TravelerWe love coming to Duck Puddle in the shoulder season (spring and fall) when it’s quiet. The waterfront sites (61-66) offer direct access to the lake and have trees between the site for a more private feel. Some have a private dock for fishing or sitting, others have a small beach area. The lake is great for swimming and paddling.
The rest of the campground is more busy and has the sites closer together, which isn’t our scene. Lots of fun stuff for kids to do and evening activities if you like that sort of thing.
GuideWe stayed here one night in September in a Tuesday. Quiet, very few people. Had a non electric site without water and paid the same price as the state park in Camden. This place had much nicer showers and bathrooms. Would return!
ScoutCorporations are buying up the private campgrounds and charging ridiculous prices. The three around Campden, ME have 4 day minimums making the most basic RV site $ 225 to $260 per stay.
ScoutThey charged us almost $400 for two tent sites, for two nights. They are clearly resting on their laurels, need to hire more help for peak periods, be in the office when they need to be available and answer their phones and return phone calls, and also need to check for garbage left by previous campers and have their port-a-potties emptied way more often (gross!)
If you can get past the price gouging and lack of attention to detail, the place IS beautiful and enjoyable.

ScoutWe enjoyed our stay at Duck Puddle Campground. The staff were friendly and the place seemed well run. Bathrooms were dated but clean. The site we had was on the water and had great views. It was surrounded by trees and had decent spacing between neighbors. The weekend we stayed they happened to be celebrating "Christmas in July" and so a lot of the campers had put up lights and decorated. They had a band play on Sat night and large bonfire. Everyone was invited to attend if they wanted to. Nice family friendly campground. We are already planning out next visit.

GuideThis a beautiful spot, right on the Lake, listened to the loons, watched Canadian Geese with their goslings and saw a bald eagle swoop down and try to get something. There is a Really nice grocery store near by. We went to Maine Cabin Masters Store, which if you’re a fan was fun.
LegendThe sites here are nicely wooded and have a decent amount of separation between most of them BUT the campground is located too close to the road and, with the exception of sites 84-87 and cabins 8-10, you will hear road noise in your site. Options are 10 rustic cabins, tent sites, partial and FHU sites.
The bathhouse was very clean and there are both outdoor and indoor showers; both looked nice although we did not use them.
I thought $50 for a tent site was a little steep but it was all the potential extra fees that irked me:
*$30 site lock to ensure you get the site you want when you reserve. I took a chance and was able to get the site I reserved without paying this fee
*$4 weather guarantee (allows you to cancel due to inclement weather). I didn’t bother with this one
*7.95 if you need to hook up to WiFi. We were able to use our own portable WiFi
*$10 to use the dump station (we found another place that charged $5)
Aside from the fees and proximity to the road, this is a nice campground with a host of amenities: pool (which I was surprised was still open on October 1), horseshoes, laundry, dishwashing sink, a playground, and trash pick-up at your site. There is also a path to the shore with picnic tables, and chairs. Repairs to the sea wall are in progress so caution was recommended.
