Tippicanoe Campground and Hidden Valley RV and Golf Park offer camping accommodations near Peterborough, but neither provides dedicated horse facilities. Tippicanoe features water, electric, and sewer hookups with a trout-stocked pond, while Hidden Valley combines camping with golf course access. The campgrounds permit pets, but specific equestrian amenities such as corrals, stalls, or designated horse camping areas are not available. Ramblewood Cabins and Campground, located in the region, maintains tent, RV, and cabin sites with water and electric hookups, though it also lacks specialized horse facilities.

Trail access for horseback riding requires alternative arrangements as these campgrounds do not connect directly to equestrian trail systems. Local regulations typically require horses to remain on designated bridle paths, and riders must supply their own containment systems when staying overnight. Seasonal campers have returned to these properties for years, particularly enjoying the clean facilities and family-friendly atmosphere at Tippicanoe. For equestrians seeking suitable accommodations, contacting the New Hampshire State Parks system or local horse associations may provide information about specialized equestrian camping options not represented in the immediate Peterborough area.

      Tippicanoe Campground

      Clean Family Fun

This campground is run by a very pleasant couple who take great pride in this property. Everything is immaculatefrom the bathrooms, shower, clubhouse, store and grounds so you can relax and know that the kids are safe and you will be stress-freefor your stay. Many seasonal campers have been here for years and keep coming back for the friends and activities. Tthe sites all have water, 50amp and sewer hookups. Very few tenting, mostly RVs on the well laid out grounds where you are not far from the beautiful beach, trout stocked pond and all ammenities. Come here and enjoy yourself with no worries. Rand Pond is the body of water at the campground and is restricted to under 10 HP boats. It is stocked with rainbow trout by the State of NH and is a spring fed sandy bottom pond.

Hidden Valley RV and Golf Park

Pleasant staff, but campsite was unimpressive

The staff were friendly and helpful. We spent one night and did not visit any of the facilities, but all looked clean and well staffed.

Unfortunately, I can’t give high marks to our campsite. The water and electric were between our site and the next on one side and sewer between our site and the one on the other side. This made it difficult to place our trailer on the slanted site and reach all services. The site had very long grass, bare rock and mud. It was not a site we would have wanted to stay on any longer than the one night.

Hidden Valley RV and Golf Park

Family-owned campground with lots to do

This campground is 1300 acres owned and operated by the Simonsen family in Derry, NH. The main attraction of this campground is the golf course of 9 or 18 holes. There is a pro shop, golf cart rentals, etc. There are 300 camping sites with full hookups. Very reasonably priced at $40 per night. A lot of the campers are seasonal which is May - October each year. I did not see any tents there, only hard-sided units. The amenities are state of the art, clean laundry center, restrooms, bath house, grocery store, bar & grill, playground & 2 swimming beaches. We had interactions with both Drew & Lauri Simonsen (brother & Sister) during our 2 night stay. Our generator was down and we needed to pick up our friend at the airport. Lauri loaned us her minivan to go to the airport and Drew loaned us some tools to work on the RV. They were so helpful and treated us like family. The kids were given a lot of grace and hung out in the grill/game room area for hours on end to use the wi-fi. I can't say enough about the customer service here. Anyone in this area should check it out.

    Guide to Peterborough

Campsites near Peterborough, New Hampshire offer various accommodation options within the Monadnock Region's rolling hills and dense forests. Located approximately 1,000 feet above sea level, the area experiences distinct seasonal changes with warm summers and snow-covered winters. Local campgrounds range from full-service RV parks to rustic tent sites, with several properties featuring fishing ponds and recreational amenities for visitors.

    What to do

Golf while camping: Hidden Valley RV and Golf Park combines camping with a 1,300-acre property featuring both 9 and 18-hole options. "The main attraction of this campground is the golf course of 9 or 18 holes. There is a pro shop, golf cart rentals, etc.," notes Christy C., who appreciated the comprehensive facilities.

Trout fishing: Tippicanoe Campground maintains a stocked pond for guests seeking freshwater fishing opportunities. According to David G., "Rand Pond is the body of water at the campground and is restricted to under 10 HP boats. It is stocked with rainbow trout by the State of NH and is a spring fed sandy bottom pond."

Explore nearby parks: While equestrian facilities are limited at horse campgrounds near Peterborough, New Hampshire, riders can trailer to surrounding state parks for day rides. Several state parks within an hour's drive permit horseback riding on designated trails during specific seasons.

    What campers like

Clean facilities: Campground maintenance receives consistent praise from visitors to the Peterborough area. A guest at Hidden Valley RV and Golf Park reports, "The amenities are state of the art, clean laundry center, restrooms, bath house, grocery store, bar & grill, playground & 2 swimming beaches."

Hospitality: Personal attention from campground owners stands out in reviews. At Hidden Valley, one camper recounted, "We had interactions with both Drew & Lauri Simonsen (brother & Sister) during our 2 night stay. Our generator was down and we needed to pick up our friend at the airport. Lauri loaned us her minivan to go to the airport and Drew loaned us some tools to work on the RV."

Spacious sites: Ramblewood Cabins and Campground receives positive feedback for its layout. Anne G. commented, "We have stayed here a few times and really enjoyed sites and hospitality!" The campground provides water and electric hookups with scenic views of the surrounding landscape.

    What you should know

Limited equestrian camping: Traditional horse campgrounds near the Peterborough region are scarce. Campers traveling with horses must typically arrange separate accommodations for their animals or seek specialized facilities farther from town.

Seasonal considerations: Most campgrounds operate from May through October, with limited winter availability. Water systems are typically winterized during colder months, restricting full hookup access.

Site quality variations: Even within the same campground, site conditions can differ significantly. At Hidden Valley, one reviewer noted, "Unfortunately, I can't give high marks to our campsite. The water and electric were between our site and the next on one side and sewer between our site and the one on the other side. This made it difficult to place our trailer on the slanted site and reach all services."

    Tips for camping with families

Safety-focused environments: Parents appreciate properties with clear safety measures. At NV Farms Outfitters and Cabins, primitive tent sites and cabins provide family-friendly accommodations with basic amenities including potable water, fire rings, and picnic tables.

Activity planning: Schedule around peak usage times for amenities. Weekends typically see higher occupancy at swimming areas, golf courses, and fishing spots throughout the region's campgrounds.

Alternative horseback experiences: For families seeking equestrian activities without horse transport requirements, contact local stables near Peterborough for guided trail rides as day trips from your campsite.

    Tips from RVers

Hookup logistics: Full-service sites with water, electric, and sewer connections are available at several campgrounds, but placement can present challenges. Check the specific location of utility connections before setting up, as one camper at Hidden Valley reported difficulty positioning their trailer to reach all services.

Size restrictions: While several campgrounds advertise as big-rig friendly, access roads and site dimensions vary. Jelena's Campground and other smaller properties may have limited space for larger rigs, making advance inquiries about maximum length accommodations essential.

Dump station availability: Not all campgrounds with water and electric hookups offer on-site dump stations. Confirm waste disposal options when booking, especially for longer stays requiring black water management.
