The Mill Creek Campground is a fantastic place to stop and have a picnic, talk a walk, listen to the creek or set up camp for a few days. Located roughly 30 miles south of Battle Mountain, Nevada, the Mill Creek Campground strikes a nice balance of being immersed in the outdoors but is close enough to town if you forgot something for the camping trip. The Mill Creek site was originally a CCC camp, Civilian Conservation Corps, which was a public work relief program developed to help with unemployed during the Great Depression. Through the course of its nine year in operation, 3 million young men participated in the CCC program, which provided them with shelter, clothing and food, together with a wage of $30 per month. The Mill Creek CCC Camp was eventually shut down when the program ended and was soon after identified as a recreation area and has been that way ever since. Today, roughly 30,000 people visit the Mill Creek Campground each year to enjoy the natural beauty and proximity to other incredible recreation activities available in northeastern Nevada.

WHERE THE FRONTIER IS AT YOUR DOORSTEP While New Frontier RV Park wasn’t around when Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid robbed the First National Bank of Winnemucca on September 19, 1900, we are sure they would have found a way to stay with us, enjoy the great outdoors and maybe they would have decided not to rob the bank on the way to becoming infamous outlaws. Make your reservations today and see if you can solve the controversy over whether or not it really was the “Wild Bunch.”

    Welcome to the High Desert!

If you would like to put in a request to book, please give your Host a call at 1-775-374-0136 so he can go over your needs.

Each site can accommodate one truck and trailer/RV. If you are planning on bringing additional vehicles, please reserve an additional site.

Situated on a mountain ridge top with great big sky views, our pick-your-own RV campsites share the property with our nearby BioHome Research Facility.

We are 420 friendly, but please, no loud parties or hard drugs.

Spread out over 40 acres, if you're looking for stillness and serenity, this is the place to be. Need a break from the hustle and bustle of the city, but still need to stay connected in some ways? Our property has great cell service, so you can still easily communicate with your loved ones back home.

Interested in learning about off-grid living?

Nestled nearby on the property is our BioHome Research Facility, cared for and designed by your Host, Edward. Unique in its construction, this BioHome was constructed in 1997 and is designed to have completely closed, self-supporting life support systems. If the idea of living in a completely self sufficient, off-grid home is appealing and fascinating to you, please add the BioHome Experience Extra to your booking, at $35. Your Host will spend an hour with you and your group explaining the inner workings and construction of the Biohome.

Please note, you are camping nearby Project Biohome. While we encourage your interest and curiosity in our project, please do not trespass onto this portion of the property.

    Looking for paranormal activity?

Our location does experience a variety of paranormal activity, including orbs. Have your camera ready!

"In a lifetime of photography this was the first of multiple unexplained photography events including dancing light streaks and unusual light trails. This place is magical." - Sincerely Patrick Leon

Our property gets plenty of sunshine for most of the year in the summer months, with temperatures in July and August reaching the high 90's or more. We are in the desert, after all! Please bring plenty of water and be prepared for the elements that are unique to our region. As we are at considerable elevation, please be prepared for wind, as well! Tents are not suited for this environment.

Activities on the property and nearby:

Looking for that gorgeous Milky Way? Our property has some of the best star gazing anywhere in the country. At such a high elevation and away from all the light pollution, the stars just shine brighter here.

Plenty of sunshine for most of the year in the summer months, July and August it can get very hot. In the Winter you can take off in almost any direction on your snow shoes and cross country skis.

Only 90 minutes away are the stunning Ruby Mountains, great for hiking and exploring. As one Google reviewer said "Don't come here. It's just too beautiful and you wont be able to handle it!" - Jacob L.

Bring your fishing poles and watersports supplies, as the nearby South Fork Reservoir and Wild Horse Reservoir 90 minutes away are popular spots with the locals for fishing and fun in the sun by the water.

In the Winter months you can take off in any direction on your snow shoes and cross country skies for miles. There are exciting views everywhere you look! This is big sky country with great night sky views. If you're looking for a great dark sky destination, this is the spot for you.

This area has lots of wildlife like antelope, badgers, rabbits and this is open range for cattle. You may have a cow visitor! Please make sure to keep all food properly stored and disposed of so as to not attract wildlife to your campsite. Please be aware you may encounter wildlife and plan accordingly.

The never-ending changes in the sky (great storms and colorful sunsets) are humbling. The world goes on around me with little effect on my lifestyle. This is a majestic area with 11,000 ft. mountain peaks, great canyons and upper valleys.

Overnight stays are allowed in two areas within the refuge boundary - on E Division Rd, 3 miles off Hunter Rd., and about 9 miles North on Hunter Rd. The overnight area is just before you cross the canal near the Center Rd intersection. Both sites are near vault toilets, but that's it for development and comfort - these are primitive sites with no other features! There are no fees for overnight stays, but they are limited to four (4) consecutive nights at one location, not to exceed twelve (12) consecutive nights on the refuge.
