    Dunns Falls Water Park

    Okay for one night

Camping area is about five tables and grills scattered on edge of property. No real sites (no tent pads, no fire rings). Surprisingly little regulation: fires allowed anywhere, swimming “not recommended.” The friendly camp hosts actually encouraged me to camp in the day use/picnic area, since it is closer to the flush restrooms. Water spigots scattered around but most don’t work. Gate to park locks at 5pm (key provided at check in) which is nice for security. Clean area. Close to a highway but few cars traveling at night. I was the only person camping on a weekday.

$15/night. Not bad considering the locking gate and restrooms with water. The historical structures are neat, as is the waterfall. The whole park can be explored in less than an hour, so I can’t imagine staying multiple nights.

    Turkey Creek Water Park

    On the Turkey Creek reservoir

By “water park” they mean “park with recreation activities on the water” not a man made park with slides and rides. This was devastating news for our friend’s young daughter! Enjoy fishing and especially water skiing with your own boat or a boat rented on site. There is mountain biking and hiking (all easy trails), a sandy beach, and just a nice relaxing atmosphere. The campgrounds are simple but modernized, moderate size, . They have a large building to rent for reunions.

Yay: great peaceful area with classic MS views. Wooded and private campsites.

Nay: costs a little more to access the lake (not bad, just a surprise). Not too far from Jackson so it felt a little crowded.

Surprise: we stayed here when the sites in the nearby National Forest were full and enjoyed it so much we added a day to our trip. That you can rent boats on site makes it so much easier!

    Dunns Falls Water Park

    Hope your into waterfalls

If your looking for a really cool waterfall to go checkout this is your spot. Other than that I wouldn’t recommend camping there any longer than one or two nights at the most. (The water wheel does not work FYI) We will continue to stop by in passing but that’s about it. We also went at a bad time after the rain is not the ideal time the water was really high and the current was rapid

    Dunns Falls Water Park

Quiet place to stay the night

Lots of stairs to descend/ascend to get to the bottom of the falls. Nice historical building. I was the only camper there when I stayed. Very quiet.

The park maintains separate areas for horseback riders with trail access directly from the campground. Located near Decatur, Mississippi, approximately 20 miles from Enterprise, the area connects to multiple riding paths through wooded terrain at elevations between 300-400 feet above sea level. Weather conditions remain mild through spring and fall, with hot, humid summers typical of east-central Mississippi.

What to do

Trail riding opportunities: Turkey Creek's trail system accommodates riders of various skill levels with well-maintained paths. Waterfall exploration: Dunns Falls Water Park, located 7 miles southwest of Enterprise, offers a unique natural attraction for day trips from equestrian campsites. Other than that I wouldn't recommend camping there any longer than one or two nights at the most," shares Sippi's S. in a review of Dunns Falls Water Park.

Fishing access: Multiple water bodies near Enterprise provide fishing opportunities when not riding. "Lilly pads and bass," notes Brad O. succinctly about the fishing conditions at Turkey Creek reservoir, where anglers can catch largemouth bass, crappie and bream.

What campers like

Spacious grounds: The dedicated equestrian camping areas provide ample room for trailers, horses, and camping equipment. "This is one of the best campgrounds around hands down plenty of space not crowded and the people that work there are super friendly and helpful. We go there all the time," reports Tony H. about his experience at Turkey Creek Water Park.

Peaceful atmosphere: The separation between standard camping and equestrian areas creates a quiet environment. "Quite and peaceful small campground with bathroom, hot showers and laundry available. Nice campsite with lake view. Staff is friendly," writes Cindy S. about her stay at Turkey Creek.

Natural features: The combination of water access and forested areas appeals to campers. At nearby Big Creek Water Park, "Tent camping with the family was a great time. Grounds are nice with boat access. Clean restrooms," according to casey P.'s review of Big Creek Water Park.

What you should know

Seasonal considerations: While Turkey Creek remains open year-round, trail conditions vary seasonally. Spring brings muddy sections after rain, while summer heat requires morning or evening rides. Fall offers the most comfortable riding weather with temperatures between 65-80°F.

Site availability: Equestrian sites can fill quickly during peak season (March-May and September-November). "Small campground on a lake. Pretty and quiet. Recent work on campsites to create level sites. Enjoy camping there," mentions Nelwyn B. about Turkey Creek Water Park.

Facility details: Restrooms and shower facilities remain accessible to equestrian campers. "Gate to park locks at 5pm (key provided at check in) which is nice for security. Clean area," notes Gregory H. about facilities at Dunns Falls, which follows similar security protocols to other parks in the region.

Tips for camping with families

Water activities complement riding: When horses need rest, families can enjoy water recreation. "By 'water park' they mean 'park with recreation activities on the water' not a man made park with slides and rides. This was devastating news for our friend's young daughter! Enjoy fishing and especially water skiing with your own boat or a boat rented on site," clarifies Lynn G. about expectations at Turkey Creek Water Park.

Historical sites: Some parks near Enterprise feature historical structures worth visiting during non-riding time. "Nice historical building. I was the only camper there when I stayed. Very quiet," shares Christopher T. about his experience at Dunns Falls.

Accessibility considerations: Trail difficulty varies throughout the region. Most equestrian paths near Enterprise rate as easy to moderate, suitable for younger riders or those with limited experience.

Tips from RVers

Site dimensions: RV sites with horse accommodations require advance planning. Turkey Creek has recently improved site leveling, making setup easier. Sites typically measure 50-60 feet in length with 20-30 feet of width for larger horse trailers with living quarters.

Hookup availability: Full hookups (water, electric, sewer) are available at equestrian sites in select campgrounds. Verify in advance as some primitive horse camps have limited utilities. "We stayed here when the sites in the nearby National Forest were full and enjoyed it so much we added a day to our trip," mentions Lynn G., highlighting the difference between developed campgrounds and primitive options in the area.
