    Hocking River RV Park

Scenic, easy in/out and on the river

Stayed here 4 nights, pull through spots require a little bit of maneuvering with big rig (43’ fifth wheel). There was some mud where camper wheels were situated in the spot (needs material). Fire rings are not near RV but behind across the road on the river. Bath house is just ok - not great, not gross. Close proximity to lots of hiking but Hocking Hills itself has become so crowded… don’t come if you want to get away from people.

    Hocking Hills KOA Holiday

    Great first time KOA experience

We have never stayed at a KOA before and were very happy with this campground. The staff were friendly and professional, the sites were clean, and there were a wide variety of sites to choose from. From primitive tent sites tucked back in the woods to large RV sites with water/sewer/electric/cable hookups. We are first-time owners of a 29 ft Fifth Wheel and got a pull-through site. It offered little in the way of privacy, which was the only negative about the whole experience. Our site included a fire ring and a picnic table, along with all the hook ups. The night we arrived we were too tired to cook so ordered a pizza from the front office and they delivered it to our site. They also deliver wood directly to you. They escort you directly to your site so you don't get lost or go down a one-way road the wrong way. There was a nice little pool, but it wasn't open for the season yet. The shower houses were immaculate. The front office includes a little gift shop, ice cream, and pizza. This campground was also located close (within a few miles) to all the main hiking trails, and about 12 miles from Logan. The little road going up to the campground is VERY bumpy. It's not the campground road, it belongs to the Township, so its completely out of their ability to make improvements. This was only our second time out in our fifth wheel camper so it was a little scary, but we just drove slow and our truck handled it just fine. We will definitely be back to this wonderful campground as we love Hocking Hills.

    Hocking Hills State Park Campground

    Great Ohio State Park Campground

Amazing trails walkable right from the campground. Old mans cave, upper & lower falls. Bathroom was clean. Showers were ok. My site 108 was not deep, but was wide. Great for my 5X9 travel trailer, but probably not good for a big rig. Shaded & right near the shower house was a plus.

    Big Sycamore Family Campground

    Great small family campground

We enjoyed our 3 night stay here! Some sites are full hook up, some sites are electric and water, and some are primitive. The dump station is easily accessible if you need it. 5 acres with everything we could need. The owners were amazing. Very friendly and helpful! They had only owned the campground for 2 weeks and were in the process of making several improvements. The shower house and bathrooms were clean and adequate. There is a small playground for kids. It is pet friendly. There is a nice sized pool for summer (we camped in October so it was closed for the season). Located within a short drive (about 10 miles/15 minutes) from everything Hocking Hills has to offer. There is even a restaurant close by that will deliver to your campsite. Kroger and Walmart are within 5-7 minutes driving for supplies. The only downside is that it is close to a highway so at night you can hear the traffic. This didn’t bother us so much but might be a problem for some.

    Burr Oak Cove Campground

    Nice little campsite

Cool little campground. First come first served with no reservations accepted. The sites are clean with picnic tables and fire rings and can accommodate small RVs. There are a couple of vault style outhouses, dump stations and a couple of water stations as well. No electric or water hookups, though. Came on a Thursday and there were only two sites occupied so it was nice and quiet even though there is a bit of road noise from the nearby roads. There’s also an easy 1 mile trail down to Burr Cove proper. The sites are $15 ($10 in the off season when the water is turned off) and you pay at an honor box at the entrance once you pick your spot.

    Carthage Gap

A real slice of American camping

This is a fantastic camp ground, the owners Chris and Teresa are fantastic people and the grounds are just majestic. Sitting above two fishing lakes, one you can swim in during the summer the campground is peaceful and tranquil and next to some amazing woodland.

