Free WIFI available and able to connect at campsite

Dump Stations at Park exit have complimentary hoses

    Toledo East-Stony Ridge KOA

    Small basic campground near Toledo

Our site was $59.95 a night.

We were in Site# 504. We had Full hook- up with a gravel pull-through.
We travel towing a 14 foot trailer and were able to fit both in our pull through site along with my jeep. The site was easy to level. We were charged $25 additional for my jeep since we were towing the trailer. We also were charged $10 because we arrived at 1:25 PM and check-in is at 2 PM. The park was close to empty so arriving early was not an inconvenience. We drove ourselves to our spot (no escort).

Our site was shaded with lots of trees. This was a smaller lot with our neighbors fairly close.

The lot comes with a concrete patio with picnic table and fire ring. They sell wood for $6 a bundle.

There is free WiFi, although not strong. They offer Cable TV and there are many channels.

There is not a community outdoor kitchen or community fire pit.

They pickup your garbage at your site daily before noon.

You are allowed to ride personal golf carts. They do not provide golf cart rentals. There is really not a need to have a Golf cart because it is a smaller campground.

They do have a Swimming pool but it is currently closed due to maintenance (although it just looked closed- no signs of maintenance being done).

There is a Playground. They also offer horseshoes, corn hole, giant jinga.

They have a basic general store. There are not scheduled activities for kids.

There is not a snack bar/restaurant on site.

The streets are gravel so not great for riding bikes. This is an RV park with tent camping and cabins to rent.

They have one shower house. The shower house has individual bathrooms with your own sink, shower, toilet. These are kept very clean.

There is a laundry facility. It is a cash only facility, but they have a change machine. There are approximately 4 washers and 4 dryers. It is approximately $2.50 to wash and $2.50 to dry a load.

They have a small fenced in dog park.

There isn’t tons to doin the actual city of Perryville. But Toledo is a 20 minute drive.

    Kiser Lake State Park Campground

    Quiet Park

This park is know for the lake that is kayak and canoe friendly since it doesn’t allow any kind of boat with a motor. It also features a beach , 2 playgrounds and several hiking trails. Just be careful if you hike with dogs since some trails intersect with a nature preserve which doesn’t allow pets.

The campground itself has 20 electric sites , 56 primitive sites and 4 camper cabins. All the electric sites are pull through and all sites have a fire pit but only the electric sites come with picnic tables.

Due to off season and COVID the camp store is closed and there is no camper host or park office staff around.

We did notice lots of downed trees on the poorly marked hiking trails. Some trails just started but no maps were around and no trails were blazed. It was hard to tell where we were headed or how long a trail was. I tried using the new Detour app and it wasn’t very accurate for this park.

We did have good Verizon cell coverage.

Venture Out Resorts Arrowhead Lakes Resort

    Big rigs to tents

We stayed here for free for 10 days as a part of a promotion that came with the purchase of our rig. Not sure about normal pricing though, as this campground is owned by Venture Out Resorts and they are a timeshare company (we had to sit for a hour long "pitch" to get our free days). They have 50amp, full hookup, pull through sites (and we saw 40+ ft rigs there) to tent camping to cabin rentals. The campground was clean (shower houses always looked great) and grounds were maintained. Amenities include an indoor pool, hot tub and sauna (close at 10p), but we did not partake because it was so overridden by children, chlorine, and no open windows - didn't seem worth any effort whatsoever in the July heat. The amenities we did checkout (close nightly at 8p) included their new 18 hole mini golf course, small arcade (4 games and pinball was broken 😢), loaner bikes, and water toys (we liked the paddle bikes). The company recently bought the property, so you can see what they inherited vs what it will probably eventually be like based off their sister properties (they recently added the putt putt and a big jungle gym) so it could evolve more as time passes. Regardless, in its current state as active 30 somethings, we were pretty bored. No hiking, significant highway noise, yes a couple big ponds, but a truck stop and truck storage is behind both - so no views. Most of the campers we saw were elderly or had young kids. I'd say if you fall into a category where you want to sit beside your rig all day or want your kids entertained (playgrounds, kids programming - it was luau week so they had a Moana movie night and other kid activities), go on and book a longer stay. If you're only looking for a spot to stay overnight by the highway, do it! It is simple to pull in and have full hookups to take advantage of but a 10 day stay is too long if you're paying. Other things to know: Walmart, Aldi, Lowes, and several automotive chain stores are at max 5 min away, which made grabbing some needed supplies super easy. That said truck stop above was very convenient to get into to fuel up our rig too. Fun fact: Neil Armstrong was born in Wapakoneta and the Armstrong Air & Space Museum is also a max 5 min drive away if you want to get your inner astronaut fix.

    Van Buren State Park Campground

    Small and peaceful

We stayed one night on our way to IN. We’ve never been here before and wanted to check it off our list. It’s a small campground with one side as equestrian and the other side not. All sites had electric and water, no full hookup. There were only drop toilets and no showers. They were clean but I don’t think I’d want to do more than a weekend there. It had a nice playground for kids and plenty of trails to hike or go horseback riding. They also had a dog park and small wildflower garden. The check in cabin had ice and wood for sale but no store. Our site was really nice. The pads were recently paved and had a huge bumper at the end. The fire ring was nice and the site had plenty of space for tents.

