Within the Fremont-Winema National Forest, Scott Creek offers six first-come, first-served sites accessed by a rough gravel road that demands patience from drivers. The campground sits alongside Scott Creek, providing the sound of running water and a remote atmosphere that attracts hunters and campers seeking solitude.

Multiple reviewers emphasize the challenging road conditions, with large ruts and holes requiring speeds around 5 mph for the final stretch. Adrian J. recommends taking Panhandle Road on the north side of the creek for the most direct route, noting that Google's suggested paths can lead down unnecessarily difficult roads. The drive extends what appears to be a short trip into an hour-long journey.

The campground provides vault toilets, fire rings, and picnic tables, but no water or hookups. Campers consistently report having the area to themselves, though the sites fill during hunting season. "Very nice, quiet, clean, and simple campground," describes Brittney G., noting the creek's proximity to the campsites. Summer visitors should prepare for significant mosquito activity.

For those preferring easier access, Sand Creek Station provides a more accessible alternative with maintained road access.

Off the grid but easy to access.

It was first come, first served when I was there.  What you expect from free USFS campsites. Fire rings.

Google will take you down some crazy roads. Look at the map before getting on the dirt road and choose the roads that are the straightest; those will get you there easiest. Panhandle rd on the north side of the creek will take you most of the way.

Awesome campground!

We had a great time camping at this free campground! Its secluded but pretty close to HWY 97, which is nice! There was a vault toilet there, but no other facilities so make sure to bring enough water, wipes, the whole 9 yards! We came the dat before hunting season opened so we got the last campsite of 6, as this camp seems to be popular for hunters!

Sitethe last site, didnt have #.

Beautiful spot!

Had the campground to ourselves! The campsites are next to a creek. It almost too good to be true. The road was great!

Not worth the drive in

We attempted to camp here for the night but after finally making it about a minute away from the mapped location we decided to turn back to find literally anything else. The drive in is a very bumpy road requiring you drive about 5 mph, turning what looks to be a short drive off the highway into about an hour plus excursion. The road never improves once you turn off the highway, it only narrows. If you want to be in the thick of it, or maybe need somewhere to a burry a body this is your place.

Off the beaten path ...

First word of advice - the gravel and dirt road is not well maintained. We had trouble with some sections of the road with large ruts and holes.

This campground is remote so if you are looking to be alone, this is the place.

Be prepared for mosquitoes, LOTS of mosquitos. 🦟🦟🦟🦟

private simple campground

Very nice, quiet, clean, and simple campground. plenty of available spots I’ve been out here twice and still haven’t seen another camper. Pit toilet available but no hookups. There is a neat little creek right by the campsites. It’s a little ways off the main road and feels a bit secluded.
