Best RV Parks & Resorts near Lynx, OH

Several RV parks near Lynx, Ohio provide full hookup options for motorhomes and travel trailers. Lazy Village Campground & RV Park offers big rig-friendly sites with 50-amp electric, water, and sewer connections. Carter Caves State Resort Park Campground, operating from April through October, features both 30-amp and 50-amp hookups with pull-through RV pads that accommodate larger rigs. Shawnee State Park Campground maintains year-round operation but primarily offers electric-only sites, requiring visitors to arrive with full water tanks. Valley Breeze RV Campground includes water and sewer connections but lacks shower facilities, making it better suited for self-contained motorhomes. "RV sites could use some solid level pads to set up your rv on as the place can get muddy fast."

Advance reservations prove essential at most parks, particularly during summer weekends and fall foliage season. Cell service varies significantly across the region, with Shawnee State Park experiencing complete signal dropout in the campground area. While most facilities maintain dump stations for RVs without sewer hookups, availability can be limited during peak periods. Navigation to some parks requires careful planning, as several mountain access roads feature tight turns and elevation changes challenging for larger motorhomes. Between May and September, weekend sites typically fill weeks in advance, especially those accommodating larger rigs. Most parks enforce pet leash requirements, with designated pet areas available at some locations. Propane services remain limited, with only Carter Caves State Resort Park offering propane fills on-site.

Blue Licks Battlefield State Resort Park

Great place for passers through or staycationers.

We have stayed in four sites her during the past couple of month. There are two walk-in sites (10 & 51). Both were pleasant, nearly level, close to amenities, but were under no shade. [Site 10 is presently inhabited by a large family with a sign that says “Camp Host out front. I have not seen them do anything for campers here, and the site is kept in disgraceful cluttered condition.] we next stayed on Lot 13, which backs up to the primitive campground. Quite nice, but beware: this site as well as about half of the other sites at this campground require the use of electrical and water extensions because the connections are on the “wrong” side of the RV, and quite a distance away. For Lot 13, I needed over 50’ of extensions. We then stayed on walk-in lot 51. I was able to “self permit” at the gate…it’s first come first served, no online reservations. Nice, but no shade. Finally, we’re on Lot 47. Eureka! This is my favorite so far. It’s one of the “premium sites” with wooden deck and nicer picnic table for only $2 additional per night. View is phenomenal, and it’s close enough to dumpsters and gatehouse. Notice that I didn’t mention anything about sewer hookups. That’s because there are none. There is a single, very popular dump station near the entrance/exit.
There are several miles of decent trails here, a swimming pool, putt putt golf, a pioneer museum, and a lodge with a good restaurant. The campground is easily accessible and is very kid and pet friendly. Nice sites for tent camping. Facilities are a bit dated, but clean and well maintained. All RV sites are back-in, and some are limited length. (Though some campers have rather cleverly managed to pull through a couple of the sites.) Some are quite unlevel.
Overall good family campground on rich historical site.

    Beechwood Acres Camping Resort

    Small, But Great Family Spot!

This is a great place to take the kids. We go here every year. They have an in-ground pool, a small store for camping needs, firewood delivery and propane refills. Cell service here is awful and there is no WiFi. The antenna will pick up several local channels. There is a Dollar General about 10 mins away for grocery needs. They have several pull-through and full hookup options as well. Sites are somewhat level. This park has beautiful landscaping that is always meticulously maintained. They also host events and if you check their event calendar on their website, you can see what’s going on during your stay. We were fortunate enough to see the band Timestamp and loved it! They even had a community bonfire!

    Greenbo Lake State Resort Park

    It’s pretty nice

A lot of their sites have full hook up but not all of them. Read the details of the sites when booking. Some of the sites have really steep grades and aren’t big rig friendly.

Check in was a breeze had out car tags on our post.

They do have a full-time camp host on site.

I didn’t use the shower 🚿 house but they do have a couple on the grounds.

