Lake Bistineau State Park in a Travel Trailer.

    Lincoln Parish Park

    Quiet Weekend with Fun Activities

We stayed at spot 32. It was a very quiet spot that had a lot of shade but still had a view of the water. Close to the restrooms but not much through traffic. Large wide spots with paved cement made it easy to park and level. Full hook ups were nice. Trash cans were at every other campsite. There are only 33 RV spots at the park so it makes for a great getaway with not a ton of people. The site had good Verizon cell service, 2 bars with about 40-50 mbps. The walking path around the lake was really nice. The bike trails were really fun. They even kayaks for rent on the lake for a reasonable price. Overall the campground had great amenities and made for a great weekend getaway. We camped at Lincoln Parish Park in a Travel Trailer.

    TravelCenters of America RV Park

    EASY OFF INTERSTATE ACCESS

We came here for a quick over night stay. Right off interstate by gas stations and food. We were in a pull through spot, which was level, but barely long enough for our truck and 30 ft camper. Full hookups (bring extra long electric cord!), picnic table, showers, cable, dog park, and extra parking area noted. No fires allowed. With Good Sam our spot was 34.00 which was quite reasonable.

    Beaver Dam Campground

Home of the Sugsr Cane National Recreation Trail

Great US Forest Service campground especially if you enjoy hiking, biking or fishing. The Sugar Cane National Recreation Trail loops around the lake. The campground is a loop with approximately 30 large and level sites with electric and water hookups. Some are on the lake and some more wooded. All feel very private and spacious. There’s a dump station nearby. The sites are $25/night.

    Tom Merrill Recreation Area

    Outstanding

Beautiful and well kept. Bathrooms smelled great and clean. Shower hot and clean but needed a shower head and a touch up of paint. Bank fishing is good. Trails, a few exercise equipment, playground, and friendly hosts makes for a wonderful experience. Concrete pads, electric, water, grills, and fire pits all well maintained. Cell service operational but not top notch. Site 8 and 17 best for tents. Definitely would stay again.

    Grand Bayou Resort

    Friendly and Quiet

I stayed at site 29 and the site was clean and level enough for my small camper. I went to plug in the power and the box was very old and no 30 amp plug. It only had a 50 amp and 110v plug. I have a 50 amp to 30 amp adapter but for some reason it was not in my box. I did have a 30 amp to 110v adapter so I had to go that route. There is a nice laundry, men and women’s bathroom with showers. On the men’s side of the 4 toilets 2 were out of service. The showers the water trickles out with little pressure but there was hot water. The showers along the walls need cleaning as there was mildew and maybe mold. The rest of the park was clean. The beach area and peers were very nice. There was dozens of people that are clearly living out here in the campground. Lots of them are really junked up. I paid $32 per night. You can tell this campground is minimally maintained given the broken toilets and unclean showers. The folks I met out here were super nice and very friendly. Fishing is really good and the swimming beach seemed very nice. They do have locked gates with security that makes rounds.

Guide to Minden

RV camping near Minden, Louisiana offers distinct options ranging from small family-owned parks to lakeside accommodations. The region sits in the northern part of the state where pine forests dominate the landscape, with temperatures ranging from 30°F in winter to over 90°F during summer months. Seasonal rain can create muddy conditions at some parks, particularly those with unimproved roads.

What to do

Fishing opportunities: Gavel Falls Cabin Rentals and RV Campground features a private pond on the property for fishing. "Nice concrete slabs for RVs. Fair gravel roads, 3 very nice log cabins, at least 2 covered RV spaces. BBQ grills and fire pits are brand new. Private pond on site," notes one camper.

Swimming access: Hilltop Campgrounds & RV Park provides a pond for fishing and swimming, with tall pine trees offering some natural shade. "This park is set back off the road, it has two small laundry facilities, a gym to exercise, a pond for fishing and or swimming and lots of tall pine trees," according to a visitor.

Overnight convenience: Southern Living RV Park (formerly Kelly's RV Park) serves as a convenient stopover for travelers. A camper reports, "Stayed for a quick stop, 1 night. Manager was super nice and helped us out over the phone. Had a nice pool and big restrooms with showers."

What campers like

Full hookups: Lakeside RV Park offers comprehensive amenities for extended stays. "We called from the road got an awesome spot by the lake. Needed a rest for $125 for the week includes full hook up, showers in the bath house. Laundry coin laundry. Wifi," shares one satisfied visitor.

Clean facilities: The shower and bathroom facilities at Cinnamon Creek RV Park receive positive mentions. One visitor notes, "Clean bathrooms. Excellent space in the two bathroom/shower combos. Very clean floors and laundry area."

Easy access: Proximity to Interstate 20 makes some parks convenient for travelers. "Easy access from I-10. It's on the south side of the interstate not the north as shown on the map. Mostly filled with long term rentals but keep clean and nice," reports a Southern Living RV Park visitor.

What you should know

Cell service variation: While the existing description mentions carrier differences, signal strength can vary significantly between parks. "Cell service is awesome and a store right there on the property," notes one Lakeside RV Park visitor, indicating stronger connectivity than at some other locations.

Long-term residents: Many parks primarily serve monthly residents rather than short-term campers. "This site is between two roads and surrounded by businesses. Someone took our spot while we were at dinner and the office was closed and unreachable," reports a visitor to Southern Living RV Park.

Changing management: Gavel Falls Cabin Rentals and RV Campground has transitioned to KOA ownership, altering some policies. "This new KOA is ok for an overnight stop while passing through. They recently completed construction on new concrete pads at the front of the property with a swing, picnic tables and fire pit at each site."

Tips for camping with families

Pool access policies: Check pool rules before arrival at certain parks. "It is required to shower before using the pool but there is no shower or bathroom at the pool. The lodge is reserved for other paying patrons. You have to wear a pink paper bracelet to prove you are allowed access," notes a visitor at Gavel Falls.

Road noise considerations: Some properties experience traffic noise that might affect light sleepers. "On a highway in a very impoverished small town. Road noise constant," reports one Cinnamon Creek RV Park visitor.

Off-site activities: Hilltop Campgrounds & RV Park provides an on-site gym for exercise options during inclement weather. "Very reasonably priced for monthly stays," notes a visitor who appreciated the added amenities.

Tips from RVers

Leveling challenges: Prepare leveling blocks as some sites require adjustment. "It took a little work to get level," notes a visitor to Southern Living RV Park.

Site availability: Call ahead rather than relying on online reservations, especially for short stays. "Office was closed. No gate, no security. Called number to check in and seemed to ruin older woman's day by calling," reports a Cinnamon Creek visitor, suggesting phone reservations can be problematic at some locations.

Shade concerns: Summer temperatures can make exposed sites uncomfortable. "Absolutely zero shade which was terrible during this heat wave with 105 degree days," reports a Gavel Falls visitor, highlighting the importance of selecting shaded sites during hot months.