    Indian Lake State Park Campground

    Lots of sites

Our pad was not level front to back so we had to adjust a little bit. The fire ring was nice but our picnic table was beat up. I went to move it and the seat pulled right off. We stayed on a Sunday night so it wasn’t packed. There are a ton of sites. Some had great shade and others didn’t have any at all. The bathrooms were flush toilets and they did have shower houses too. The camp store is really big and it’s right next to their pool. They have a dog park, place to dock your boat and a small beach. I would imagine this would be a pretty busy during the summer.

    Lake Loramie State Park Campground

Perfect retreat for the family or solo adventure

Relax on the waters edge in shear tranquility. Perfect beach for swimming, excellent trails for hiking, and awesome lake to boat. Multiple launch ramps provide ease and convenience. Rent a canoe or kayak and head out for some time alone or with your favorite person. The cabins are heated but pets are not allowed. Campground is huge as are the sites. Some are premium, there’s a few ADA and some lakeside making for a great view to enjoy your morning coffee.

    Lake Loramie State Park Campground

Fun for kids during the day and sage at night.

We have stayed many times. Love being so close to the lake we can fish all the time. The beach is a bit of a walk from the campground but not to far. They offer canoe rentals, and bike rentals. The park also has beautiful cabins on the lake shore.

Guide to Bluffton

What to do

Kayaking on quiet waters: Kiser Lake State Park Campground prohibits motorized boats, creating ideal conditions for paddlers. "We had a great time kayaking there. The lake was calm and everyone was very respectful of us in our kayaks," notes one visitor who appreciates the tranquil setting.

Fishing for multiple species: The lakes surrounding Bluffton cabin rentals offer productive fishing. At Twin Lakes Park, visitors report good catches: "Caught some decent bass and kids enjoyed all the bluegill fishing," making it suitable for both serious anglers and families.

Disc golf access: Several parks near Bluffton cabin accommodations maintain disc golf courses for guests. "There are no hiking trails or at least none that I have found and the paved trail you have to drive to as well as the disc golf course," explains one camper at Grand Lake St. Marys, noting the amenity requires a short drive from the camping area.

What campers like

Spacious cabin sites: Grand Lake St. Marys State Park features well-designed campgrounds with room to spread out. "The sites were pull through which was nice for having young kids. Could sit at our spot and watch our kids at the playground," notes a visitor, highlighting the family-friendly layout.

Clean facilities: Wapakoneta cabins typically maintain high cleanliness standards. "They have individual bathrooms with your own sink, shower, toilet. These are kept very clean," reports a camper staying at Toledo East-Stony Ridge KOA, reflecting the maintenance level at many cabin properties near Bluffton.

Swimming options: Indian Lake State Park Campground offers multiple water recreation choices. "They have a dog park, place to dock your boat and a small beach. I would imagine this would be a pretty busy during the summer," writes a reviewer who appreciated the diverse facilities.

What you should know

Site selection matters: At many cabin areas, location significantly impacts experience. "Some had great shade and others didn't have any at all," notes a camper at Indian Lake State Park, emphasizing the importance of researching specific cabin positioning before booking.

Limited privacy: Most cabin areas feature open layouts. At Van Buren State Park Campground, "Campground is small but well maintained. Hiking is great. Probably better for people with horses," indicating the compact nature of many cabin areas near Bluffton.

Seasonal considerations: Water quality varies throughout the year. "The entire lake stinks of pig poop. All the air smells like poo," warns a summer visitor to Grand Lake St. Marys, suggesting cabin renters consider timing their visits based on seasonal conditions.

Tips for camping with families

Playground proximity: Position cabin reservations near play structures for convenience. "We stayed on site 65, right across from the bath house. Nice site, easy to access, and still very quiet despite being near busy areas," reports a Twin Lakes Park visitor, showing that convenience doesn't always mean noise.

Kid-focused activities: Adventure Bound Pleasant View offers structured entertainment options. "The campground offers a pond for fishing, swimming pool, bounce pad, inflatable lake fun, dog park and mini golf," explains a reviewer, detailing the varied children's amenities available.

Off-season benefits: Cabin camping during school months reduces crowds. "We stayed on a Sunday night so it wasn't packed. There are a ton of sites," remarks a visitor at Indian Lake State Park, suggesting weekday or off-season stays for quieter family experiences.

Tips from RVers

Early arrival fees: Some properties charge for checking in before official times. "We were charged $10 because we arrived at 1:25 PM and check-in is at 2 PM," notes a Toledo East-Stony Ridge KOA visitor, advising travelers to verify policies before planning arrival times.

Hookup positioning: Check utility connection locations when selecting cabins with RV amenities. "Full hookup but sewer connection was at very back of spot. We used dump station," explains a camper, highlighting the sometimes inconvenient placement of connections at some properties.

Propane availability: Most cabin areas don't offer propane refill services. Pack accordingly or locate off-site refill options in Bluffton or surrounding communities like Wapakoneta, where several hardware stores provide this service.