They have a putt putt course but bring your own putter and ball.

There is Verizon service but it’s spotty.

They do have WiFi but it’s very slow and not secure.

Place is very pet friendly. The people we have met here are great.

Sites are wide but really close together.

One-Night Adventure: Our Shakedown Trip in the New Travel Trailer

Campsite Review for Site 6 – Gateway to Wayne National Forest

Our recent camping trip at this campground was an excellent way to immerse ourselves in the natural beauty of Wayne National Forest. The serene forest setting provided a perfect backdrop for a relaxing outdoor adventure, with the campground offering all the basics needed for a comfortable stay.

We stayed at Site 6 in our travel trailer, enjoying the ease of a pull-through site. Although the water and electric hookups are on the opposite side unless you drive through the loop the wrong way, this setup has an unexpected benefit—it faces directly toward the woods. This orientation allowed us to savor the tranquility of the forest, adding a layer of privacy and a more intimate connection with nature.

While the sites are decently sized, they are closely positioned with minimal separation, which might limit privacy in other areas. However, the majestic surroundings of Wayne National Forest more than make up for this. The proximity to hiking trails, wildlife sightings, and the peaceful ambiance of the trees create an immersive experience that’s hard to beat.

All in all, this campground is a fantastic base for exploring Wayne National Forest. The combination of basic amenities, convenient access, and the enchanting forest environment makes it a great spot for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts alike.

    Sun Valley Campground

Beautiful campground with sites for RVs and tents.

This campground has a lot to offer with electric and water hookups for RVs with back-in and pull through sites. They have a dump station as well as an onsite bathroom/shower house. The owners are very friendly. I highly recommend.

Ohio River Campground - Hidden Gem

This is a peaceful and quiet campground located along the Ohio River. All sites have 50 amp and water hook ups. Most have fire rings and picnic tables. It is amazing to watch the river barges go by and they also have fishing available. Shower house is clean and warm!!

    East Fork State Park Campground

HUGE state park with many activities

General: Huge state park with over 400 sites. All are pet-friendly and electric. About 20 are FHU. While tent camping is permitted, certain sites are not recommended for it as there would be no place to pitch a tent. One loop is for equestrian camping but when we were there, I only saw one horse trailer, and the rest were occupied by RV campers.

Site Quality: All camper pads are paved and most appeared level or just very slightly sloped. A picnic table and fire ring complete the site. Some sites have more trees to provide privacy while others are closer together with little separation.

Bath/Shower House: Not all loops have their own bath house and the I loop where we stayed was one of them. We used the one in the H Loop. The bathhouses were clean, and the shower had nice hot water, however, it doesn’t seem like there were sufficient facilities for how large the campground was (H Loop had two showers, two toilets, and three sinks). Hooks or shelves would have been appreciated.

Activities/Amenities: Many activities can be enjoyed here including mini golf (small nine-hole course), soccer, basketball, tennis, volleyball, corn hole, boating, and bicycling. Playgrounds are in several loops (I saw them in C and G). Rentals are available but most are only in season (ended September 30). There is a nature center and several hiking or paved biking/walking trails. There is also a camper beach for boating and swimming.

When we reserved months earlier, we knew that our first night (a Saturday) was 100% full as we got the very last site. What we did not know is that there was a HUGE Halloween celebration complete with 30-40 decorated golf carts parading through the campground. The road was closed until 6:45 pm (we arrived around 7 pm) and cars lined both sides of the approximately two-mile road! If that's your thing, great but it wasn't necessarily ours!

I appreciate that this park encourages so much outdoor activity, but it is not very pedestrian-friendly. I walked the road from one end to the other and there was no shoulder and, in many spots, no place to safely step off into the grass. I’m guessing it is assumed you will either have a car or golf cart to get around.

One final note: for a park so close to a large city (Cincinnati), I was surprised the cell service was so lacking (on Verizon). We eked out one and occasionally two bars of 4G.

