Bouckville, located in Madison County, sits at an elevation of approximately 1,200 feet in central New York's rolling countryside. The area experiences four distinct seasons with warm summers reaching the mid-80s and cold winters that often see below-freezing temperatures. Most campgrounds in the Bouckville region operate seasonally from May through October due to the harsh winter conditions.
What to do
Fishing opportunities: Lebanon Reservoir Campground provides access to excellent fishing in a 75-acre reservoir stocked with bass, pike, and other game fish. "The sites themselves are all in the open, imagine parallel parking your rig off the side of a road, with a nice forest behind you... Way easy access, but not a ton of shade or privacy," notes a camper who appreciated the water access.
Antique hunting: Staying at Butternut Hill RV Campground puts you within walking distance of numerous antique shops. According to one camper, "The campground is in a convenient location in Bouckville, a small upstate NY village with a concentration of numerous antique shops, which is a draw for collectors in the area."
Historic canal hiking: Explore the Chenango Canal Trail accessible from Bouckville's town center. "There is also a famous Inn and restaurant, the Landmark Inn, which anchors the town, adjacent to a trailhead for a hiking trail along the historic Chenango Canal, an offshoot of the Erie Canal," reports a visitor who stayed during the Fiber Festival.

Memorial day weekend the weather is beautiful spring weather. All full hook up sites from full sun to full shade. Been coming here for 25 + years," shares one longtime visitor.
Scenic night skies: The rural setting provides excellent stargazing opportunities. One camper at The Villages RV Park noted, "One of my favorite campgrounds in NY. Its so peaceful at night. My favorite time to come is August during the meteor showers."
Family-friendly amenities: Many rv parks near Bouckville offer recreational facilities for all ages. "There are some great hikes around the campground, as well as excellent playgrounds, fishing, an awesome pool, and of course, free shuttle rides to the Turning Stone Casino right up the street," mentions a visitor to The Villages.
What you should know
Seasonal operation: Most Bouckville area rv campgrounds operate from May through October. The Villages RV Park at Turning Stone specifically lists May-October as their season, while Lebanon Reservoir runs May 15-October 15.
Event-based availability: Woonton Family Farms offers a more intimate camping experience with only two sites. "We had an excellent stay at the farm of the Woonton Family Farms with our RV, it was a cozy and beautiful campsite with personal attention of the owner. We had a great campfire, fresh blackberries and the option of canoeing," reports one international visitor.
Weather considerations: Spring camping can be wet, while summer is prime time. "It rained really hard one day of the event, and though the access roads got a little muddy, the campsites seem well drained and did not get muddy. The campsites all back to the woods on the west side, so this serves as a good windbreak too," noted a camper at Butternut Hill.