The camping ground caters all campers and rv’s and has full sewer hook up and water. Wash houses with showers, toilets and washing machine and dryer is available. You can have firewood delivered daily, you propane refilled and Chris and Teresa are always there to help you. this is on top of the events pavilion where something is always on. A basket ball court and two playgrounds make this ideal for family’s. On season event calendar includes archery clinics and annual hog roast and more.

the grounds are 30 minutes away from the Wayne national forest and Athens and parkersburg. The beautiful Marietta and hocking valley hills sit an hour away. Simply breathtaking

Guide to Cutler

RV camping options near Cutler, Ohio include several parks within a 30-mile radius. The southeastern Ohio region features rolling hills with elevation changes between 600-1100 feet and deciduous forest landscapes. Summer temperatures typically range from 65-85°F with high humidity, while spring and fall offer milder conditions with occasional heavy rainfall.

What to do

Kayak on the Hocking River: Riversedge Campground offers convenient river access with kayak rental services. "They will even drop you off upstream to start your trip," notes Ken P., who adds that the campground recently "purchased 62 acres for hiking across the road."

Explore Marietta's historic district: Located minutes from Ashland RV Park, Marietta features a walkable downtown area. "Very close to the nice little downtown Marietta, Ohio but still very rural location," mentions James P., highlighting the balance between access and tranquility.

Attend local events: Seasonal festivals provide entertainment opportunities. "We were there for the Rivers, Trails, and Ales Festival and it was perfect. It's right on the river so we made a stop at camp while on a paddling trip," reports Jackie D. about her stay at Ashland RV Park.

What campers like

Riverside camping spots: Several campgrounds offer sites directly on waterways. At Riversedge Campground, "Our tent was right on the river and Kelli was the best host ever! On our last day she brought us warm cinnamon rolls and coffee. We enjoyed them by our fire as we watched the mist gently float over the water," shares Eric S.

Affordable rates: Budget-conscious travelers appreciate the value. "Right on the Ohio River with full hookup for $25 a night?! Full hookup alone is worth more than 25 bucks," exclaims Clean Slate D. about Harris RV Park, which accepts cash or check only.

Clean facilities: Well-maintained bathhouses receive positive mentions. At Hocking River RV Park, a visitor noted, "Electric hookup only. Shower and restroom facility provided very clean and orderly campsite also very clean," according to Bill V.

What you should know

Seasonal considerations: Some campgrounds operate only part of the year. Hocking River RV Park runs from April through October, while Shadow Lake RV Resort remains open year-round, with a visitor noting, "We came to Shadow Lake in October to camp for the month. To get here, you must drive through the rolling hills of Southern Ohio, which is absolutely gorgeous in October!"

River access challenges: Steep embankments can make water entry difficult. At Hocking River RV Park, sites are positioned above the water with limited access points.

Highway noise levels: Traffic sound affects some locations. Hocking River RV Park sits beside State Route 33, with one camper reporting, "Right on the river, which is interesting, but it's also right alongside State Route 33, so you hear freeway traffic constantly. Trucks and motorcycles woke me up all night."

Tips for camping with families

Limited on-site activities: Some campgrounds have minimal recreation options. One family at Hocking River RV Park mentioned, "No playground which made camping with kids very uneventful for them. You're right off the highway though but a good drive to any of the attractions."

Consider wildlife viewing opportunities: Stockport RV Park and surrounding areas offer nature observation possibilities. Shadow Lake visitors report, "We see deer almost every evening. There are a couple hiking trails nearby (Piatt Park and Raven's Rock) which have incredible rock formations in the gorges."

Seek tent sites with amenities: For non-RV campers with children, some parks offer tent options with services. "While an RV park, you can also tent camp with the amenities, making it really nice. Electrical hookups and water at your site, plus clean bathrooms and a shower house on the property," notes Jackie D. about options at Ashland RV Park.

Tips from RVers

Site selection considerations: Position and surface quality vary across campgrounds. At Hocking River RV Park, "Sites 26 and 27 are real small and private. Big enough for a pop up. Water filling and black water dump. Electric. Close to river," advises Brad B.

Arrival planning: Some parks have flexible check-in procedures. At Blennerhassett RV Park, "The owner was great. I called when I was on my way, he gave me a space number, and I was able to go straight to it. Weekly and monthly pricing is great too," reports Aly M.

Surface conditions: Ground stability issues exist at certain sites. A visitor to Hocking River RV Park noted that their pull-through site "needs material" as "There was some mud where camper wheels were situated in the spot."
