Best RV Parks & Resorts near Lore City, OH

Salt Fork State Park Campground provides full-hookup RV sites with electric, water, and sewer connections near Lore City. The park features pull-through sites with 50-amp service, accommodating larger motorhomes and travel trailers throughout the year. "The camp has lots of RV type spots with electric hookups. There is water available all throughout the campsite area at several faucets as well as bathrooms and a shower house," notes one visitor. Several nearby RV parks offer alternatives, including Shadow Lake RV Resort in Woodsfield with year-round availability and Zion Retreat & RV Park in Flushing, both providing full-hookup sites with electric, water, and sewer connections for big rigs.

Many campground roads in the region present challenges for larger motorhomes. A camper observed that at Barkcamp State Park Campground "about 90% of the sites were not level (and....I mean by A LOT)," suggesting travelers bring leveling blocks. Seasonal considerations affect availability, with some parks like Berlin RV Park & Campground operating only from April through December. Dump stations are available at most parks, though limited in primitive camping areas. Cell service varies significantly throughout the region's rolling terrain, with several reviewers noting complete dead zones at more remote locations. Most RV parks accommodate pets, but specific rules regarding breed restrictions and leash requirements differ between facilities.

    Amish Country Campsites

    Amish campsite

Very small campgrounds literally next to if not part of a corn field extremely cramped back if our camper was 2ft from the camper behind us and 15 ft from the campers left to right. When we left we had to knock on camper doors to ask folks to move their cars so we could pull out of out parking spot. The other campers were very nice lots of local folks they were fun to talk to. The camp site did have clean showers. Hot water. And. Clean restroom facilities. The dump station isn’t the best it is on a hill so dumping ones waste tanks completely could be a challenge The owners were polite but short The sites aren’t the best the electric is only 30 amp. And very dated they did have water hookups at each site. I didn’t take any pictures as there wasn’t anything to see at the campground other than campers packed in like sardines It is close to town and the shops. Everything closed at 5:00 including gas stations As they say any port in a storm. So as a last resort I guess it’s is okay. Just don’t plan to leave after 5:00 pm unless you have a full tank of gas. No ada camp sites. They are pet friendly

    Atwood Lake Park Campground

    Incredible!

The Atwood Lake Campground is a true gem in a beautiful area of eastern Ohio! We’ve visited the Atwood region many times in the past but have never camped - but after this visit we’ll be back for sure. The campground is relatively new, with the campground area being completely revamped beginning in 2017. There are two overnight camping areas with seasonal sites in a separate section; we stayed in “Camp H” which is the newest area. There is a huge bathhouse with two sets of men’s and women’s restrooms and shower facilities along with a very nice laundry area. Adjoining the bathhouse area is a beautiful pavilion and children’s playground - all of which overlooks Atwood Lake. The campsites are nicely spaced though if you’re in the inner loop as we were or even some of the outer ring sites you’ll be looking right into your neighbor’s site. All sites are FHU on level concrete pads and include a metal picnic table and fire ring. If needed there are two very well equipped dump stations if you prefer to use them instead of the sewer connection at your site. Many sites are on cul de sacs directly on the lake with docks and fishing areas adjacent to the campsites. Lots of hiking trails, paved bike paths, a swimming beach and restaurant are in a nearby area. We loved the campground and will return soon!

    Salt Fork State Park Campground

    Great fall camping

Dated, but pretty clean bath\shower building with clothes washer and dryer ($2). Sites in C-loop are far enough apart to not feel too crammed together. Power pedestal has 20, 30 and 50 amp service. 30 amp worked fine. Lots of trails, allowing dogs on leash. True, other amenities are a drive of at least a couple miles to get to. ATT service was fine for streaming using ROKU and my phone as a hotspot. Paved, level pads, but not long enough for largest trailers. Check size if you have one. Sites at South end of loop get the most shade

    Burr Oak Cove Campground

    Nice little campsite

Cool little campground. First come first served with no reservations accepted. The sites are clean with picnic tables and fire rings and can accommodate small RVs. There are a couple of vault style outhouses, dump stations and a couple of water stations as well. No electric or water hookups, though. Came on a Thursday and there were only two sites occupied so it was nice and quiet even though there is a bit of road noise from the nearby roads. There’s also an easy 1 mile trail down to Burr Cove proper. The sites are $15 ($10 in the off season when the water is turned off) and you pay at an honor box at the entrance once you pick your spot.

    Wolfie's Campground

    Clean and very well maintained

A clean park with about 45 sites total. Some are long term while others for shorter stays. They also have cabins and tent sites.

Nice pool, 1/2 court basketball court, playground, laundry and store.

They only challenge is you don’t want to meet a rig going out while you’re coming in. We are a 38 foot class A and met a 36’ 5th wheel on the curve at the entrance. We literally passed with less than an inch between us and I am pretty sure the 5th wheel went partially of the road.

But nice campground; quiet and clean.

    Burr Oak Cove Campground

Great place to camp, unleveled pads

This is our second trip to Burr Oak Cove and it continues to be a great place to camp for the weekend. Very family friendly with spacious sites (especially if you can get two next to each other).

Rangers are kind and informative and the facilities are well kept. There are nice leveled pads at most sites for tents; however, if you are brining a trailer or RV it can be a challenge to level them as the parking pads are sloped.

Att cell reception was at 2 bars of LTE as well making remote work possible.

