      Hernando Point

      Hernando Point

We enjoyed staying so close to the water. We fished right from the bank (must have a MS license). The water, electric, and sewer hook-ups are very close to the site. The picnic, grilling, and fire pit area is nice. The parking area is only wide enough fir the camper. It would be nice to have a paved space under our awning. We were disappointed in the amount of trash along the bank of the lake. We picked up an entire trash bag full when we arrived and more throughout the weekend. Overall it was a great trip and we will be back.

Also, the beach area down the road at the boat ramp is closed for construction. It will be nice when it reopens.

      Graceland RV Park & Campground

Decent campground just a short walk to Graceland

Best thing about campground is how close it is to Graceland. 24/7 security. Staff onsite in office from 9 am to 4 pm. Checkin and checkout time is 11 am. Sites are gravel. Campground can accommodate all sizes of rvs. Dogs welcome. Bathrooms are clean and functional, just need a bit of cosmetic updating (peeling paint, missing tiles). Laundry on site. Area on north side of campground for tents and small rvs with electric and water only. All other sites have full hookups which include sewer. No dump station on site. Must call to make reservations, no online option. Good Sam affiliate.

      Long weekend trip

Our site is right on the lake with a great fishing spot. The area for grilling and eating and fire pit is nice. The electric, water, and sewer hookups are very close. The parking area is not very wide. Only wide enough for the camper. I wish there was a better are for enjoying time under the awning. I was disappointed in the trash located along the bank of the lake. We cleaned up an entire trash bag full an then more along the way. Overall it’s a great campground and we would stay here again.

John W. Kyle State Park Campground

      Great location, not well kept

When you arrive the office is closed, just a phone number to check in. Very poor signage, sites are poorly marked. No lights for late arrivals. Branches down in the roads and sites. Roads had poor drainage and large puddles. Sites are paved and fairly level. You may need a long potable water hose, 50+ feet. The bathhouse was heated with hot showers and clean toilet stalls. This is a fishing hotspot with lots of boats and folks fishing from the shores. Sardis Lake is impressive and attracts hundreds of sportsmen. This is an inexpensive and convenient location if you have modest expectations.

      Wallace Creek

      Loved it, very relaxing!

This is another great Corps of Engineers parks where you find really nice campsites set on great waterfront setting. The campground sits on Enid Lake which is recognized as one of “One of America’s Top 10 Fishing Spots.” And since the park is just shy of 100 sites you don’t feel like it is not too big. Plan on staying here for a couple of days and relaxing in the outdoors. Stock up on supplies because there is not much around. Sites are really nice and spacious with paved driveways and patios.

They just added sewer with makes a full hookup at $20/night a total bargain. Each site has a fire pit, picnic table, bbq grill, small concrete stand next to bbq, and lantern crook. The bathhouse was modern with flush toilets with clean showers. Not all sites are level in fact we had to pass up a couple because of that reason. If you come in the off-season, there are plenty of sites not reserved so you can drive around and pick on using the self-pay system. Some sites have amazing water views if you are able to snag one of those you are in for a great stay. The campground is pretty hilly but the roads were easy enough for us to navigate in our 45’ RV and tow car .

The lake is very popular for fishing and there is a boat launch/fish cleaning station. We didn’t have fishing licenses but loved paddling around the lake. The North Mississippi Fish Hatchery(by the Enid Dam) is a fun place to visit and tour for very small fee. If you go into the town of Pope, the restaurant "The Place" offers good food set in a refurbishing an historic building.

      Eagle Point Primitive Campground

      A Scenic Stay

The campground is located in a beautiful spot on a peninsula with great views of Grenada lake at both sunrise and sunset. The tent pads are nice and each camp has a grill and a nice marble picnic table. Several camps have fire pits, trash cans, and water faucets. There is a nice public restroom just a short walk from any camp. The sounds of the water crashing on the shores around you and the birds singing at sunrise are utterly calming. The only problem is the occasional truck that passes through to sit listening to music or use the campground road as a turn around. This could be fixed if the gate at the entrance were kept closed and only opened for actual campers.

      Eagle Point Primitive Campground

Good views, launch and 2 swimming areas

Part of the day use area has been converted into a campground in 2018. There are eight campsites, each with a level gravel pad tent area, picnic table and grill. There is group fire pit area, with a picnic table. Unfortunately, the only place to have a fire at your campsite is in the grill. None of the sites have electricity. There is a central water spigot. The restroom has flush toilets, but no showers. You can go to one of the other many Corps of Engineers campgrounds nearby to shower. Both times we have stayed here, we were the only ones there. It's so new, almost no one knows of its existence. To either side of it, there is a swimming area in the day use area and at the boat launch / swimming beach. All sites have a water view.

