Natalabany Creek Campground and RV Park

    RV'S AND CABINS ONLY

This campground is for RV's and Cabin rentals only. This park has lots of things to keep the kiddo's occupied. There is a HUGE pond for catch and release fish (no swimming or boating). There is an arcade room, swimming pool, putt putt golf, and a really great creek behind the cabins. This sites are spacious with water, electric, and sewer. This is the kind of place to stay at while exploring the local area(s). Very clean park, very nice staff. The cabins are so cute, comfy and sleep 8. Also a great place for bike riding (road, not mountain). The location is just off of the Interstate with easy access.

This is definitely a vacation type park. No roughing it here.

    Bogue Chitto State Park Campground

    Spot 124 is great!

We stayed at site 124 in “Bottomland” and we loved it. New “deck” with room for a rug, fire pit, and chairs. The deck also has a picnic table with a fire pit just off the edge. There’s a creek that ran behind the spot that kept my husband busy. The only downside is that the water and electricity plug are pretty far from your camper- you may need to pack your extender.

    Land-O-Pines Family Campground

    Pleasant campground

Land-O-Pines is a nice private RV park near Folsom and Covington. We stayed two nights because my daughter was in a horse competition at a nearby horse farm. The sites are mostly shady. The streets and sites are gravel and can get a little muddy in spots after a rain. The park was clean and quiet, and the staff was friendly. About half the sites are for permanent users.

Stayed in pull-through campsite C69 which was shady and level. It was a gravel site. There was enough parking for my 34 ft TT and truck. Neighbors are nearby by not on top of you. The site included: picnic table on gravel, no fire ring. Utilities: 20/50A electric near the middle. The 20A receptacle looked like it had some minor burn marks. Water next to power pole, good pressure. Sewer near power pole with 4 non screw-on fitting.

AT&T had 2 bars of LTE and Verizon full bars of LTE service. AT&T Speedtest: 30.8 Mbps down, 3.6 Mbps up. Verizon Speedtest: 4.5 Mbps down, 11.8 Mbps up. WiFi available, but did not use. Required a login.

Would stay here again. We camped at Land-O-Pines Family Campground in a Travel Trailer.

    Tickfaw State Park Campground

    Primitive trip

Have visited twice. First visit, my original campsite was flooded and was able to switch to another site. Last trip was good but site 35 is very close to 33. The fire rings are within 30 feet of each other and can hear other campers talk, however the primitive sites were nice. They have about 4-5 trails, a splashpad, nature center and you can rent a canoe. Had alot of fun and is pet friendly.

New Orleans RV Resort & Marina

Nice park, but a little overpriced

Pontchartrain Landing is nice RV park. We had a great weekday stay in late December and the weather was nice. Its not far from downtown New Orleans. When you first get off the Interstate, the area looks abandoned and a little sketchy, but it is ok. Apple Maps guided me right to the park. There is a restaurant and bar, but we didnt eat there. I enjoyed walking and sitting along the water in the mornings. The occasional noise from airplanes taking off from nearby Lakefront Airport was a small detraction. Playground was not much.   Place is fenced at gated for added security.

Stayed in waterfront campsite#21, but view was partially blocked by houseboats.  Pretty disappointed for $89/night.  Back-in site with gravel parking and a picnic table. No BBQ pit or fire ring. 15A/30A/50A, water, sewer, and cable TV hookups. Site was pretty level. Awning faced north so we had some shade from the sun. There was a flower bed with palm trees between the sites. Not much shade in the park. The site is located on the water. Neighbor was at least 20 ft. Away. Roads in the park were gravel creating some dust. Both AT&T and Verizon had good signal(3 bars each). AT&T Speedtest= 26.8 Mbps down, x 6.5 Mbps up. Free Wi-Fi is available at the office/restaurant and paid available it the sites. Did not use the Wi-Fi.

Overall, not impressed for the price, but would stay here again. We camped at New Orleans RV Resort& Marina in a Travel Trailer.

    Bogue Chitto State Park Campground

    ‘Bout That Bogue Chitto

We visited Bogue Chitto after torrential rains pummeled Louisiana and Mississippi causing the park to cancel our site we had reserved with a water view in the Bottomland Loop. This really ended up being a blessing in disguise. We were forced to just pick a site when we arrived at the park (not so great for this OCD-Teacher-Planner-Mom), but after only one drive around the Upland Loop, we decided on site 2 and were not disappointed! The site backed up to a trail, and the driver side of the trailer faced a wooded area (instead of a neighboring site) which afforded us much more privacy than any of the other sites would have. Sites 9, 14, and 46 also looked nice with their awnings facing trees instead of other campsites. All sites in this loop had sewer hook ups, so that was nice. There was a concrete pad underneath the fire ring with a lifting grill, a separate grill by the wooden picnic table, and a lantern post. There was a big tent pad close to the fire ring as well.

We thoroughly enjoyed all of the hiking and biking opportunities this campground afforded us. Although the Bottomland area was closed for camping, we still checked things out for future visits. Given the choice between the two loops in the future, I think I’d choose site 2 again. Camp hosts were visible and kept the campground very clean. During our visit, there was a Dutch Oven competition, so the campground was packed.