    Sandy Springs Campground

Amazing experience at Sandy Springs Campground

Sandy Springs Campground is this awesome little gem on the Ohio River. It is a small family owned and family oriented Campground with some amazing views of the foothills of Ohio and Kentucky. The Campground is super clean and well maintained. They have full hookups and 30/50 Amp service. There are pull through sites and river front sites. They have several rental options and the coolest house boat over looking the river with a wrap around porch. They have really nice shower and laundry facilities. There is a pretty cool camp store there too. The best part is the friendly people and atmosphere. The owners work very hard here. They take very good care of the guests and there are always plenty of activities on the weekends and holidays. The prices are definitely affordable and can't be beat anywhere I have stayed before. Couldn't recommend a better place to stay on your next camping adventure.

    Stonelick State Park Campground

    Awesome small State park

An older but updated Ohio State Park. Ran by a great volunteer staff! Nice canoe and kayaking lake, no motor lake. Fishing is good off shore or boat. Had a Bat house building event when we were there. Updated restrooms and shower house. Lots of shaded sites both 30 and 50 amps, no full hook ups, but easy to get too dump and water source for filling tank.

Guide to Lynx

RV parks near Lynx, Ohio operate within the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains at elevations ranging from 500-900 feet above sea level. The area experiences distinct seasonal changes with humid summers reaching 90°F and winter temperatures regularly dropping below freezing from December through February. Most campgrounds sit near tributaries of the Ohio River, creating muddy conditions during spring rainfall.

What to do

Cave exploration: 3-mile guided tours at Carter Caves State Resort Park Campground provide underground adventures throughout most of the year. Tours require reservations and cost $8-12 per person depending on length and difficulty level. A camper explains: "Lots to do hiking, fishing, caves and caverns to explore. Campgrounds was clean. You will need extra water hose and extension cords to get hooked up in a lot of the sites though."

Water recreation: swimming beach and rentals at Long's Retreat Family Resort offer summer water activities from May through September. The lake features water slides, splash pad, and floating dock with diving board. "We have been going here for the last 6 summers with a big group. Everyone always has such a great time and it is the highlight of all the kids summers. The kids can either swim up at the lake, go carts, rock wall climbing, basketball, arcade and so much more."

Wildlife watching: morning viewing spots around the ponds at Sheltowee RV Park provide opportunities to see deer, wild turkey, and various bird species, especially during early morning hours. "The campground is very well maintained. It's quite and tucked away. Nature trails, ponds for relaxing and watching the wildlife or fishing."

What campers like

Digital detox: no cell service zones in several parks force campers to disconnect from technology. Some visitors specifically seek out these areas for family reconnection. At Long's Retreat Family Resort, a camper notes: "Love no cell reception! Quiet clean and staff (owner) is always pleasant and helpful!" Another adds: "Best part is there is no phone service.....everyone has to actually spend time together and it's a great reset!"

Clean facilities: daily maintenance at Outpost Campground & RV Park keeps bathroom, shower, and laundry areas well-maintained throughout the camping season. Staff clean facilities multiple times daily during peak periods. "Very clean and well laid out. Laundry was inexpensive and accessible all hours."

Family-friendly activities: organized weekend events provide entertainment for children and adults alike. Campgrounds often host themed weekends, especially during summer and fall. "We stayed 5 nights at the Outpost and the owner was extremely nice! Brought me some fresh tomatoes and watermelon for my birthday! The campground was clean, the play ground needed a little attention when we first arrived but they filled in the holes and it made it so much more enjoyable for my 3 YO."

What you should know

Water connection challenges: bring extra hoses at many sites. Hookups can be located up to 50 feet from RV pads at some campgrounds. A visitor to Carter Caves State Resort Park Campground advised: "You will need extra water hose and extension cords to get hooked up in a lot of the sites though."