      EZ Daze RV Park

      Clean, concrete pads, good showers.

Ez Daze RV Park, Southaven, MS - We stayed one night in November. Easy pull through, level concrete site so we didn’t have to unhitch, very clean bathrooms and showers. They have two regular shower stalls which are extremely shallow and one ADA stall with pull down bench. We didn’t have much interaction with the staff because as soon as I walked in, about 4p, I was directed to find my site information outside in the after hours arrival box. Great if you’re looking for contactless registration or do in fact arrive after hours. There was debris in our space that must have been left by the previous camper and we had to get out and clear it before we could pull into the site. Appeared to be large broken pieces of a heavy plastic bumper. (Reason for 4 stars instead of 5) Strong wifi, cable reception wasn’t great. Code to the bathrooms, which is appreciated especially as the park is located in a business area and backs up to a residential neighborhood. Asphalt in front of office in extremely bad condition so be careful as you drive through. Nice office. They have plenty of long termers and there are two large receptacles outside the front office for package delivery. The park is easy access from I-55 and sits next to several RV dealers. Great place to stay if you want to have a look at some new trailers or motor homes. Also, a Tanger Outlet is just down the road. Full hook up, 50 amp site was $70, 63.00 with our Good Sam card which we think was a bit pricey. Oddly, there was only one trash receptacle in the entire park.

    What to do

Fishing opportunities: Enid Lake, located about 25 miles south of Sardis, provides excellent fishing opportunities and is recognized for its bass fishing. "Enid Lake has an earthen dam and was built for flood control. We enjoyed the nearby North Mississippi Fish Hatchery and Visitors Center," notes a camper at Wallace Creek.

Disc golf course: Wall Doxey State Park maintains a disc golf course through pine forests. "The highlight for us is the disc golf course the winds through the pine forest," explains a reviewer at Wall Doxey State Park Campground, though they caution about ticks during warmer months.

Lake exploration: Puskus Lake offers a quiet setting for paddling. "Fun little quick trip to paddle around in kayak, fish & enjoy great meal over grill," shares a visitor at Puskus Lake. The lake has wide docks with bench seating for relaxing near the water.

    What campers like

Spacious sites: Many campgrounds in the area offer generous camping spaces. At Hernando Point, campers appreciate the room to spread out: "Had a huge spot with lots of shade. Only complaint was there was no playground in the actual camping area."

Water views: Lakefront sites are highly valued across several campgrounds. "Sites are paved and full hookups at site. Nice view!" reports one camper about Hernando Point, while others mention the beautiful lake setting with reasonable prices for water and electric hookups.

Private spots: Some campgrounds offer secluded sites away from crowds. At Dub Patton Campground, "Site 9 and site 10 are by far the most beautiful sites in the camp in my opinion. They are right on the lake and relatively separate from the other sites."

    What you should know

Water hookup placement: At John W. Kyle State Park, water access can be challenging. "The water spigot was in several inches of water," reports one camper, while another mentions, "We did have to buy an extra hose to reach water hookup but other than that, it was good."

Maintenance issues: Some state parks in the area need updates. "Mississippi needs to put some funding behind the park, could be a real gem. Overall we had a great stay and I would recommend the campground," notes a camper about Wall Doxey State Park.

Variable bathroom conditions: Bathroom facilities vary widely between campgrounds. "The bathroom does not have AC or a fan, so it was a total sweat box," warns one reviewer about John W. Kyle State Park, while more positive reports exist at other locations.

Bugs awareness: Prepare for insects, especially in wooded areas. "The pollen had come out - looked like snow falling in my headlamp," notes a camper at George P. Cossar State Park, and others mention bringing bug spray during warmer months.

    Tips from RVers

Leveling challenges: Some sites require additional preparation. "Most sites in the northern part are grown up in weeds and the concrete tables were in bad shape," reports one RVer about John W. Kyle State Park, while another mentions, "Not all sites are level in fact we had to pass up a couple because of that reason."

Power management: At EZ Daze RV Park, electrical issues have been reported: "We experienced a problem with our Powerdog 50 EPO Surge protector getting an E1 and E2 code error from the pedastals. The errors state that if the power is above 132 or below 104 on line 1 (E1) or line 2 (E2) it will shut off park power."

Dumping options: Some parks offer convenient dump stations. At Wallace Creek, "Dump station on the way out. Lot of storm damage trees made firewood plentiful," notes a satisfied camper about the facilities.
