Best RV Parks & Resorts near Kootenai National Forest

CAMPER SUMMARY PRESENTED BYFord

RV parks near Kootenai National Forest provide full-service sites surrounded by mountain views. Woodland RV Park in Libby offers full hookups including water, sewer, and both 50-amp and 30-amp electric connections on level sites between April and October. "Sites are, level. Full hookups. Bathrooms are good," noted one visitor who appreciated the campground's proximity to town while still offering shade. Two Bit Outfit RV Park, also in Libby, provides big-rig friendly sites with 50-amp electric, water and sewer connections from April through November. The RV Resort at Indian Springs Montana features 95 spacious sites with both 50-amp and 30-amp service, while Whitefish RV Park accommodates both drive-in and walk-in RV setups with full hookups.

Throughout the Kootenai region, most RV parks remain open seasonally from spring through fall, with only select locations offering year-round accessibility. Motorhome travelers should check road conditions when accessing remote areas, especially during shoulder seasons when weather can impact travel. Most parks near Libby and Eureka provide sanitary dump stations, with several offering on-site showers and laundry facilities. Cell service varies significantly across the forest area—while coverage is generally reliable near towns like Whitefish, reception becomes spotty in valleys and mountainous terrain. A traveler noted: "There is no wifi and cell service isn't available at the sites down the hill. At the top of the hill usually around 3-4 bars." Pet policies differ between parks, with most allowing dogs but requiring them to be leashed in common areas, though some parks feature dedicated off-leash dog areas for exercise.

    Whitefish RV Park

    Great location with AWESOME rates

Stayed here as part of a 12 day vacation. Nice small rv park just behind a hotel which muffled the street noise a bit. I'd say 40% ish of the park is long term residents, but they were all friendly and stoped by to talk and talk about our rig. The couple who run it are incredibly nice. We were about 75 yards from the showers/bathroom which was nice. This was the first time for us to stay in an RV site with the roof top tent which we took advantage of with an electric heater and blanket for the nights. It was needed because it was high 30's in the mornings. The Glacier Nation Park gate was about 25 miles away. There were a ton of great restaurants and shops near by. I'd highly recommend stopping by the Army Navy Surplus store next to the rv park! I could see if your towing a fifth wheel or have a long setup this location could be a tight squeeze. Ohhhh yeah there is this town siren that goes off every night at 10p sharp...there is a reason behind this with some history, pretty cool...I'll let you look into that!!

    Heritage Cabin Property

    The Perfect Base Camp

Located with Kootenai National Forest all around and GNP West entrance just an hour and a half drive, Heritage Cabin and Heritage Park Campground has been the chosen jumping off point for many explorers. Not only that, the Rooseville border crossing is roughly an hour north so it's a convenient waypoint coming from or going to our Canadian neighbor. There is a nicely stocked fuel station complete with produce, hot case and beer just about four miles away. There are so many destinations for the outdoors folk from swimming and paddleboarding to fishing and mountain biking. The campground consists of a single site which can accommodate a group of up to six people and an RV or Travel Trailer up to 24'. Potable water on site in addition to both 30 & 50amp receptacles. There is even an off leash yard for doggos to run.

At the Heritage Cabin guests share the grounds, kitchen, bath, living and dining areas with two rooms upstairs which each have a max occupancy of two people as well as an adjacent one room cabin that has a single bed. There's a fenced yard off the back porch and a large lawn area that sweeps down to a seasonal irrigation creek.

    North Haven Campground

    Cutest Little Campground

This little campground was an awesome find! We rolled in last minute while passing thru town and snagged a pull thru site with electric and water. Sites have fire pits and picnic tables. They also have adorable cabins, glamping wagons and a tipi avoidable to reserve. The office/camp store is great, they’ve got a good selection of cool stuff to browse through. Firewood was available for sale. Front porch of the office/store has a chest freezer with ice and ice cream for sale. There’s also a foosball table, a table for checkers and a little bookshelf library to take/leave a book. The bathhouse was hands down the nicest camp bathrooms we’ve ever used! Showers were amazing! The laundry was great… $2.50 a load, either wash or dry and conveniently accessible 24 hours a day. There’s a large lighted pavilion with picnic tables, cornhole boards with bags, and a dartboard. There’s also a small playground and a hot tub available to use! This campground was so well maintained, the employees friendly and helpful, and it’s just a really sweet, family-friendly, quiet campground. We loved it!

