    Letchworth State Park Campground

A little gem with a lot to do

Cabin campers here at letchworth for the past two years. We stumbled on cabin camping at letchworth due to weekends being booked for almost the entire summer for tent spots. the cabins are spacious, with bunk beds, a stove, fridge, and a fire place. i thought they might be close together, yet they were all pretty private, with a fire ring and picnic table. There was a beautiful updated playground, and clean bathrooms. Last summer they had just opened the new nature center with guided hikes, and activities all summer long.

Great for the falls, swimming, hiking, white water rafting, kayaking and so much more!

    Back for a 2nd time

Marina convenience store with pontoon boat rentals

    Fishing

    Swimming

    NEAR BY ATTRACTIONS: Wineries

    CONS:

Electric service boxes are shared in-between sites. This could pose an issue if your power cord is not long enough.

There is only source for water fill up. This could end up being a very very long wait if you arrive at the same time as other campers.

    Only 2 dump stations

They don’t allow pull-in camping. Campers MUST be backed in

    Flint Creek Campgrounds

Great activities, friendly hosts, full hook ups!

Close to wine country you will find this gem of a family campground. Dog and kid friendly with activities such as wagon rides, arts and crafts, movie night and various themed weekend events. The hosts were super friendly and welcoming during our entire stay. An easy back in site with full hookups (B10) backed against a row of trees and a field that provided much entertainment of squirrels and birds. There is a camp store with very reasonable prices and accepts credit cards. Wood ($4) and ice ($2) are also for sale. There are two small cabins to rent along with a couple of family tent sites. The bathrooms/showers were clean near the camp store. Amenities include a pool, mini golf ($1/person), two playgrounds, horseshoes, a recreation center with games and movies, basketball and shuffle board. There are many seasonal campers at this campground, but all seemed friendly and welcoming as well. It truly seemed like one big happy family there.

    Letchworth State Park Campground

    Beautiful place

Letchworth is absolutely stunning. The views are beautiful, however the scenic areas are at least a 10 minute drive from the campground. The park is massive.

There is a huge variation in site sizes. We lucked out and got a large site with privacy and an area for the kids to run around, however the site directly across from us was little more than the gravel pad and fire pit. Some of the sites are right on top of each other. Great for group camping, not so much if you want any privacy.

Only two out of the 8 loops (200 and 700 loops) have updated bathrooms (single toilet with handheld showers in half of the bathrooms). The others loops have older facilities with three traditional toilet stalls and two showers.

We loved our site but would’ve preferred to stay in a loop with the updated bath houses as we have younger children and a tent trailer.

All sites have electricity. Some loops are pet friendly, some are pet free. The camp store has a good selection of necessities, albeit expensive for discount brands. The pool is 4-5 miles down the road from the camping area.

    Would absolutely camp here again.

    Letchworth State Park Campground

    Cute cabins and amazing views

We stayed in a cute cabin with running water, a stove, and a heater for cold nights! Outside we had a picnic table and a campfire pit. The park itself has amazing hiking with awesome views. Highly recommend!

Ontario County Park at Gannett Hill

    Wonderful!

Great secluded tent camping (recomend numbers 7 and 8), cabins are new and ample beds and space. Camper camping is close to everything, but less privacy. Numerous pavilions that are wonderful for parties or weddings. Stunning overlook that is breathtaking (also great for weddings). Hiking, bike trails, fishing pond, playground, open fields for sports, much more!!! Great for photo shoots, weekend stress getaways etc. I live close by and visit a few times a month.

    Conesus Lake Campground

Camping with amenities, close to fun

This is your typical Mom and Pop family campground, there are rules to follow but they do not hinder on your experience. They have a well stocked camp store, boat rentals, golf cart rentals, an indoor heated pool, jump pad, playgrounds, a hiking trail and frisbee golf. The bottom portion of the campground has mostly seasonal campers and cabins. You do have to go up a pretty steep hill to get to the 'transient' camping section, but there are many pull through, level, full hook up sites to choose from. ( We had site 250 and really liked it) The bathrooms were toilet/shower combos and were very clean. Attractions close by is a drive-in with 4 different screens, many places to eat, parks ( Vitale Park was really nice), a fun center with mini golf, go carts, batting cages, laser tag and arcade. We also experienced the local flea market in Avon, NY. It's HUGE!

    Letchworth State Park Campground

    Good Camping inside the Park

The campgrounds are conveniently located inside the Park so easy to get to the amazing falls towards the south as well as the dam in the north. We were in loop 300 which does not allow pets. Decent bathhouses right opposite our site. Our site was a gravel drive with a grassy area containing the picnic table and fire ring. Unfortunately due to rain the day before the grass was extremely muddy which make it hard to get to the fire ring. There was also white a lot of noise from adjacent sites, we could hear everyone's conversations and screaming kids. There was a laundry facility but no dishwashing.

