It’s okay but….

Our site was relatively level, the park pretty quiet. We had a 50 amp connection that dropped L2 sometime in the night. Strangely, it resumed by turning off the 120 breaker. I’m thinking the pedestal has loose wiring but hey, I got the other half of my panel energized without relocating or burning down. Water pressure is around 30 p.s.i. and the sewer drop was threaded. Park cleanliness and ease of navigating was fine. Free WiFi and cable TV connectivity as well as propane for purchase (cash only). I’d give this place 5 stars if I didn’t have to go into the office.

The guy at the desk has his political opinions that he shares unsolicited. I’m game for free speech but geez, I just wanted to rent a space, not become an antisemitic, Putin loving Neo-Nazi misogynist that gets his news exclusively from an echo chamber on Facebook. I was kinda feeling sorry for how low his life must be to have so angst but hey, I just wanted a space, not adopt a

Rude owner

While the park is decent the owner/manager is very rude. I witnessed him being rude to a customer as I was checking in. I figured it was 50/50 so I checked in. They give you a menu for their BBQ restaurant and will deliver to your campsite, just call between 4:30 and 6. I called at 5:30 to order and he rudely told me " there is nothing I can do for you now. I'm busy, maybe I can call you back" I told him not to bother. If their food is anything like his attitude it would be inedible

No Tents

Very nice place. Well maintained & clean! But only RV - was going to tent camp out of the car but host denied. (with a cravat, he offered to 'put me in the back' for a small fee IF I agreed to not abuse the facilities) -apparently he had problems with campers in the past, so, yea, no camping

Santa Rosa, NM…Would stay again

Chris the owner had some bad reviews but honestly he couldn’t have been nicer or more accommodating. Sometimes when I see bad reviews of management I kinda think maybe the reviewer did something that made the management get to that point. They do own the park and it’s their rules!!!!! We had a very easy site to pull into, no septic but we knew that coming in- they do have a dump station. They have a nice clean dog park that mine loved. It’s laid out well, plenty of room and a restaurant that delivers to your camper. What more can you ask for? We loved everything about it. We were over nighters but it would be a great place for a stay with some R &R. Thumbs up!

Did not stay there

I was going to need to cancel my reservation and called two weeks before and was told, we don’t have a cancellation policy. There was nowhere on their site that they didn’t have a cancellation policy.

Good For An Overnight Stay

We pulled into this campground to escape extremely windy conditions.  The park was close to empty when we got there but filled up quickly with others trying to get out of the wind.  The sites are close and they are set up oddly with some campers facing one direction and others going the opposite way.  We had full hook ups including sewer.  Our site shared an electric box with the site beside us.  We didn't use the bathrooms or showers but we looked at them and they were clean.  Old but clean.  The park does have a nice little fenced in dog park so your dog can run off leash.  I would stay here again if I were passing through.  We felt safe here.

Pass this one up!!

The owner Chris Lamb is a piece of work has lots of problems and don’t believe he’s had a good day in a long time, that’s who you will deal with. With that said his campground as it’s called hasn’t been maintained for years, certified dump and stay at your own risk. This place isn’t “pet friendly” you can “only walk your dog on the dirt” ( yelled by Chris across the campground”and what parts are green are ridden with cocker barrels which end up in your dogs feet just going out the door and you will track them back inside and deal with them for days. Don’t waist your time as I said this place hasn’t been maintained for years. I read reviews and gave it a chance, you will be totally disappointed and where the good reviews came from I’ll never know. Good luck!!’

Nice but dusty and kinda tight spaces.

Place was nice and rustic. Only issue we had was we stayed for 5 nights and the park was not full at all but they kept putting 1 nite Rv's by us. FYI, when calling for reservation, request to be in back or at least away from 1 night stay people, if that's what you desire. No issues with the staff. If your nice to them, they will be nice to you.

Objectively Awful

The campground is so close to the highway, we would be just as well rested if we slept in the gravel under an overpass on I40.

The tent area was overgrown and full of burrs.

The bathroom was filthy.

If I could award negative stars I would.

Good overnight, needs a facelift

This campground is just outside Santa Rosa. It accepts Sams, military discount. Old but clean and serviceable. Nice pool, on site restaurant serves good food. Many drive through site with electric and water. Central dump station. Small dog park.

Safe stop over

We stayed here one night on our trip across country. The park was clean and safe. The site was an pull through and needing a little leveling, easy hook up.  The attendant came by to welcome us as we came in late.  We will come again, but will ask to be put further out in a back in if needed to give a little more space between campers (we had one neighbor that sang near the campfire for hours ... ).

Okay for one night

We were just passing through for one night. The spaces are level. It was good to take a hot shower and use the dump on the way out. The grounds could use some TLC. It has been a dry year everywhere. The check-in was uncomfortable as mask wearing was “not my policy” and I was accused of “slithering in” before closing even with a reservation.

Good stop over if passing through & cheap

We just spent 1 night here as we traveled from Colorado to Tennessee. It was great for a stop over, but there isn't much to do around there if you are staying for a long time. The manager was a dry, but he was accommodating and nice enough. We had a W&E only site and they have a dump conveniently on site we used before heading out. There were many sites on the grounds. We had an easy pull through site that was pretty level. Gravel roads throughout but wide and maintained. It was cheap and it worked great for a stopover and for that reason, we'd stay again.

Don't be tricked by these pictures!

The photos that show up above for this campground are actually of Santa Rosa LAKE which is about 20 minutes north on 91. The campground/RV park at this address is definitely more of an RV park. It is very close to I-40, there are streetlight-style lights throughout, and not much in the way of primitive camping. But if you're an RV-er you may love the amenities here, I think there is WiFi and a pool! We are tent campers and continued on up to the lake. The lake is operated by the State Park system. As of October 1, 2020 reservations are required for all state park sites, and they are only open to NM residents! We bent the rules as it was 2 am, and the rangers were cool about it in the morning. There are 2 campgrounds at the lake (Rocky Point and Juniper Park) - only Rocky Point was open currently, presumably for COVID reasons.

Hidden Gem

Stayed one night on the drive back to Texas. Happened upon this place and it was an easy after-hours check-in! Ran into the owner who was working late and he made sure we were settled and checked to see if we needed any help! Plenty of space at the pull through sites with easy hook-up. We will definitely stay here again on our next trip west!
