Best RV Parks & Resorts near Mineral Ridge, OH

CAMPER SUMMARY PRESENTED BYFord

RV camping options near Mineral Ridge include Chestnut Ridge Park and Campground with 115 sites available from May to October featuring full hookups, big-rig friendly spots, and 50-amp service. Roundup Lake RV Resort provides similar amenities with pull-through sites that accommodate larger rigs, though spaces between units are somewhat limited. "The sites are close but shady and large enough for trailer and our truck," noted one camper about Roundup Lake. Thousand Trails Kenisee Lake in Jefferson offers water and electric hookups on sites that require careful leveling, while Brady's Leap Ohio Turnpike RV Lot provides a convenient year-round option for overnight travelers with water, electric, and sewer connections.

Most area RV parks enforce a 5 mph speed limit within their grounds, particularly those with seasonal residents or families. Dump stations are available at nearly all established campgrounds, though not all sites offer full hookup capabilities. During summer weekends, popular locations like RV Village Camping Resort tend to fill quickly, especially for pull-through sites. Water pressure varies significantly between parks, with some campers reporting iron-laden well water issues at certain facilities. Pet-friendly policies are standard across most campgrounds, though breed restrictions may apply. Many parks close for winter between mid-October and May, with the exception of Brady's Leap which remains operational year-round for through travelers.

    Tomlinson Run State Park Campground

    Nice little State Park

Tomlinson Run is a small state park situated in the northern panhandle of West Virginia nestled between eastern Ohio and western Pennsylvania. Plenty of things to do there including but not limited to…. Mini golf, hiking trails, biking, swimming, fishing, paddle boats, parks for the kids, and of course the camping. The campsites here are mainly gravel pads with the exception being the asphalt handicapped spots (2). Most spots are 30 amp with a few 50 amp (new for 2021). The park also has a few primitive spots available and some yurts and cabins to rent. I have a 38’ fifth wheel and the spots are tight for it (even the couple pull thru). Campground facilities are clean but dated. They state new facilities are coming soon. The campground is at the top of a hill and the spots are wooded and shaded. I would consider the camping to be spaced generously (room to stretch out). They have a small camp store and information available. A breakfast is available during peak season for a small fee. They do have water and a dump station available (free for campers to use).

    Thompson/Grand River Valley KOA Holiday

    Happy Camping

Relax, breath, and camp. Perfect spot.

This Campground is quiet, full of fun, for families or older people. Beautiful area.
Many pull through lots, with patios. 50. 30. Full hookup, (sewer and Electric) back in, pull through, tent sites, cabins, teepees. Swimming pool, private bathrooms and showers. Fishing lake, swimming lake, trails. Children play areas. Basketball, bad mitten/volleyball, Dog wash, dog parks (2), private fenced dog sites. (2)- pull through site. Golf cart rentals, and seasonal sites that are being updated, but all are decorated nicely, and kept up.
KOA is revamping some of this campground. Work in progress, but awesome stay.

    Thousand Trails Kenisee Lake

Great spacious park with 2 lakes!

Kenisee Lake RV Resort Thousand Trails in Jefferson, Ohio is a another great Thousand Trails park! This park is very large and has a park-like setting with 2 lakes. There is fishing on the lakes and the campground has rowboats available to use. They have all the amenities a family could want such as swimming pool, playground, mini-golf, and more! The staff is friendly and very accommodating. Kenisee Lake has 30 and 50 amp FHU back-in and pull-through sites. The only downside is the internet which is lacking in this area. We have really enjoyed our stay here and will be returning! 👍🏻😬

    Bear Run Campground

    Loads to do...!

This campground is deceptively big! The nightly RV sites are close to the park entrance and are relatively flat. The campground hosts themed events, game nights and arts& crafts. There is a swimming pool and playground for the kids. It also has a small café that sells baked goods and coffee. On Saturdays they sell amazing Armish Donuts!

Further into the campground the sites turn to more permanent sites. Further up the hill are more cottages and camping. This campground is steep in parts and too large to walk efficiently. There is a fenced dog run area and a beautiful lake. All sites have fire rings. There is an onsite laundry, WIFI, onsite dump station and propane refill station.