    Whispering Pines RV Park

    July 2025

Stayed here for 4th of July with some friends. Campground overall is fine. Big sites for rigs just close together. Have a huge dog park as well as a dump station/water fill up. Also have large laundry room which is nice. 2 bath houses with clean facilities. Also a great location - between Glacier NP & Whitefish. Knocking off a star because picnic tables are stained but not sealed (ruined a pair of sweats sitting on it) and staff was a little rude.

    Mountain View RV Park

    Great spot to stay!

Great place to stay. Big grassy area in the middle of the RV park with picnic tables, great for walking dogs or just relaxing in the grass. There is also a small basketball court. Minimal bugs- just a few knats that would seek out the lights at night. Site was level and just enough space for trailer and truck(a bit crowded but worked), full sun, no shade and a picnic table. Splitter on the water spiket provided. Light road noise from hwy nearby, but not bad. Customer service was nice and accommodating.$2 wash/$2 dryer so a little high, but the laundry services were clean. Gravel back-in site, asphalt roads, great for strolling around in the evening.

We stayed for 7 days so paid for 6 and the 7th was free. They also accept Good Sam members.

The wifi was a tad slow, but for the most part worked pretty good. Hotspot on cell for video calls and Netflix though.

Close to the grocery(Super 1 Foods) and 2 miles from the rodeo grounds and Blue Moon Nite Club where they have a weekly Thursday Rodeo in the summer. It was fun! Very accessible to Whitefish, Kalispell, downtown Columbia Falls, Hungry Horse, and Glacier National Park.*The cajun restaurant in Whitefish Tupelo Grille was awesome!!

    Dunn Creek Flats Campground

Peaceful Riverside Camping (if you don't count been awoken by Bald Eagles)

We stayed here off season, we pulled our trailer through a pull through site on the edge of the river. You could walk down to the river and fish in the river, but it wasn't really a place for people or pets to play. The sites are primitive with fire rings but no power or water hookups.

The campground is pretty small, has big trash bins to avoid bears, but it didn't look like it was a problem when we were there.

There are roads on both sides of the river, one being the highway, but the river helps drown out some of the road noise. The mountains are tall on either side of the river valley and so the sun goes down a little sooner than expected, but the views from camp are nice. There is a big open area in the center of the playground for people and pets to run around.

We would definitely stay here again.

    North Haven Campground

    Awesome facility

Modern and beautiful campground. Close to all the wonders of Idaho's panhandle. They have several back in and pull through sites with more on the way. Choice of full hookups, or water and electric. Their showers are emaculant and luxurious. Wife refused to use ours. They have luxury cabins and covered wagon glamping. Very family and senior friendly. Reasonably priced, can't loose booking here.

    Bull River Guard Station

    Awesome Historic Cabin

This old Guard Station is in the perfect location. Easy to drive to and close to miles and miles of trails in the Kootenai National Forest. Plenty of beds for a full family - four upstairs and one downstairs. History galore in the building and surrounding areas. Some complaints of mice - but that’s to be expected from a building from 1908.

    Bull Lake

    Quiet and secluded

Less than five miles from the highway, this is a nice sized lake stocked with fish. There were a pair of white swans on the lake when I was there but no one else around. A large parking area, could accommodate a travel trailer or two in addition to a couple tent sites with fire rings. One picnic table with a fire pit and rock fire rings at the tent sites. There are two access roads, the first is more appropriate for van, truck or hike in to tent site. Not a lot of turn around room, wouldn't bring a trailer in. Second turn off goes to a much larger area, multiple sites and boat launch access to the lake.
