Many cabins come equipped with basic furnishings such as beds, refrigerators, and sometimes private bathrooms. The Lebanon KOA offers cabins with queen beds, twin bunks, and sofa sleepers, plus amenities like single-cup coffee makers, refrigerators, and bathroom facilities with tub/shower combinations. "The adorable cabin fulfilled my tiny home dreams and camping craving! The cozy cabin had a queen bed, twin bunks and a sofa that made out to a full size sleeper. Kitchen included a fridge, sink and single cup coffee maker," noted one visitor. Cozy cabin cured my camping craving!

The adorable cabin fulfilled my tiny home dreams and camping craving! The cozy cabin had a queen bed, twin bunks and a sofa that made out to a full size sleeper. Kitchen included a fridge, sink and single cup coffee maker. Coffee k cups were provided in a few different varieties as well as sugar and creamer packs. Bathroom had tub/shower, clothesline to dry swim suits or hand-washed clothes, toilet, sand sink vanity. Bedding and towels were provided and were crisp, clean white. WiFi was a bonus and although it wasn’t the fastest it was very useful when looking up nearby activities. Our cabin had a grill, an outdoor table with four chairs, a swing and a fire pit which we enjoyed our last night there. Staff was friendly and helpful. There were laundry facilities within the park and lots of activities but we didn’t take advantage of any of that during our brief stay. Overall, we were very pleased and would gladly stay again!

Roughing it by a creek and a pioneer village

Basic car tent camping at several spots along a creek wIth picnic tables and fire rings (no hookups, portolet toilets, no showers.) There is a rustic scout cabin/group lodge reservable for scout, etc. groups. The park features a pioneer village with log cabins, including a blacksmith forge, etc. that have been moved to the site.

    Winton Woods Campground

Love this campground for a weekend rendezvous!

Winton Woods campground has spacious paved RV spaces with full hook-ups, fire ring, and picnic table. They also have cabin and tent camping. The location is located on the lake with access to put in a kayak or canoe. The bathrooms are clean, with private combined shower/dressing stalls. There is a playground for children, and a camp store that sells firewood and supplies. I love the tall pines on the property. They made me feel like I was out west. The campground is also near paved and unpaved trails in the park that surround more of the lake which allows for walking/running/hiking and bicycling, fishing, small craft boating, with small craft boat rentals available at the marina. The park also allows for horseback riding, and a small water park for children in the summer.

    Winton Woods Campground

Great county park in a beautiful setting!

This is a great county park! It has a nice “campground” feel set in a large pine trees and wide sites but has 50-amp full hook-up sites. The campground is set in Winton Woods County Park which is about 20 minutes from downtown Cincinnati.

There are 123 campsites including RV sites, tent pads, and camping cabins. Most RV sites are back-in but there are 12 pull-thru sites. There is a myriad of sites here from 50-amp full hook-up with paved pads and patios to 30-amp gravel sites. Sites have fire pits, picnic tables. Campsites in the front section (1F – 25F and 1R – 12R) are big rig-friendly with paved roads wide enough to easily maneuver. All utilities worked accordingly and were well-placed in the site. Our 4G Verizon phone got good reception and we were able to get plenty of antenna television channels. The online reservation system is easy to use and gives you an array of sites/cabins to choose from. Be aware that lots of people use this park on the weekends so it can get quiet busy.

There are lots of amenities at this park. Within walking distance of the campground is Winton Woods Lake which has a harbor with boathouse, snack bar, boat rentals and playgrounds. There are miles of paved and rustic hiking trails. There is a camp store, dump station, laundry, restrooms/shower house, boat/kayak launch, and fishing access. Located in the park is a golf course and horseback riding center.

