Reservation timing: For holiday weekends, plan even further ahead than normal. Winter preparedness: When staying in cabins during colder months, bring extra layers and supplies. "We have stayed at the park for Christmas Eve the past two years. Had the Adirondack shelters to ourselves each year," shares Travis S. about Forest Ridge Campground. "Firewood is available but you have to donate some cash, split it and haul it to your shelter."

Tips from RVers
Site dimensions: Many cabins are near RV camping areas with varying site sizes. "Most of the sites are pretty close together, though," observes Mike C. about Kalyumet Campground, suggesting requesting specific sites if space is important.
Hookup access: Check the specific location of utilities before booking. "We plan to return but our only complaint would be the site we were in (11) and others next to it were quite far from the water and cable hookups," advises Ember M. who needed extra equipment at Kalyumet.
Level parking: Some campgrounds have uneven terrain. "Its a nice place, great creek and woods. Most of the spots will require leveling blocks," notes Isaac R. about Clear Creek State Park Campground, which applies to parking areas near cabin facilities as well.
