Best RV Parks & Resorts near Rochert, MN

Several RV parks surround Rochert, Minnesota, offering varied options for motorhome travelers. Long Lake Campsite-RV Resort in nearby Detroit Lakes provides full hookups with 30-amp service, operating from May 1 to September 23 with big-rig friendly sites. Just east in Park Rapids, Big Pines RV Park features both 30 and 50-amp electrical hookups along with water and sewer connections, open May through September. Shooting Star RV Park and Casino in Mahnomen accommodates larger rigs with full hookup sites including 50-amp service, operating mid-May through mid-October. Forest Hills Golf and RV Resort offers another Detroit Lakes option with 50-amp service and sewer hookups in a more spacious setting. "There are quite a few RV sites at Shooting Star Casino in Mahnomen and they offer full hookups," noted one visitor who found the sites adequately spaced despite their proximity to each other.

Seasonal availability is a key consideration for RV camping in this region, as most parks operate only from May through early October. Dump stations are available at Long Lake Campsite-RV Resort, Shooting Star RV Park, and Forest Hills Golf and RV Resort, though Crow Wing Inn Motel and RV Park lacks this amenity despite offering sewer hookups. Cell service varies throughout the area, with one reviewer reporting "AT&T had 2 bars of LTE and Verizon 4 bars of LTE service" at a nearby campground. Pet policies are generally accommodating, with most RV parks welcoming pets, though specific restrictions may apply. Advance reservations are recommended during peak summer months, particularly for weekend stays when parks fill quickly. Some parks like RV There Yet Campground maintain a smaller footprint with just 18 sites, making early booking essential for secure accommodations.

    Camp Itasca

    Nice park near Lake Itasca

Camp Itasca is a nice private park only a few minutes from the north entrance to Itasca State Park and the Mississippi River headwaters. We stayed two nights. Most of the sites are not shaded in the midday, but there are woods and shade nearby. The street is gravel and the sites are dirt. Despite that, I gave the park 4 stars because it is pleasant and the host is super friendly. The park was quiet. Has a lot of permanent/ long-term campers. Stayed in back-in campsite#23 which was not shady and a little unlevel side to side. It was a dirt site with some grass on either side. There was enough parking for my 34 TT and truck. The site included: picnic table on grass and fire ring. Electric, water and sewer were in the rear. 20A/30A/50A electric. Sewer was not threaded. Neighbors are close. AT&T had 2 bars of LTE and Verizon 4 bars of LTE service. AT&T Speedtest: 27.1 Mbps down, 0.64 Mbps up. Verizon Speedtest: 190 kbps down, 12 Mbps up. Free WiFi: 140 kbps down, 2.6 Mbps up. Would stay here again. We camped at Camp Itasca in a Travel Trailer.

    Bagley City Park

Nice campground inside the town of Bagley

The campground has either electric or water or just electric sites for RVs and there are also tent-only sites.  The tent sites are located across from and adjacent to the RV sites.  The RV sites are pretty close together but, we were there in the middle of the summer and there were a couple of open tent sites on one side of us.  The campground is pet friendly and the management is friendly.  The campground is close to Itasca State Park as well.  Others have mentioned that getting in to the campsites near the circle drive area (closest to the lake parking lot) are a little difficult to get into & this is very true.  We have an 8x17 Ice Castle/RV that we pull behind the truck and backing into our spot without disturbing other campers was not an easy task.  The circle drive is right where the last couple of RV sites are sitting and there is a tree at the point of the circle drive so you have to avoid the tree and maneuver around it when backing in.  The sites that are closer to the entrance & the playground that do not have a good view of the lake are easier to get in to.  We used the dump station which is nicely situated on a slope just outside the entrance so it's easy to completely pump out a tank that might sit lower on your unit.  There was a picnic table and campfire ring at each site.

Shooting Star RV Park and Casino

Nice way to stay for less when going to the casino

There are quite a few RV sites at Shooting Star Casino in Mahnomen and they offer full hookups!  We stayed at site 19, shown in the photo.  Although the sites are close together, there were quite a few empty sites so we felt like it was semi-private.  The cost was about $25 per night so definitely a great deal for full hookups.  There is a picnic table at each site and the RV park is pet friendly.  We spent a lot of our time in the casino while we were here so our time in the camper was limited but while we slept, we didn't here much noise.

    Maplewood State Park Campground

Loved our short time here in a camper cabin

We stayed at Maplewood State Park mid-July. We actually stayed in one of the 3 camper cabins and loved it! They have electricity, heat, ceiling fans and a private dock on Beers Lake. There is a vault toilet & water spicket nearby. Each cabin has its own fire pit and picnic table area. It felt very private although the cabins are rather near to each other. We checked out the campgrounds and they had spacious sites, some more private than others. It had a family friendly feel and was obviously a favorite spot for fisherman and water recreation enthusiasts. I wish we could have spent more time in the 9200 acre park. There is a swimming beach & picnic area that allows you to have campfires, as well as a nice shower house. The ranger was helpful regarding my questions about the lake and potentially renting a cabin for ice fishing this winter. At sunset, sitting by the lake, it was beautiful- nothing but songbirds and the call of loons to listen to.

