    Horrible Customer Service

I would like to start off by saying this was our first time visiting the Medina Wildwood Koa and unfortunately it will have to be our last. Our camp ground it’s self was great. Lots of space, a picnic bench, a fire pit, a grill and even a lake you can fish/rent boats to go on right behind us!

There were many different ways to keep busy and have fun. We were able to float in tubes at the creek, go swimming, rent a peddle boat, play at the playground, rent a golf cart, and jump on a big jumping pillow. And I must say the bathrooms were pristine and air conditioned! Loved that!!

The major problem with this campground is the very rude people. Not only was the customer service absolutely horrible and spoke to not only adults but also children in a very rude harsh way making us ALL feel incompetent/uneducated but the regulars at this campground are just as rude and disrespectful. How can you ever feel welcome or want to come back to a campground with staff saying things like: “You must not know how to read” and clearing there throats very loudly with their arms crossed before telling us other things we may have been doing wrong very sarcastically.

I do admit that we did do some things the wrong way and as soon as we found out or saw on our own we corrected them. It’s just not something I would ever want to endure again especially since my kids feelings were hurt the most and this was ment for them to have fun.

    Niagaras Lazy Lakes Camping Resort

    Clean & Friendly

We have camped here several times. Bathrooms are very clean along with the showers. They are cleaned on a daily basis. Store on site has just the bare amenities. Big clubhouse, 2 heated pools and a pond to fish (catch & release). Sites are big. Pet friendly. Staff are very friendly. 10-15 minutes from Niagara Falls and close to stores. It does have 2 on site laundry facilities but the dryers take a while. Enjoy going there.

    Evangola State Park Campground

    Nice but not great

The facilities in the campground are very good (relatively new bath house with nice clean showers). The campsites are a good size although most have no natural shade or privacy. My only real complaint is that this seemed like a "party park" with music playing and people being loud after quiet hours. In addition, the beach area had a lot of trash laying around.

    Letchworth State Park Campground

    Unexpected Surroundings

In most states, those without falls like Niagara, this state park would be the pride of the land. With three serious drops in as many miles, the Genesse River winds it’s way through what locals call the “Grand Canyon of the East.” Many states try to make such claims, but this might be the closest any come to actually living up to such. It is stunning!

Along the river this park gives the motorist the distinct feel that she is on a parkway, not unlike Shenendoah, or Blue Ridge. Every few miles the winding pavement breaks out onto a few of the ridges and valley below, before ducking back into the forest of Western New York.

The campground, which is about 15 miles from the major falls area, offers what many come to expect from state parks. There are a wide variety of campsites, all reservable online, which can accommodate lots of different types of camping, large RV’s, small tents, and everything in between. Most, if not all, campsites offer electrical and water is available close by.

The bathrooms are practically luxurious by most camping standards, with single-use restroom/ showers available at all hours. The camp store offered a few grocery items, along with cold drinks, firewood and ice in addition to laundry facilities. Within a short walk were many hiking trails, an old-school fitness path, and a stellar playground where anyone under 9 years of age should get a great workout.

But let’s be honest, we’re not coming here for the campground, it’s the rest of the park that makes the drive worth it. So, check it out and get to know this stunning place first hand and be sure to bring a picnic basket.

    Cute cabins and amazing views

    Letchworth State Park Campground

    Amazing state park, crappy campground

The state park is breathtaking. The campground is horrendous. The restrooms were disgusting. The site barely fit our one tent (8man Coleman) even though it was advertised as a two tent site. The camp fire ring had no solid base- it just sat on the grass and fires would not stay lit. The quiet hours were not enforced. Yelling and loud music kept us up until ridiculous hours. I would not rate this as family friendly.

    Letchworth State Park Campground

    Beautiful place

Letchworth is absolutely stunning. The views are beautiful, however the scenic areas are at least a 10 minute drive from the campground. The park is massive.

There is a huge variation in site sizes. We lucked out and got a large site with privacy and an area for the kids to run around, however the site directly across from us was little more than the gravel pad and fire pit. Some of the sites are right on top of each other. Great for group camping, not so much if you want any privacy.

Only two out of the 8 loops (200 and 700 loops) have updated bathrooms (single toilet with handheld showers in half of the bathrooms). The others loops have older facilities with three traditional toilet stalls and two showers.

We loved our site but would’ve preferred to stay in a loop with the updated bath houses as we have younger children and a tent trailer.

All sites have electricity. Some loops are pet friendly, some are pet free. The camp store has a good selection of necessities, albeit expensive for discount brands. The pool is 4-5 miles down the road from the camping area.

    Would absolutely camp here again.

Ontario County Park at Gannett Hill

    Wonderful!

Great secluded tent camping (recomend numbers 7 and 8), cabins are new and ample beds and space. Camper camping is close to everything, but less privacy. Numerous pavilions that are wonderful for parties or weddings. Stunning overlook that is breathtaking (also great for weddings). Hiking, bike trails, fishing pond, playground, open fields for sports, much more!!! Great for photo shoots, weekend stress getaways etc. I live close by and visit a few times a month.

