Caribou Island Campground — Isle Royale National Park

Accessible only by boat or seaplane, Caribou Island Campground sits on a small island within Isle Royale National Park. The National Park Service maintains this backcountry site with a large lean-to shelter that accommodates multiple campers and a pit toilet. One reviewer notes this location as one of the few spots in the park where campfires are permitted. No pets are allowed at any Isle Royale camping areas. The island's compact size means campers share the communal shelter, making this spot better suited for those comfortable with group camping arrangements. Our first night on the Island

We stayed at Caribou the first night of our trip. This little island has a large leantou for everyone to hunker down in and a outhouse. It should be noted that this island is one of the only spots that you can build a fire.