You can also buy ice and firewood. The campground is gated. Lots to do at the campground and lots to do in the surrounding area. They welcome all furry friends!

    Atwood Lake Park Campground

    Incredible!

The Atwood Lake Campground is a true gem in a beautiful area of eastern Ohio! We’ve visited the Atwood region many times in the past but have never camped - but after this visit we’ll be back for sure. The campground is relatively new, with the campground area being completely revamped beginning in 2017. There are two overnight camping areas with seasonal sites in a separate section; we stayed in “Camp H” which is the newest area. There is a huge bathhouse with two sets of men’s and women’s restrooms and shower facilities along with a very nice laundry area. Adjoining the bathhouse area is a beautiful pavilion and children’s playground - all of which overlooks Atwood Lake. The campsites are nicely spaced though if you’re in the inner loop as we were or even some of the outer ring sites you’ll be looking right into your neighbor’s site. All sites are FHU on level concrete pads and include a metal picnic table and fire ring. If needed there are two very well equipped dump stations if you prefer to use them instead of the sewer connection at your site. Many sites are on cul de sacs directly on the lake with docks and fishing areas adjacent to the campsites. Lots of hiking trails, paved bike paths, a swimming beach and restaurant are in a nearby area. We loved the campground and will return soon!

    Raccoon Creek State Park Campground

    Raccoon Creek Camping

This is a large state park offering electric only sites

The sites are set amounts the forest and there are several loops to choose from. Loop F is pet friendly. All sites are within walking distance to amenities

Amenities are quite run down but functional

Wildlife is beautiful and its a short ~10min drive to the beach area of Raccoon Creek lake.

Two (2) dump station spots and fresh water taps location throughout the park

NOTE: Many sites are not level, you will require blocks/timber to level out campers. Tent campers should choose their site using the photos on the state park site.

All sites have a paved car space.

    Streetsboro-Cleveland SE KOA

    Outstanding site in great campground

Stayed on a premium patio site and loved it. The campground and staff were awesome. Level site, great hook ups, awesome WiFi and cable. Clean facilities, 3 lakes (one with a fishing pier), 2 dog parks, and super friendly staff. 30 min to Cleveland. Walmart, gas stations and restaurants within 5 miles. Just off Ohio Turnpike, but can't hear it. Definitely recommend this KOA

    Really nice!

Very well maintained campground with lots of amenities, esp for kids (pool, playground). Generous sized sites, not too close together. Looks like quite a few long-term RVers here. Cute chickens wandering around. Hiking trail accessible from the campsite. Heavily wooded and quiet, but not too far off interstate.

    Tomlinson Run State Park Campground

    Very wooded campground

General: 50-site (all but six with electric hookups) campground plus two yurts and three cabins. Two sites are handicap accessible.

Site Quality: The sites have gravel pads (except the handicap-accessible ones which were paved). The sites were completely covered with leaves when we were there which made it challenging to determine where the actual (narrow) pad was. Sites appeared to be level. A fire ring and wooden picnic table complete the site.

Bathhouse: A little dated but clean. Two of the stall doors did not latch properly. Didn't use the shower so cannot comment but there was a sign indicating it took a while for the water to warm up.

Activities/Amenities: There is a small camper store, laundry, and a playground. In season, there is lake swimming and a boat dock. There is a fishing area, mini-golf and disc golf, and several short hiking trails. Unfortunately, since we arrived late afternoon and had to depart early the following day (and were camping off-season), we could not take advantage of any of these things. What we lose in activities, we gain in a quieter camping experience with fewer crowds, which is generally preferable for us!

Guide to Mineral Ridge

Camping near Mineral Ridge spans areas from Mahoning County into Trumbull County, with many sites positioned along water features. The region sits between 1,000 and 1,200 feet in elevation, with summer camping seasons typically running May through October. Most campgrounds in the area enforce quiet hours between 10 p.m. and 8 a.m.

