Berryman Trail & Campgrounds - Mark Twain National Forest

It's a nice lil place to camp but the camp sites r not that big

Great lowkey campground with basic bathroom and water pump. The space was perfect for me and a couple buddies going on a road trip. We almost had the place to ourselves. The trail was really cool and we saw a wild turkey nest with eggs!

I like that quite surroundings. But as a July 1 2024 they started cutting the timber. An they are going to a paid camping area. They have fire rings, tables and blacktop parking spots.
It's a shame it's going to cost to be here.

Enjoyed the peaceful stay with nature. Enjoyed listening to the wind in the pine trees. It was a relaxing week. Will do again.

The Berryman trail runs straight through the campground. One of two campgrounds on the Berryman Trail. The other is Brazil Creek. This is the larger and more popular place to camp.

If you're wanting a ton of privacy, this campground isn't for you. In a great location, especially if you're coming from the north and this is an overnight stop before you head farther south. Did a short walk on some of the trails for hiking/biking/riding and they seemed great. Well kept area with a fire ring and table, vault toilets but no water. Would recommend.

Stayed 1 night and it was very enjoyable. Clean bathroom. Pretty creek right behind campsite. Enjoyable walking trails.

Great location with easy access to trails. Drive in spot, fire ring, latern holder, and restrooms make it convenient choice. Only real downside is the spots are fairy close together providing minimal privacy.

The campsites are good size and great for tents and hammocks. AT&T and Sprint have only enough service to make calls at the sites. Prescribed burn closed all the trails at the trailhead so we took a drive up to Brazil Creek trailhead. The trails there were one of a kind and the best looking trails I’ve seen and walked on after going on trips to almost half the country. The 100 foot tall pine trees really make Mark Twain National Forest amazing. Overall, great campground and will be going back soon.

This campground is completely free and most of all well spaced out. There is plenty of room to keep to yourself and remain undisturbed between the 8 available spots. Far from the road so no noise or blaring light. Nearby are a variety of trails of varying lengths. The gravity toilet is well maintained but no access to water. Very few bars so don’t expect to get any service and you won’t be disappointed. We will be back!

Sites for RVs are not level. Too close to the county road. Nice picnic pavaion.bar b q grills are nice. Pit toilet is a plus. I drove through to check it out for free Camping, I didn't like it. Probuly will not stay there.

Big and spacious sites. First come first serve. You can fit multiple tents on one site. Amenities are limited especially during the off season. The closest town consists of one gas station (who serves a great breakfast)

Came here to experience the Ozarks. We were not disappointed. The campground was part of the Civilian Conservation Corp camp. It's remote and off the beaten path. A small campground with only 8 spots, some big enough for RVs. No hook ups or water. Pack it in and pack it out. Each site had enough space from each other. Some sites had a picnic table. There was a pond we found right behind our site. There was also a large picnic shelter at the campground. Clean pit toilets. The trailhead to the BerryMan Trail is there. This is a 24 mile trail we backpacked overnight to the Brazil Creek campground and back. Only ones on the trail. Just left our van overnight in the lot instead of the campground and felt completely safe. Lots of flowers on the trail. Someone put up a flag. Didn't find Bigfoot, (although we were warned by some locals at the campground :) There were some horses and riders around the campground. We would definitely come back to this place.

Berryman Campground is a lot like many of the dispersed campsites in Kentucky. You run through a visitor center in the area and get your permit then go find a campsite and set up your base camp.

No anemities here. Including the pit toilet which smells so ripe I would much rather use my hand trowel to dig a pit to use! You can bring your cell phone however it will pretty much be a paper weight until you return to civilization.

Pavillion, parking and horse tie out area adjacent trailhead.

Excellent place to bring the kids if you want to unplug them from the media world. Trails and bugs and things that go bump in the night. Pack the marshmallows and leave the electronics at the house.

Quiet, DARK and movie comparison ready ( Blair, Wild, Deliverience or Bambi you be the director ;)

Off the beaten path, with only one vault toilet, and zero amenities. The serenity would be worth the work to pack in and out everything you need, including water. Some great trees and good cinfigurations for Tentile tree tents!!