You are within a few miles of everything … grocery, gas/diesel, restaurants, and plenty of shopping. The park is close to I-275 and I-75 making for easy access to major interstates. One place you should not miss is Jungle Jims international grocery and market. This totally eclectic, sprawling "grocery store" has so much to offer. They pride themselves on providing unique foods from all over the world. I could spend hours in this store perusing the isles of which are sectioned off into country and region. There are entire sections on Indian foods, wines, cheeses that you have never heard of, and tanks with live fish ready for the filleting. Also within close proximity is Greaters -one of the country's best ice cream shops (according to Food and Wine). Just down the street is a new person favorite sandwich shop called Izzy's which is famous for their corned beef and delicious potato pancakes.

Loved this park because you have a very nice campsite with 50-amp full hook-up site with lots to do in the area. Our site was level and the roads were easy to navigate in our motorhome. The paved trail around the lake was great for walking/jogging and perfect for launching our kayaks.

We would definitely stay here again.

    Paint Creek State Park Campground

    Premium sites are

We paid extra to have a "Premium" site, which meant we got a deck. That deck held our picnic table,  but there was no room to put our camping chairs. And though we were close to the lake, you could not see it through the trees. We could barely get out of our trailer and into the driveway without falling into a ravine. The fire pit had to be put on the back side of our trailer next to the road as that was the only spot it could fit. We were told to check out other sites in case we want to come back. Ha. The staff knew no one who had ever been here would ever take this site! But... we won't need to check out other sites as we'll never come back.

    Cowan Lake State Park Campground

    Just plain nice

Although it’s quite a bit off the main road, it was a nice place to stay. Gate was manned when we arrived just before 8:00 pm. Clerk told us to book online once we picked our spot, as she had just closed the register. We just chose an open spot that was level as we could see in the dark. Weary from a day of travel, we put our heads on the pillow and were fast asleep. Shortly after 9 we heard several rounds of gun shots; that was alarming because it was well after sunset. All in all it was a nice spot with electric only. Several gray water dumps were situated throughout the campground. Dumpsters were full from I’m sure what was a busy weekend of fall camping. The lake was beautiful with ability to rent kayaks. Frisbee golf was onsite too. Commissary for ice and basic sundries, with playground nearby. We didn’t visit the bathhouse, so I’m unsure of it’s condition. Tenant sites with no electricity were down by the lake. Cabin rentals were in a separate spot, off the lake. All in all, in was a nice place with lots of things to do. More of a destination park, for sure.

    Dayton KOA Holiday

Beautiful setting, lots of trees and a steam that runs through it.

We stayed in a small cabin with a swing on the porch but there are many lodging choices. A stream ran behind the cabin. It has a pool and lots of kids activities. Gravel roads aren’t great for small kids learning to ride bikes but ok for older kids and adults.

    Nice KOA

A nice KOA, with fire pit areas and picnic areas. Each state has a picnic table and the gravel site that we had was level. There is a group yurt for rent a nice little store, and quite a few cabins as well as gazebos and other gathering areas. Wi-fi is horrible even with a booster and sketchy over the air channels.

    Really Well Done

There are cabins, campsites in trees, campsites that aren’t. There’s a nice Mixture of available sites. All the employees are very nice and helpful. They really work hard to maintain the site. The pool is nice. There is a nice play area for kids. They have a short path in the woods which is a nice little loop. Great location with lots to do!

Guide to Zoar

Cabin rentals near Zoar, Ohio offer overnight accommodations in heavily wooded settings within 30-45 minutes of the historic village. The region sits in the eastern Ohio hill country at approximately 948 feet elevation, with most cabin properties situated along the Little Miami River or near state park lakes. Water access is a common feature at these locations, though cabin proximity to water varies by campground.

What to do

Fishing opportunities: At Stonelick State Park Campground, visitors can catch bluegill and catfish from the shoreline. "Amazing views of the water and surrounding wooded areas. Good place to fish for bluegill and catfish," notes Lisa S. in her review.

Biking trails: Olive Branch Campground provides easy access to the Little Miami Scenic Trail. "The campground was only about three miles from a trailhead on the Little Miami Scenic Trail," according to Cindy B. The paved trail connects to multiple towns and recreation areas.

