Great Overnight Stop But Mosquito Galore

This place is really beautiful and peaceful, sites are leveled and sunsets are incredibly gorgeous. We were warned that mosquitoes would be a problem here at night by a local fisherman and boy they were not wrong! We have one of those bug lights you put outside to attract and kill bugs and the thing was overwhelmed! The lake was stinky for some reason which we would a whiff of every once in a while. Didn’t really see any bugs during the daylight hours though. In conclusion if you are tent camping, set it up and get in before it gets dark and do not open the door for any reason specifically if you have any light in there or you’ll be overwhelmed. We have a 28ft travel trailer and spent the night just fine.

Great low cost overnight just beware of bugs

This was a perfect spot between Bend and Boise for me and my pup. Lots of spots, Not busy, and everyone is spread out. I thought it would be cool to be near the water but the smell from the birds and the relentless bugs made it unbearable so we moved back as far as we could and just did day walks to the boat ramp.

Nice overnight stop. Early season so not many sites taken. Sites are all pull through, level and gravel. No trees or shade. Picnic tables and fire pits.

Quiet and Peaceful

Campsites well spaced; many right at water’s edge. This is off season so very few campers here. Can be very windy.

Good overnite spot

We’ve camped here before on our way to the coast. It’s cheap and I have bell service. (I am using a bell , but probably don’t need it.)

BLM Campground

A nice setting for dry camping. Beautiful views of the high desert country just west of Riley, OR. Sites are gravel and mostly level. Pit toilets are located in the park. It’s our 3rd time camping here, and the first time seeing the reservoir completely dry!

Not Much Here!

Not much here since the lake dried up. It is a good stopping place for a nite or two if your traveling this way. The sites are pretty big. We had plenty of room for our 5th well and truck. It was not crowded at all this Memorial Weekend, as there is not much to do…sad to say. It is very quiet and dark out here. Oh and the wind can get a bit strong as well! There are NO trees to hide behind.. Ha! Ha!

We obtained fuel and water from the Shell Station in Hines as we passed through from Salt Lake City. The staff there are very nice and friendly! We did see a Hines Market just as you got East out of town that has a Dump Station, if you need. Not sure how much space they have for big rigs to maneuver around.

Magical Place

There is no water in the reservoir at this drought time but the campground is well maintained and quite lovely. 360 degree vistas. Quiet. It is likely much busier when there is water, assuming that happens.

No frills but perfect for what I needed

The reservoir was empty when I was there, but I just need a place to sleep with good cell signal. AT&T worked well enough that I was able to work from site. Barebones site but the pit toilets were clean and I pretty much had the place to myself.

Gem in the Dessert

We pulled up at 11 PM and had several lots to choose from. Gale winds made for a nice rocking to sleep. Clean and excellent stargazing skies.

Amazing location for BLM camping

We stayed one night here, and it was amazingly peaceful and quiet. We expected dispersed camping, but were pleasantly surprised by the campsites. No hookups, but a picnic table and grill/firepit were at every campsite. Pit toilet buildings were located in several areas. Sites were semicircular with gravel. Easier to disconnect/hookup tow vehicles in the paved parking area by the boat launch/ramp.