We only were able to stay here for two nights and left wishing we could have stayed much longer! We will definitely visit Bogue Chitto State Park again.

    New Orleans West KOA

    Tight spaces, good location

The spaces are a bit tight, only RV spots have a fire pit. Showers are well kept but the place smells musty. The location can’t be beat and the employees are great. Very safe area and convenient shopping places nearby. Short drive to downtown. Good Wi-Fi, good laundry and dish cleaning area. Would stay again but I wish the small camper area would be more spaced out and have fire pits or grills. Nice little playground and the pool looked good as well.

    Indian Creek Campground

    BEAUTIFUL, BUT CROWDED

We stayed here knowing that it would be full. Well, it was crowded and loud! Kids riding golf carts everywhere. Still we had a nice stay at 30 dollars a night! Ice machine, picnic table, playground, hiking trails, kayaking and fire pits. Our site # 57 needed 2 blocks to level.

Guide to Lacombe

Cabin rentals in Lacombe, Louisiana provide outdoor access to the Gulf Coast region's waterways and forests. The area sits at an elevation just a few feet above sea level near the north shore of Lake Pontchartrain. Most rental cabins remain accessible year-round, with summer highs averaging 90°F and winter lows rarely dropping below 40°F.

What to do

Kayak the waterways: Access boat launches at Fontainebleau State Park Campground, where visitors can explore Lake Pontchartrain and surrounding waterways. "We enjoyed riding our bikes around the campground and the trails in the park. We also, took the trace to town and rode along the lake. The beach is lovely and the water felt great," reports Gregg G.

Wildlife viewing: Many cabins offer direct wildlife viewing opportunities from their porches or nearby trails. "We love this campground cause has lots of wildlife," notes Danny at Fontainebleau State Park Campground, which features numerous bird species and occasional raccoon sightings.

Bike the paved trails: Cabin rentals near Bogue Chitto State Park Campground offer access to extensive cycling options. "Very clean, well kept state park. Hiking trails, equestrian trails, tubing, camping... they've got it all," states James L. Most trails are relatively flat, making them suitable for all skill levels.

What campers like

Spacious sites: Cabin rentals at Hidden Oaks Family Campground offer room to spread out. "The campground is split into 2 sides - primitive and RV. A general store sits in the middle for any necessities. We setup our tent area in the primitive area near the river/beach area," shares Shaun B.

Water recreation access: Many cabin properties near Lacombe provide water access. "There's a river that runs right through the campground. A small 'general store' is a real convience for those of us who forget the ketchup!" notes Cat R. at Hidden Oaks Family Campground.

Reliable utilities: Most cabin accommodations offer dependable utilities even during high-demand periods. "We had no issue with the utilities. There are a lot of large trees in this loop but we were able to get a clear north shot for Starlink. We had three bars on Verizon," reports MickandKarla W.

What you should know

Site conditions vary: Cabin rental experiences can differ significantly based on recent weather. "It had poured a few days before we went and had to switch sites three times before getting one that was even remotely dry," shares Taylor C. about their stay at Fontainebleau State Park.

Wildlife interactions: When staying in cabins near Lacombe, secure food items properly. "A family of raccoons must have been fed by someone, though, as they had NO fear nor qualms of coming right up to our table end one evening!" warns Michael B. Multiple reviews mention raccoons approaching campsites.

Access considerations: Roads to some cabin rental properties may present challenges. As noted at New Orleans RV Resort & Marina, "When you first get off the Interstate, the area looks abandoned and a little sketchy, but it is ok. Apple Maps guided me right to the park."

Tips for camping with families

Water play options: Families appreciate cabins near properties with water attractions. "The grandkids loved the splash pad/water slide and easy access to the river," mentions Therese A. at Bogue Chitto State Park Campground.

Safety awareness: When renting cabins with children, note wildlife warnings. "DON'T FEED THE GATORS. Literally, don't feed the gators. There were signs everywhere. Apparently many people don't heed the signs. When my hubby rustled a bag, several alligators swam right up to our site!" cautions Cat R.

Holiday programming: Several cabin rental facilities near Buccaneer State Park Campground offer seasonal activities. "Beautiful park in a nice area. Lots of activities for the kids (in season) and plenty to do and see nearby," shares David J. Halloween events are particularly well-reviewed across multiple properties.

Tips from RVers

Site selection matters: When bringing both an RV and using cabin facilities, research site layouts. "We could not fit on a pull thru site, and Betty at the entrance was awesome and found us the perfect back-in site that made our stay amazing!" reports Martha S. at Fontainebleau State Park.

Transport options: Many cabin properties offer convenient access to New Orleans. At New Orleans West KOA, "The KOA offers transportation to the French Quarter for free! It was such a nice perk!" according to Jen H. This allows RV owners to keep their vehicles parked at the cabin site while exploring.

Check amenities: Not all cabins provide the same amenities. "Stayed in pull-through campsite C69 which was shady and level. It was a gravel site. The site included: picnic table on gravel, no fire ring," notes David B. at Land-O-Pines Family Campground.
