Copake Camping Resort

With sites accommodating RVs up to 125 feet and full hookups including 50-amp service, Copake Camping Resort operates as a seasonal campground from May through October in West Copake. The property requires reservations and charges $79-$229 per night, with approximately 75% of sites occupied by seasonal campers according to recent visitors.

The campground features standard amenities including restrooms, showers, laundry facilities, and WiFi access. A small store operates on-site with competitive pricing, while recreational facilities include an outdoor pool, mini golf course, horseshoe pits, and a game room. However, some campers have noted maintenance concerns in recent seasons. "The once well groomed and maintained place is getting more weedy and unkempt," observed one returning visitor who cited management changes affecting site conditions and customer service quality.

Road access within the campground can become complicated during events when main routes close for activities like cornhole tournaments, potentially requiring navigation through tighter seasonal areas. The campground eliminated its designated tent area, now allowing tents on any site, which has created some conflicts between different camping styles according to multiple reviews.

Check-in occurs at 2 PM with a 10 AM checkout time. For those exploring the broader region, campgrounds near Copake Falls provide additional options within the Columbia County area.

Copake offers good amenities like pools and full hookups in a quiet setting, but recent management changes have led to declining maintenance and poor customer service experiences that several visitors noted.

Relaxing

Nice quiet campground. Outdoor pool, horseshoes, mini golf, outdated playground, Washer/dryers, game room. Nice store with good prices. Check-in 2pm & checkout 10am. Seemed to be about 75% seasonal sights. Full RV hookups with 50 & 30amp services. 3 different types & sizes of rental cabins.

Rude management, no etiquette.

Second time staying here this season. Last time I thought the lack of site knowledge was just a fluke. Now I realize it's a "dont care" attitude of the management and how the young staff was trained.

The negatives... Booked a site in one area of the park because I was told the sites near our friends were full. Asked again at check in and was basically brushed off ( this site upgrade would have actually made more money for the campground) and was again told no and treated like I had asked her for her cc #. Visiting our friends site each day I could see the site I asked about then remained empty the whole time. This exchange took place after I saw the manager respond rudely to a seasonal who was asking about renewal for 2021 and removal of a tree following a recent bad storm. For both of these questions she was told " I've got my hands full, i'll have to call you tomorrow" in a condescending tone. Note: it was not busy at all.

Also during our stay it was conveyed to us by another camper that the seasonals are not happy with the new managment as it seems like they may have hired someone with no camping experience and thus does not truly understand some of the concerns people have. The once well groomed and maintained place ( see my previous review) is getting more weedy and unkempt.

They also now allow tents on any sites as they got rid of the designated tent area. This resulted in 4 sites behind our RV site that had set up spot lights and allowed their dog to wander around freely and crap on our site. This was in addition to them being permitted to cut through sites to access the bathrooms. ( the eliminated tent area was adjacent to the bath house which would have made this a non issue). Lastly they then left the campground in 3 cars mid day and left one dog tied up to a tree barking. Multiple campers from sites near us then went tent to tent seeing if anyone at all was still there. This ,in my opinion, could possibly be avoided if the person who checked them in had gone over things with them. However if its the same rude woman who checked me in i'm sure she did not as she couldn't be bothered to give me a check in packet, just a flyer with events on it. I had to dig out a previous one ( luckily I kept it) to check on certain hours and policies.

They also have a tendency to close one of the main roads in the campground for cornhole tournaments which they'd have plenty of room for without closing the road. This closure then means anyone checking in may have to navigate through a really tight seasonal area to access their site. This is seemingly done without consideration for rig size or angles needed to access sites. There is no escort to sites, even when their road closure has caused confusion or tension.

The positives.... Our site was shady and long. There is a farmers market not far away every Sat. 9-1 Harney and Sons teas is a short 20 min drive.

Clean and peaceful

This was our first time staying since it was no longer a KOA. The comcrete patio sites once nicely maintained with gravel, woodchips and flowers were now just some flowers and weeds. The nice fire ring is still there but mo more chairs. This is the only "complaint" I have, if it really is one. Just needs some TLC on the 4 sites like this that they offer. The rest of the park is clean and peaceful. They offer a mix of site types in both full sun and shaded areas. They also have many nice cabins on site. We have plans to return with friends due to the proximity to home and easy access to local things to do.

Not a KOA now

Good place. They weren't completely ready for Memorial Day. Extreme cancelation policy.