Lakeview Camping Area — Fair Haven Beach State Park

    We decided to move on

We drove through here but didn’t stay. The non-electric sites were pretty much all on hilly areas, most would be impossible for an RV to get level, though there were a few that would have worked.

We drove through the “bluffs” loop (electric sites), thinking it would be beautiful and look out on the water, but it was a nightmare for us, with huge RVs jam packed side by side like a parking lot.

The lakeview loop was nicer, but still too many RVs all in a row. There are also cute cabins here for rent.

When we were there the city was under a water advisory- all water had to be boiled before any kind of use. There was a dump station, and trash bins but no recycling (I’m disappointed in the lack of recycling at NY State campgrounds!) So, we moved on to Selkirk SP and stayed there instead.

Guide to Walworth

Cabins near Walworth, New York range from basic seasonal rentals to fully-equipped accommodations. Most cabin rentals are situated within established campgrounds on the edges of the Finger Lakes region, approximately 20-40 miles from Walworth itself. Fall temperatures typically range between 40-65°F, with rental availability extending through late October at most properties.

What to do

Lake activities: nearby Canandaigua: Visitors staying in cabins near Walworth have easy access to Canandaigua Lake. "The campground is close to the finger lakes, is clean, has kid activities and a pond where the fish are easy to catch with hotdogs!" notes a camper at Canandaigua-Rochester KOA.

Military history exploration: 45-minute drive: Sampson State Park maintains a naval museum with authentic WWII artifacts. A visitor reports, "This park is very clean, good size sites. Has a very nice military museum." The museum provides context about the former naval training base that operated on Seneca Lake.

Gorge hiking: day trip option: The renowned gorge at Letchworth State Park makes an excellent day trip from cabin accommodations near Walworth. "With three serious drops in as many miles, the Genesse River winds its way through what locals call the 'Grand Canyon of the East,'" explains one visitor. The park offers both scenic driving routes and hiking trails.

What campers like

Private wooded sites: Webster Park offers cabin sites with natural screening. "This was our first trip here. It was nothing short of perfect. Camp sites are wooded and private. Very quiet and peaceful," writes one camper. This setting provides a more secluded cabin experience compared to other options in the region.

Waterfront proximity: Cabins at Lake Bluff RV Park provide access to Lake Ontario shoreline. Visitors appreciate the lake views, with one noting: "Took a video to show our favorite camp site." Another mentions the "large site near a little stream" and proximity to "chimney bluff state park which are a must see!"

Family-oriented amenities: The Junius Ponds cabin facilities appeal to families seeking recreational options. "This was one of our favorite campgrounds of our cross country journey so far. We were in a long pull through near the front of the campground and it had a large grassy section to the side." The campground maintains a well-maintained pool, playground equipment, and organized weekend events.

What you should know

Reservation timing: Peak cabin rental season runs April through October, with highest demand from Memorial Day through Labor Day. One visitor to Junius Ponds notes: "Most of the sites are for seasonal guests so it can be difficult to get a reservation."

Bathroom facilities vary: While some cabins offer private bathrooms, most require use of central facilities. "Cell phone coverage is poor by Verizon and T-Mobile, and there is no WiFi, and no camp store (but the town of Webster is nearby)," notes a Webster Park camper about additional amenities.

Site configurations: Red's Twilight on the Erie RV Resort offers canal-side cabin options with varying layouts. "Barb and Red are fantastic hosts. They are accommodating and entertaining. Live music on Friday Night (weather permitting) and plenty of activities for the family on the weekends," according to one visitor. However, another mentions: "Almost all of the sites are not even close to level."

Tips for camping with families

Kid-friendly scheduling: Weekends feature more organized activities for children. "This KOA has so much to do between swimming, golf, bike and paddle boat rentals. There's Ziplines with treetop walk and a bounce. And even a play area for your dogs," shares a Canandaigua-Rochester KOA visitor.

Water recreation options: Several properties offer fishing ponds for younger anglers. At Lake Bluff campground, a visitor appreciated the "nice camp store" and that the "pool, frog pond, catch and release fishing" provided entertainment options. Weekend fishing tournaments occur at some properties during summer months.

Indoor alternatives: Sampson State Park maintains recreation facilities for rainy days. "Recreation Hall, swimming, fishing, great lake front playground, camp store, hiking trails (many wheelchair friendly) and boating. This campground is also dog friendly," mentions one reviewer. Another notes the "outdoor movie screen" and "arcade room" as additional entertainment options.

Tips from RVers

Power connections: Prepare for shared electrical boxes at some properties. A Sampson State Park visitor warns: "Electric service boxes are shared in-between sites. This could pose an issue if your power cord is not long enough."

Water access planning: Water fill stations may be limited at certain campgrounds. "There is only source for water fill up. This could end up being a very very long wait if you arrive at the same time as other campers," cautions the same Sampson State Park reviewer.

Site leveling requirements: Some properties require additional leveling equipment. A Twilight on the Erie visitor notes: "Almost all of the sites are not even close to level. Not a big issue with a fifth wheel but a real hassle with a motorcoach."