    HTR Niagara Campground

    Neat retreat near the Falls

Great location just 15 minutes from American Falls. Staff is friendly and professional making check-in a breeze. The camp store is a cute, well-stocked and organized "camping boutique". Everything is brand new, modern, immaculately clean. Wish there were more trees and maybe, in time, there will be. The pool is a lazy river, which makes for a relaxing pool deck. I think they're putting in another pool (hopefully larger or more open). Plenty for families to do: mini golf, kayak, basketball, fish, zipline, playground. Bathrooms and showers were IMMACULATE! The campsites are not secluded but, as I said, there may be more trees as time goes on.

Guide to Java Center

Glamping near Java Center, New York offers diverse lodging options within the western New York landscape. The area sits at approximately 1,600 feet elevation in rolling hills, with summer temperatures averaging 75-80°F and cooler 50-60°F nights ideal for campfires. Winter visitors can expect snow cover from December through March, with some sites maintaining year-round operations for cold-weather adventurers.

What to do

Swimming activities: Jellystone Park of Western New York features multiple water recreation options beyond the standard campground pool. "They made recent addition as that are awesome. The added a new section of premium sites (pull-thru and back-in), the added a beach to their pond and allow swimming," notes Amy T., highlighting expanded water activities. The beach area maintains clean conditions according to visitors.

Fall camping events: Halloween weekends at Jellystone Park provide seasonal activities beyond summer offerings. "Our favorite tome of year to cisit is around Halloween. They always have great activities and trick or treating with the kids," explains Erica L. These themed weekends typically run from late September through October, with decorated campsites and organized events for children.

Wildlife programs: Letchworth State Park Campground offers educational nature programming beyond standard hiking. The park's nature center conducts regular guided walks and interpretive programs. "The roads, and trails, and lookout points are all well constructed, and flow well. The scenery is remarkable, and there is a lot of informative boards, dedicated benches that provide a lot of interesting history and information," explains Seth S.

What campers like

Easy theme park access: Six Flags Darien Lake Campground provides walkable access to entertainment options. "This is a large campground. Walking distance to the theme park. Campground fees include admission to the theme park," notes Mary H. This inclusion of park admission represents significant value, particularly for families planning multiple days at the attractions.

Spacious premium sites: Recent campground expansions at Beaver Meadow Family Campground have improved site quality. "They have seasonal and non seasonal sites... Well Sized campsites," reports Amanda K. The non-seasonal sites typically offer more space for short-term visitors with clear site boundaries and established fire rings.

Clean facilities: Bathroom and shower buildings across area campgrounds maintain high standards. "The bathrooms are practically luxurious by most camping standards, with single-use restroom/showers available at all hours," reports Shari G. about Letchworth State Park. These facilities typically include hot water and regular cleaning schedules throughout the day.

What you should know

Reservation timing: Popular glamping sites fill quickly during peak seasons. "Book early. Bring your hiking shoes & camera," advises Rebecca E. about Letchworth State Park. Sites typically open for booking 9-12 months in advance, with holiday weekends selling out within days of availability.

Noise considerations: Concert events at entertainment venues affect noise levels at nearby campgrounds. "I haven't been here in a while but people mostly stay here for one of two reason. Because they don't want to drive home drunk from a concert, or they have 14 loud kids that want to be at the amusement park. Both options come with about 2 hours of sleep," notes Laura Nicole A. about Six Flags Darien Lake Campground.

Pool policies: The Ridge Campsite and other area campgrounds maintain specific swimming area rules. "Had a wonderful weekend and the owner and family were amazing. The pool wasnt open yet but the kids had so much fun on the playgrounds and with all of the other kids," reports Marissa R. Most pools operate from Memorial Day through Labor Day, weather permitting.

Tips for camping with families

Kid-focused amenities: Family-oriented campgrounds offer extensive recreation options. "This place is great for a family. Water park, fishing, kayaking, swimming. It has it all. We went on the 4th of July and they had amazing fireworks and activities galore for the kids," explains Matthew M. about Jellystone Park. The water park areas typically open from 10am-6pm daily, with separate sections for younger children.

Free activities: Look for included recreation options to control costs. "Put put was free. So many things to do with the kids. Heated pools. Beach was clean," reports Sara H. about Jellystone Park. Free mini-golf represents significant savings for families, as similar activities at commercial locations typically cost $8-12 per person.

Playground options: Sleepy Hollow Lake Campground provides multiple play areas for different age groups. "Lots of activities available for both kids and adults. Cozy sites. Clean bathrooms near the campground store," notes Sydney W. The main playground area accommodates children ages 2-12 with separate sections for toddlers and older kids.

Tips from RVers

Site selection: Consider specific RV needs when booking. "Located a short drive to the Falls, on the 'less busy side', to boot! Sites for all types of camping available as well as nice new cabins and yurts for rent!" notes Erin H. Sites numbered in the 300 loop at Beaver Meadow typically offer the most level ground and easiest access.

Access roads: Some campgrounds have challenging approach roads. "Driveway getting in and out is a little tight for big units, definitely have to swing wide," cautions Nick O. about The Ridge Campsite. Larger rigs over 35 feet should call ahead to confirm access and appropriate site assignment.

Hookup considerations: Verify available connections when booking. "Our family travelled here in June 2018. This was one of our favorite stops on our vacation. We had a back in spot but tons of room on our site. All of the sites were roomy. Some are shady. This campground is in a great location and easy to find. The campground was easy to maneuver our large 5th wheel around. There were full hook ups on our site," reports Glynnis A.