    Salt Fork State Park Campground

    My Go-to Weekend Getaway

Saltfork is located about 45 minutes from my house, and makes for the perfect overnight trip.

There are tons of things to do, and lots of space in which to do them. My favorites includes hiking trails, and the lakeside dog park.

I stay in the primitive camping, it allows for more privacy and quiet. Although it also means you are relegated to the pit toilets. I personally don't mind them, but I know some campers will make the drive to the nicer shower house in the RV heavy side of the park.

Each site has a picnic table and fire ring, the fire rings in the primitive section need some work, as the grates are very old and small.

    Jefferson Lake State Park Campground

    Quiet little campground

Tucked away in southeastern Ohio is a gem of a park for camping, hiking and horse camping. Clean water, restrooms, playground, sand volleyball and basketball court. Dump station and 18 miles of multi use trails! Small lake for wading with the kiddos, fishing near the dam or skip rocks in the creek. But be sure to pack a picnic and relax and enjoy! Only a few electric sites available. Mostly flat shaded sites most perfect for tents or trailers.

    Awesome Campground

Great campground! Level sites with full hookups. 50amp. Plenty of space between spots. Shower house is beautiful and CLEAN. Includes a very nice laundry room. Guide to Lore City

Salt Fork State Park and the surrounding region offers a range of camping options from primitive tent sites to full-service RV parks near Lore City, Ohio. The area's rolling hills present challenging driving conditions, with elevation changes affecting both access and cell service availability. Seasonal operation varies significantly among campgrounds, with water access typically shut off during winter months.

What to do

Fishing opportunities: Riversedge Campground provides direct river access for anglers with tent sites positioned along the water. "Our tent was right on the river and Kelli was the best host ever! On our last day she brought us warm cinnamon rolls and coffee. We enjoyed them by our fire as we watched the mist gently float over the water," reports Eric S.

Water recreation: Riversedge Campground also offers kayak and canoe rentals with shuttle service. "If you decide to rent a kayak they will even drop you off upstream to start your trip," notes Ken P., who visited for a father-son getaway.

Explore Amish Country: The Berlin area provides cultural experiences within 45 minutes of Lore City. "Such a wonderful and welcoming staff. Spotless bathrooms and I mean SPOTLESS. Lots to do for kids: Sand Volleyball, basketball court, tetherball, corn hole area and playground," shares Tara T. about her stay at Berlin RV Park & Campground.

What campers like

Riverfront camping: Tent campers appreciate waterfront sites at several campgrounds. "We stayed at one of the riverside tent sites. It was beautiful!!! The sites are well maintained & the bathrooms are clean," writes salena about her experience at Riversedge.

Hiking trails: Shadow Lake RV Resort offers on-property trails through its 100-acre property. "There are several ponds located on the property and trails meander along and around the 100 acre property. We see deer almost every evening. There are a couple hiking trails nearby (Piatt Park and Raven's Rock) which have incredible rock formations in the gorges," according to Darla.

Clean facilities: Multiple campgrounds maintain exceptionally clean restrooms. "The bathrooms, showers and laundry areas were very clean. There also was not an issue with biting insects- none of us got a mosquito bite during our stay here," reports Jenalee R. about Berlin RV Park.

What you should know

Site leveling challenges: Bring leveling equipment as many sites in the region require significant adjustment. "We had difficulty leveling one night in lot 3 but traded to #4 the next night and did fine. The many pull thru lots looked like a good level base," advises Craig T. about Berlin RV Park & Campground.

Cash-only policies: Some smaller rv parks near Lore City, Ohio operate on cash-only payment systems. "Did I mention we're right on the Ohio River with full hookup for $25 a night?! Full hookup alone is worth more than 25 bucks. Cash or Check only," mentions Clean Slate D. about Harris RV Park.

Limited amenities for children: Several campgrounds cater primarily to adult campers. "Nothing much for kids, so it's nice for peace and quiet," notes Tom H. about Scenic Hills RV Park.

Tips for camping with families

Youth activities: Select campgrounds with dedicated recreational facilities. "We enjoyed 2 nights in this well maintained park. Pavilion, Basketball court, showers and laundry all nice," explains Craig T. about his Berlin RV Park stay.

Insect preparation: Pack bug spray during summer months, though conditions vary by location. "There also was not an issue with biting insects- none of us got a mosquito bite during our stay here," notes Jenalee R., suggesting some areas may have fewer pest issues.

Winter options: Ashland RV Park provides year-round accommodation near the Muskingum River. "Large open campground minutes from downtown Marietta OH owner and Staff are very friendly and easy going! Clean, nice newer bath house. With laundry large shelter house," writes Keith O.

Tips from RVers

Hookup positioning: Be prepared for unusual utility placement at some campgrounds. "The one and only issue is that water and electricity is located in the rear area of RV, while sewer connections are toward the front. I personally used 50' of water line and 30' of sewer line," advises Earl B. about Scenic Hills RV Park.

Shade considerations: Request shaded sites when making reservations during summer. "Asked for a shaded area...got a perfect one that had shade all day. Friendly and helpful staff. Free firewood. Very clean and well kept park," recommends Noel L.

Road grade awareness: Some rv parks near Lore City have steep entry roads. "Make sure you have a good tow vehicle as there is a steep hill at the entrance/exit of the camp ground," warns Robert T. about Zion Retreat & RV Park.