Water activities: Morgan's Canoe and Outdoor Adventure offers riverside cabins with canoe, kayak and raft rentals. "Morgan's is amazing! They have been around for a few generations and provide canoeing, rafting, and kayaking at different trip lengths for a great price," says Carolyn M.

Nature walks: Cabin guests at Cowan Lake can access the park's interpretive trails. "The trails here are easy and short. I loved the informational boxes and tags that they had on the trees or plants. This is helpful if you have little ones with you," says a Kenpocentaur K.

What campers like

Private bathrooms: Lebanon-Cincinnati NE KOA features deluxe cabins with private bathrooms. "Bathroom had tub/shower, clothesline to dry swim suits or hand-washed clothes, toilet, and sink vanity," mentions a reviewer who appreciated these amenities.

Lake views: Cabins at Cowan Lake State Park offer screened porches overlooking the water. "They also have a porch that is screened in with a view of the lake. You are not able to walk down to the lake from the cabin but it is a lovely view," writes a visitor.

Woodland settings: Winton Woods Campground cabins are situated among tall pine trees. "I love the tall pines on the property. They made me feel like I was out west," notes Anne H. The cabin area feels secluded despite being only 20 minutes from downtown Cincinnati.

Campfire amenities: Most cabin sites include fire rings, though some properties charge for accessories. "Be warned it's also $5 to rent a grate for your fire pit," mentions Sars C. about Morgan's Canoe and Outdoor Adventure.

What you should know

Seasonal availability: Most cabin rentals operate from April through October, though Olive Branch Campground maintains year-round cabin availability. "This camp site is far enough to get away but close enough. This means that everyone can easily get there after work," notes Kenpocentaur K.

Reservation requirements: Weekends typically require 2-night minimums, with 3-night minimums for holidays. Morgan's Canoe cabins cost "$60.00/night for 2 Adults and up to 3 kids(3-16 years of age). 2-night minimum required for weekends and 3-night required for holiday weekends."

Noise considerations: Some riverside locations experience significant activity, especially during summer. "The noise was not the greatest. They assured us that there was a night person who monitored noise and partying, and there were signs everywhere saying that quiet hours started at 10, but a group of loud, drunk men right on the river were allowed to yell and make a ruckus until at least 2am," reports Megan M. about one riverside property.

Linens policy: Most cabins require guests to bring bedding and towels. "Please remember to bring your own linens, Morgan's does not supply sheets for the cabins," states a reservation email shared by a reviewer.

Tips for camping with families

Child-friendly recreation: Winton Woods Campground offers numerous family activities close to cabin sites. "There is a playground for children, and a camp store that sells firewood and supplies. The park also allows for horseback riding, and a small water park for children in the summer," shares Anne H.

Protected play areas: Cabins at Cowan Lake are arranged in cul-de-sacs with shared central spaces. "Nice cul-de-sac areas for groups with areas for kids to play. Ground is pretty level so bringing a bike for kids to ride on is nice," recommends Renée C.

Educational opportunities: Several parks offer nature programs for children. "This is helpful if you have little ones with you or if you are like me and just like to learn about the animals/plants on the trail," mentions one visitor about Cowan Lake's interpretive signage.

Safety considerations: Riverside cabins require extra supervision for young children. "We were a little nervous as the cabin is so close the river. This is part of the charm but when you have a 3 year old in your group then it is smart to keep an extra sharp eye on the kiddo as the river is a huge draw," advises a Morgan's Canoe visitor.

Tips from RVers

Campsite spacing: Olive Branch Campground offers good separation between cabin and RV sites. "Sites are spacious and ours backed up to a wooded area," notes Cindy B. The campground maintains distinct areas for different accommodation types.

Seasonal maintenance: Early or late season visitors should check site conditions. "When we arrived, we found that none of the back in sites had been plowed! All of the pull through sites were plowed and there were plenty open," warns Denise about a winter visit to Winton Woods.

Utility considerations: Full hookup availability varies greatly between properties. Camp Cedar provides full hookups at RV sites adjacent to cabin areas. "A campground that has full hookups and really neat cabins. The campground was just completed Aug 2021," reports Elana C.