    Golden Eagle Campground

    Great for families

On the Gunflint Trail  off the beaten path! Get away from it all...really. No cell to bother you here! On Flour Lake with great service from the staff. Sights are close and tight but have nice tree and foliage growth between sites. No full hook up...but dump station on site. Fishing dock and boat rental on site with reasonable prices. In the Superior National  Forest..lots of hiking trails. Lakes all around to explore and the Gunflint  historical society up the road. Drive trail to end for some great views and the north south continental divide.  We were here for 6 days and loved it. Bath house geta a just ok from me...not the best or worse I've seen. Friendly folks everywhere.

Pine Ridge Campground — Itasca State Park

    Nice Campground

For a State Park, this campground within Itasca State Park is nice and clean in the area that we were in. Farther to the back of this campground, it is heavily wooded with small lots and no electricity. Overall I would stay here again, but would remember that it is not really Big Rig friendly due to the tree branches hanging down and into the road. So it means slow travel and alot of dodging tree branches. This campground does not have a dump station which means that you have to go to the Bear Paw Campground to fill up and empty.

    Breeze Campgrounds

Great example of a northwoods camping resort!

I am a tent camper and usually prefer primitive wilderness camping, thus I dont usually consider staying at RV campgrounds or resort type campgrounds. This place would have to be an exception if you wanted a really comfortable camping opportunity on a really beautiful lake! Located not far outside the quaint town of Park Rapids, and great for a variety if day trips to state parks and in state bike and water trails, the campground and the lake it is on is a pleasant destination in and of itself. Most folks are here with RV’s, but there are also camper cabins for glamping, and several tent-only sites that are large and wooded and in great locations near the lake and other campground recreational facilities like the lodge, the beach, the pool, and the game barn. The grounds are heavily wooded and beautifully maintained, the atmosphere is very family friendly, and the lake is great for swimming, fishing and boating. Lots of “resort amenities” without the resort prices, and campers have free access to a fleet if canoes and kayaks. Weekly, monthly and seasonal rates, plus many perennials store their boats and RVs here over the winter. Highly recommended for a northwoods retreat for all kinds of campers!

    LaSalle Lake State Recreation Area

La Salle Lake state recreation area

La Salle Lake is the newest Minnesota state recreation ares, in the process of become a state park in its own right but currently administeted under the umbrella of nearby Itasca State Park.

If you are a tent camper, the main campground is rather open and more stark than you might like, but RV campers will like the full hookups and the exceptionally nice campground restrooms and shower facilities. What is special about camping here is not the campground itself, but the exceptional surroundings. Lake La Salle is a small but pristine lake, the second deepest in Minnesota and surrounded but mature forest in an ancient glacial moraine tunnel valley. The unique geology makes for terrific hiking through varied terrain all around the lake itself, and into the nearby state Scientific Natrual Area at the confluence if LaSalle Creek and the fledgling Mississippi River. While mostly wooded, there is also a natural prairie area with rare wildflowers. There is nice canoeing, kayaking anf fishing, a good boat launch and swimming beach, and a beautiful new accessible boardwalk and picnic area. There are also two very beautiful north woods style cabins for rent. There are a couple of paddle-in or hike-in dispersed campsites being developed on the more secluded side of the lake, and for folks who want a primitive camping experience close to Bemidji this would be it! The park is 15 miles from Itasca State Park and also 15 miles from Bemidji for day trips to either, and a family-friendly bar and grill is 5 minutes away at the Becida crossroads. Well recommended for an easy and quiet family getaway in northern Minnesota

    Buffalo River State Park Campground

    Nice Little State Park

This campground(CG) was easy to find. Because it was a Tuesday during the off-season, the check-in gate was not open, so we proceeded back to site 24, which was electric only(50/30/20 AMP) for our two-night stay. This small state park has many trees, but with the road being wide enough, the trees weren't in the way, and with no ditch this was an easy back-in. The sites here are also nicely spaced. A park ranger came by later and gave us our post and vehicle tags. There was highway and train noise. There are mature trees in the CG, but we were able to get enough north sky for Starlink. On Verizon, we got 3 bars. There is potable water at the dump station, which is at the park entrance. The shower/restroom facility was in good shape and clean. We enjoyed the trails, some interpretative, around this state park. As the nights were cooler, we opened our bedroom windows and noticed that trains ran almost continuously through the night. Overall, we had a good visit and would consider staying here again.
