Insect preparation: The region has specific insect challenges. "I'm not used to what're gnat like bug they have so plan accordingly they are attracted mostly to light but swarm both day and night. I wear a hat with a net so they don't bother them," advises one camper.
Grass burrs: Water-Zoo Campground grounds can present challenges for horses and humans alike. "The only negative thing I could say was that the grass was a little long and there were grass burrs everywhere," reports a recent visitor.
Cell service limitations: Connectivity may be unreliable in certain areas. "Cell service is very limited going in and out of no service," notes a Foss State Park visitor.
Tips for camping with families
Water park option: The Water-Zoo indoor water park provides an alternative activity for families camping in the area. "Our plan: spend a few days at the campground and let our 12 yo son enjoy the Water Zoo," shares Jasmine B.

Tips from RVers
Site selection: At Roman Nose State Park, RVers recommend specific sites. "We stayed at RV Site #39 at Two Lakes & enjoyed our stay. It was a clean site with full hookups, picnic table, fire pit and spaced well from the other sites. If we returned, would stay at #40, but #37, 38 & #39 are good sites," advises Leslie N.
Shower amenities: Be prepared for coin-operated showers at some locations. "The new restrooms at the Canyon Vista are extremely nice. It has 4 individual Bath Suites; however bring quarters for the hot showers," notes a visitor to Roman Nose State Park.
Low branches: RVers with taller vehicles should proceed with caution. "Be careful of low hanging branches if you have a taller RV," warns Brian F. about navigating within Roman Nose State Park.