What to do

Fishing at lakeside sites: Kool Lakes Family RV Park offers prime waterfront locations for anglers. "We stayed here 28th-30th of August. It's been my kids favorite so far this yr, probably mine as well. Main reason we had a vacant lot on either side of us and our lot (a24) was right on water," noted one camper who mentioned their children fished from sunrise until noon.

Explore hiking trails: Nelson-Kennedy Ledges Quarry Park features unique rock formations with trails for different ability levels. "We chose to hike here on a day where there might be rain...turned out to be the perfect decision as we killed 3 hrs just walking around mostly covered trails. Only one steep hill to climb and it wasn't bad at all," reported one visitor.

Take advantage of water recreation: Campgrounds with swimming lakes provide summer entertainment. "The Quarry is beautiful and fun to fish, swim, 'cliff jump', and relax! There is a small 'town' at the campground where food and souvenirs can be purchased," shared a camper about Nelson-Kennedy Ledges.

What campers like

Community atmosphere: Chestnut Ridge Park and Campground receives praise for its welcoming environment. "When I first got here the 2 owners went above and beyond in so many ways. Unfortunately they didn't have a 50 amp site available so the owner gave me 30 amp converter at no cost and also helped me hook up my gray water and black water connections," reported one camper.

Access to outdoor activities: Multiple lakes and recreation options keep guests entertained. "It is beautifully set up with a small lake for swimming, playgrounds, pavillions, games, events, music etc. Level gravel sites with really great grassy areas," noted a repeat visitor at Chestnut Ridge.

Proximity to regional attractions: Kenisee's Grand River Campground provides a strategic base for exploring northeastern Ohio. "Stayed here for a girls weekend in Geneva at one of the tent sites... Located within a matter of minutes to several wineries in the area," shared one camper who appreciated the convenient location.

What you should know

Site leveling challenges: Some rv parks near Mineral Ridge, Ohio require extra attention during setup. "Kenisee Lake RV Resort Thousand Trails in Jefferson, Ohio is another great Thousand Trails park! This park is very large and has a park-like setting with 2 lakes," noted one camper who mentioned both 30 and 50 amp full-hookup options.

Seasonal operation limitations: Most campgrounds close during winter months. Countryside Campground operates from "May 1 to October 30" according to their listing information, which aligns with the typical pattern for Mineral Ridge area rv camping options.

Connectivity varies by location: Internet and cell service fluctuate throughout the region. "Kenisee Lake RV Campground is a wonderful place to work from remotely if you have an external antenna to cellular internet," advised one camper, suggesting that connectivity requires planning.

Tips for camping with families

Look for dedicated activity programming: RV Village Camping Resort organizes regular events. "Overall a great campground. The pool and playground are awesome for the kiddos. There are a ton of permanent sites which the folks are all very friendly. The resort has lots of planned activities on the weekends," reported a visitor.

Choose sites with recreational amenities: Campgrounds with multiple facilities keep children engaged. "I've been a seasonal camper at Kennisee for 5 years. It's a great place with a lot of events and entertainment for family's. Multiple fishing ponds, Friday night bingo, bands, fishing tournament for kids, duck race, Christmas in July and many other activities," shared a long-term guest.

Consider noise levels: Camping areas have varying sound profiles. "The daily sites are a bit tight which lends to noisy evenings past quiet hours. We had to get creative making white noise for our toddler to sleep," noted one family at RV Village Camping Resort.

Tips from RVers

Pay attention to site spacing: Mineral Ridge area rv parks vary in spaciousness. "Beautiful campground with gravel sites," noted one Countryside Campground visitor, while others mention tighter configurations at some parks.

Water quality considerations: Well water systems may present challenges. "The campground is clean with plenty of open space and trails. The staff was wonderful," reported a remote worker who stayed at Thousand Trails Kenisee Lake, though other reviews mention variable water quality at some regional parks.

Consider overhead clearance: Tree coverage varies between campgrounds. "It is mostly an established RV Park. The community was very kind. Showers were clean and spacious," reported a Countryside Campground visitor who mentioned appreciating the spacious tent sites and wooded areas.
