Best Cabin Camping near Granite Quarry, NC

Cabins at Dan Nicholas Park in Salisbury provide electricity, heat, and air conditioning for year-round comfort. The park's cabins include standard furnishings and are positioned near a small lake with fishing access. Lake Curriher Wilderness offers more secluded cabin options with lakefront views and basic amenities. Both locations feature cabins with picnic tables, fire rings, and proximity to bathhouses with toilets and showers. Furnished cabins typically include beds, tables, and chairs, though kitchen facilities vary by location. "Very clean and taken care of. Restrooms clean," notes a visitor about the Dan Nicholas facilities.

Rustic and deluxe cabins are both available, depending on the location. Dan Nicholas Park cabins are family-friendly and situated within a larger recreational area offering activities like carousel rides, gem mining, and wildlife viewing. Lake Curriher Wilderness provides more private cabin experiences with limited amenities but superior natural settings. Reservations are recommended, especially during summer months when family bookings increase. A reviewer of Lake Curriher Wilderness mentioned, "Perfect cabin! Just needed a couple days away and was as good as I could hope for. Staff are great and helpful."

Most cabins include beds but require visitors to bring their own linens, towels, and toiletries. Cooking facilities vary significantly between locations, with some offering only outdoor fire rings and others providing indoor cooking options. Dan Nicholas Park and Lake Curriher Wilderness both maintain small camp stores selling firewood, basic provisions, and fishing supplies. Cobble Hill RV Campground offers more fully equipped cabins with access to full hookup amenities. High Rock Lake Marina and Campground provides cabin options with lake access, making them popular for fishing-focused stays.

Deep River Campground And RV Park

    Clean,affordable, and friendly staff

Took a weekend trip to Deep River Campground in Asheboro, NC. Very well kept, level spots, pet friendly, big rig friendly with pull through and back-in sites available. Full hook-ups (50 & 30 amp). Fire pit and picnic tables at each site. About $40 a night, no deposit required. With weekly and monthly rates as well. 2 pools (currently closed due to covid), game room, store, and private pond. Located minutes away from multiple trail heads. We were on lot 20, which is a double space designed for a larger rig, very private with lots of shade.

    Statesville RV Park I-77

    Right off of Interstate

This KOA is RIGHT off of the interstate. If you are in midtravel and need a place to overnight this is a nice KOA for that. The camping cabins are cozy, we stayed in a single which has 1 dbl bed and twin sized bunk bed. Staff was very friendly. I wouldn't consider this a camping destination.

    Lake Norman State Park Campground

    Fantastic quiet get away

We stayed in the new glamping cabin #2. Very clean, comfortable bed, nice AC, lovely porch to relax on. All cabins are in walking distance to the bathrooms and showers. Those as well were pretty clean for a camp ground, I was pleasantly surprised. The path to the bathrooms light up at night so you can find your way very easy in the dark. Camp ground itself was very clean and I often saw the staff working on cleaning it and interacting with the campers. The designated swimming area was like a piece of heaven. Small not to overly packed, very clean beach. We plan on coming pack to do tent camping with our dog, fantastic family or romantic couple retreat.

    Charlotte-Fort Mill KOA

Great for trip to Charlotte NC

We came here to do some trailer maintenance and because it is very close to home. We were not expecting it to be a great camping experience, but we’re pleasantly surprised! The staff were extremely helpful and friendly, the campsites were clean, and the bath houses were newly updated and immaculate. The roads in the section we stayed in were a bit rough (a combination of asphalt and gravel), but perfectly fine for camping. Most of the sites have good shade, but unfortunately our site was in full sun. Our site had full hookups, and a picnic table that was pretty rickety. No fire ring. The sites are very close together, and most are back to back sharing a driveway. Personally we prefer a more secluded camping spot, but this KOA is perfect for an overnight on your way to another location, a trip to nearby Charlotte, or like us, utilizing the full hookups for some waterline maintenance.

    Morrow Mountain State Park Campground

    Good

So, if you end up in a crap site you might drop those 4 stars to 3. Its going to be impossible to determine a great site from a bad without going there since the only pic they have online is from site 1. B loop, has a lot of RVs. A loop, has the amphitheater. C loop, felt like the smallest loop and really close to the entry hiking trail. We've stayed in both A and C. C loop, site 48, is where we stayed this trip. Its a good site. Close to the showers, which are clean and well maintained. Close to the trash bins and water spicket as well. Behind the site is a great little "valley" to explore if you have kids/dogs. Has awesome trees for hammocks and the tent pad doesnt slope. Did not love the fire pit at this site but the sites to the left and right are great. Overall, tons of sites and good clean facilities. The trails are plentiful so you shouldnt run out of places to explore.

Historical get away in the forest

The swaying of pine trees with the smell of the forest greets us at this easily accessible site in our motorhome. Electric and water hookups at our site, dump station available on the way out, camp host available. Picnic tables, fire pit available at our site. Lots of shade, plenty of trails that cover this State Park. The Kron house nearby, the swimming pool ( closed at time of our visit). The town of Albemarle 10 minutes away and Badin lake right down the mountain. Lots of history here just stop at the ranger station for information, maps and more.

    Morrow Mountain State Park Campground

Family friendly, clean, quiet considering close proximity of neighbors

Very family friendly camp ground. Sites are close together, but not too terrible. Sites include tent pad, fire ring with grate, table, lantern hook. Facilities we're kept nicely, host was very helpful and makes rounds in the evenings with firewood ($5 bundle). Hiked the trail head near the campground, to the river.. lovely hike NO RIVER ACCESS FOR FISHING though... Embankment is too steep, we learned this after the 2.5 mile hike with the kids... Went down the road to the lake the next day (they have boat rentals, though we didn't get one).

    Greensboro KOA

    Nice rv campground

We stayed at this rv campground while visiting the many things to see and do in Greensboro North Carolina. visitgreensboronc.com

The rv sites are all pull thru nearly level, big gravel sites. We had plenty of room for ort 45' plus toad. There is a nice large K9 park. Playground. The best WIFI we have experienced and many free antenna tv channels. The restrooms and laundry were both neat and clean. The hosts were wonderfully friendly and knowledgeable. Will return for a longer stay.

    Morrow Mountain State Park Campground

    Pretty Basic

Plentiful campsites, we arrived on a Friday without a reservation and were able to get a spot. There is a swimming pool, but we didn't swim. Some hikes nearby, but far from the swimming spots in the Uwharrie National Forest. No bathrooms near the campsites, but there were spigots with potable water. The tent pads were even and well packed. All sites had a picnic bench and a fire pit with a grate.

What campers like

Freshly renovated facilities at Lake Norman State Park: The bathhouses have been updated recently. "I have camped all across the US and this was the nicest and cleanest campground I have ever been in. Fantastic experience," states Andrew G., highlighting the well-maintained amenities.

Rural seclusion at Lake Curriher Wilderness: The cabins provide a quiet retreat with basic amenities. Slightly around that time, the retired police chief came around to introduce himself and give me his cell number."

What you should know

Bathhouse limitations: Some cabin locations have limited or no shower facilities. At Lake Curriher, "No showers, which we didn't know until after we got here, saw the one bathroom, and realized there was not a shower. There is an outdoor shower," warns a reviewer.

Huge lake, carousel, train rides and small zoo. Campsites are standard size. Wooded and bathhouse were dated but, clean," explains Wendy M. about the facilities at Dan Nicholas Park.
