## Overview

Hanks Creek Park has something for everyone, with plenty of water sports on Sam Rayburn Reservoir and volleyball, mountain biking, wild life viewing and birding for those who want to stay on shore.   
  
The Red-cockaded woodpecker, an endangered species, is found throughout the forest surrounding the reservoir. The bird makes its home by pecking cavities in large, living pine trees.

## Recreation

Fishing is excellent for largemouth bass, crappie, catfish and sunfish, with frequent fishing tournaments. The lake is also popular for jet skiing, water skiing and swimming.

## Facilities

The park features 47 campsites with electric hookups. Additional amenities include group camping, a playground, boat ramp and hot showers.

## Natural Features

Sam Rayburn Reservoir, also called Lake Sam Rayburn, boasts over 114,000 surface acres, making it the largest man-made lake completely in Texas. It's surrounded by the Angelina National Forest, and is within short proximity to the Sabine and Davy Crockett National Forests. 

## Nearby Attractions

The 20,700-acre Bannister Wildlife Management Area is on the northern peninsula of the lake. Hikers and bikers can come here to explore the designated Eastern Wild Turkey restoration site.

Shirley Creek Marina & Campground

Located on Boykin Springs Lake in Angelina National Forest, this recreation area offers a little of everything, including camping, hiking, fishing, picnicking and relaxing in nature. It is situated in eastern Texas near the Louisiana border. The facility has both a campground and day-use area. The group shelter must be reserved; the campground is first-come, first-served. Natural Features: Boykin Creek and the nine-acre Boykin Springs Lake both pass through the facility, and the Sam Rayburn Reservoir is nearby. The area is forested with pines and hardwoods. Wildlife is abundant, and the region is a hot spot for migratory birds. Recreation: The group picnic area provides direct access to the Sawmill Trail, a hiking trail that winds through the forest to the Neches River and the Aldridge Sawmill Historical Site. Waters are calm and quiet; only non-motorized boats are allowed. Facilities: The group picnic shelter accommodates up to 74 guests and is available by reservation only. It is adjacent to the hiking trail and creek. The campground has several standard sites for tents and RVs, as well as a few tent-only sites. All campsites are first-come, first-served. Drinking water, flush toilets and hot showers are available at the campground. Nearby Attractions: The National Forests and Grasslands in Texas have trails for a variety of outdoor activities, including nearly 200 miles of hiking trails, 85 miles of off-road vehicle trails, 145 miles of horse trails and 11 miles of bicycle trails.

Boykin Springs Recreation Area

## Overview

Ebenezer Park features some of the most beautiful horseback riding trails in southeast Texas. It's the only Army Corps of Engineers park on Sam Rayburn Reservoir with equestrian campsites, making it the go-to destination for horse-owners. The horse trail terrain is soft and sandy, so horseshoes are not required. Trails glide over rolling hills through creeks and gullies. Some trails even have beach access, allowing riders and their horses to cool off on a hot day. Note: The horse access beach and majority of the trail system are located on USFS property.

## Recreation

In addition to horseback riding, activities include fishing, picnicking and swimming. Birding is also rewarding, with chances to see resident wood ducks and migratory birds on their journey to and from the Gulf Coast.

## Facilities

Ebenezer caters best to equestrian campers and tent campers. Equestrian sites have electric hookups and horse corrals near each site. Ebenezer Hall, an enclosed building with a full kitchen, A/C and heating, is available for reservation.  
  
The park does not have a boat ramp, and the nearest boat ramp is four miles down at Twin Dikes Park.

The campground, near the Sam Rayburn Dam, is fully shaded by towering pine trees.   
  
The lake is located deep in the woods, bordered by the Angelina National Forest and near the Sabine National Forest.

## Overview

Twin Dikes Park is located on the waters of the Sam Rayburn Reservoir, in the Piney Woods of southeast Texas.   
  
The region lies in the migration path of warblers, vireos, and other species of neotropical migrants, so spring is an opportune time for birders to visit the park.

## Recreation

The lake is a highly popular recreation destination for boating and fishing. Game fish include largemouth bass, bluegill and channel catfish. The abundance of bass in the lake, has inspired more than 300 annual tournaments.

## Facilities

The park features 43 campsites with 30 to 50 amp electric hookups, hot showers, a group picnic shelter and boat ramp.

## Natural Features

Twin Dikes is on the southern shore of Sam Rayburn Reservoir, in the Big Thicket region of Texas, the densest portion of the Piney Woods, a region characterized by temperate coniferous forests.   
  
The 114,000-acre lake was impounded in 1965 along the Angelina River, and has an average depth of 80 feet with average clarity.

21.56 acre homestead in the Piney Woods of Deep East Texas that you will have the freedom to explore, hike, bike, and camp on without pesky campground neighbors breathing down your neck! 

  

Our grounds are maintained much like public lands would be. We don't want to feel like a campground- we strive to maintain the integrity of being out in nature- there's plenty of"campgrounds". 

  

We will limit the number of reservations to always ensure that hidden spot in the woods feel when you stay with us! Each campsite will receive a fire ring and portable camp toilet system. We do offer an outdoor hot/cold shower for our guests. 

  

You're encouraged to bring your fishing gear as there multiple opportunities at the areas famous fishing holes including Lake Livingston, Lake Conroe, and Lake Sam Rayburn- just to name a few! 

  

If you are a mountain biker- feel free to bring your setup! We would encourage help in designing a great ride through course! Hiker- we have you covered there as well! 

  

Bring your horses and enjoy riding on our property- we dont have stalls or a barn for them, but you are welcome to graze them for hours and ride them freely on our land. 

  

ATV's are welcome to be used on our property so long as our property and other guests are respected. 

  

We will be building this campground as we go, using input from our guests! We offer loyalty bonuses, too! 

  

Due to having no paved roads- 4WD currently recommended. 

  

Children and well behaved furry family friends are welcome to join us. We do have livestock you are welcome to interact with including pigs, roosters, miniature horses and more as we are also a farm animal rescue and sanctuary. 

  

The park as a whole will be under constant growth and expansion. As a result, prices will evolve as amenities are added.
