A primitive site offering solitude and scenic views near the Rio Grande, though visitors should expect wind exposure and occasional nighttime disturbances from cattle.

Not too deep in the backcountry

I’d pick this site if you want to get out there on the river road but aren’t sure your car can make it to the deeper spots. This campsite isn’t too far off the paved road near Castolon. Very wide open, great views of stars. Limited shade.

Endless moos

The campsite is on top of a hill overlooking the brush near the river. It was really windy at night and throughout the night cows kept mooing. The only good thing about the site is it’s 15min of off-roading from the nearest paved road.

Buenos Aires 1

Great primitive site close the Rio Grande River and Mexican Border. We saw no one the entire time we were there. The road is fairly rough with some deep sand but any dirt road capable vehicle should be fine. One star knocked off because you can see the orange street lights from the Castolon area, although they do not impede the view of the stars. Awesome views all the way around.
