Best RV Parks & Resorts near Blanchard, LA

Several RV parks near Blanchard, Louisiana provide full hookup options for travelers. Southern Living RV Park in Greenwood features water, electric, and sewer hookups with 30/50-amp service on level gravel sites that accommodate big rigs. "Stayed here a couple of nights while visiting family in the area. Easy access from I-10. It's on the south side of the interstate not the north as shown on the map," noted one visitor. Gavel Falls RV Campground offers concrete pads with water and electric hookups, though the park has narrow roads requiring careful navigation. Miss Ellie's RV Park in nearby Waskom, Texas provides year-round availability with full hookup sites designed for larger RVs, while Laguna Vista RV Park in Marshall features pull-through sites with full hookups that can accommodate larger rigs.

Most RV parks in the region require reservations, particularly during weekends when occupancy rates increase. Cell service varies significantly between locations, with Buffalo Bayou RV Park reporting decent Verizon coverage but spotty service during storms. Dump stations are available at most parks, though not all sites offer sewer connections at individual pads. According to one camper, "The park streets and sites are asphalt. Some roads need repaving." Pet policies generally allow dogs with standard leash requirements, though dedicated pet areas are limited at smaller facilities. Propane service is available near major highways, particularly along I-20 and I-49 corridors. Seasonal considerations include higher humidity during summer months and occasional winter freezes that may affect water hookups.

    Shreveport Bossier City KOA

    Not to sure

Did an extended stay here, 3 months while working in the area. The staff is great and very helpful and friendly. The dog park is nice if you have them. Park is well maintained. There are only 2 reasons I couldn’t give them more than 3 stars, 1) on monthly rate they charge for electric which I get but it continued to go up even though outside temps continued to drop so no need for my A/C units. 2) During the last 4 nights of my stay there were multiple times I heard multiple gun fire in the area.

Lots of in and out traffic. I would recommend if your passing through the area and need to stop for a night or two but not long term.

    Johnson Creek Camp

Beautiful place on Lake 'O the Pines, but crowded campsites

I stayed here for five nights in mid-March. The campground is a mix of tent/RV loops and has multiple boat ramps into Johnson Creek which feeds into Lake 'O the Pines. I was in site E210 (RV area 2). Place was packed over the weekend, cleared out quite a bit during the week. I check out all four RV loops, and it's one of the most crowded COE campgrounds I've seen (and I've seen a lot). Site spacing in pretty close, but slightly better than commercial parks. I lucked out on E210, it was a pull-through that perched overlooking the lake. It was among the more private sites. Fairly level sites in loops, some asphalt, some concrete. Water/Elec, picnic pad and table and fire rings at all sites. I would definitely recommend and go back but pick your sites carefully if you want privacy - think Google satellite view or Google Earth. Pretty decent cell signal for Verizon, so-so for ATT.

    Lake Bistineau State Park Campground

    Beautiful state park

Lake Bistineau is a great state park park near Shreveport, LA. We stayed 2 nights. The sites are very shady. The park streets and sites are asphalt. Some roads need repaving. The park was clean and quiet, and the staff was friendly. Unfortunately, the lake was drawn down to eradicate an invasive water plant. But, this presented a unique opportunity. We could walk on the dry lake bottom and see the parts of cypress trees that are normally under water.

Stayed in back-in campsite#14 which was level side to side, but the front was higher. The site has a nice view of the lake and a large wooden deck. There was just enough parking for my 34 ft TT and truck. Neighbors are nearby, but not too close. The site included: picnic table on concrete, BBQ pit, trash pole, and fire ring. Utilities: 20/30/50A electric in back. Water in back, good pressure. No sewer, but a dump station is available.

AT&T had 2 bars of LTE and Verizon 2 bars of LTE service. AT&T Speedtest: 5.1 Mbps down, 0.7 Mbps up. Verizon Speedtest: 7.4 Mbps down, 0.1 Mbps up. No WiFi.

Would stay here again. We camped at Lake Bistineau State Park in a Travel Trailer.

    Buffalo Bayou RV Park

    Not what we expected

Made a reservation via telephone for two days a month in advance, but was not given a site number. When we pulled up to the office there was a note with a telephone number to call, but no answer. I saw a gentleman walking around and it appeared he saw us. After waiting about 10 minutes, I decide to driver further into the park. The gentleman I saw earlier was one of the owners/ managers, I would would have expected him to go to the office to meet the newly arriving guests. I will say that he was friendly enough and later, his wife stopped by to collect the fee and she too was friendly. The park itself has full hook ups and is on the banks of the bayou. The campground require you to sign a waiver because of the water moccasins from the bayou and because of the potential of falling tree limbs. The. Campground is pretty sandy so leveling may be problematic for big rigs. The do allow long term guests to store all kinds of equipment and gear, the site next to us look like a junk yard. Our fellow campers seemed friendly enough with the gentleman on the other side from the junk yard introducing himself.

    TravelCenters of America RV Park

    EASY OFF INTERSTATE ACCESS

We came here for a quick over night stay. Right off interstate by gas stations and food. We were in a pull through spot, which was level, but barely long enough for our truck and 30 ft camper. Full hookups (bring extra long electric cord!), picnic table, showers, cable, dog park, and extra parking area noted. No fires allowed. With Good Sam our spot was 34.00 which was quite reasonable.

    Buckhorn Creek

    Popular Campground

We arrived about 3:30 PM and check in was quick and easy. We proceeded to back-in site E139 with water& 50/30 AMP. The signage to our area had a R in front of the site numbers but all the site numbers on the posts have an E in front of them, so be aware of this discrepancy if coming in late. Back-in was easy on to the narrow pad that was long enough for our 39’ 5th wheel and F-450 truck parked in front, but not by much. There was a very nice deck with the fire pit/bbq nicely placed right off the deck. Site 140 next to us with the other deck is actually a pull through double site. Longest sites in this area of the CG are 109- 113. Other sites had short pads so be sure to check the length when you reserve. All of the pads in the CG looked fairly level. We got 2 bars on Verizon and a handful of OTA channels. With the amount of trees in the CG satellite could be iffy. Water pressure was okay at around 35 psi. The CG also had a separate and very nice tent area near the playground. They were remodeling the main restroom/shower so it was closed during our stay, but there was another facility in each RV area(100 and 200) that had toilets and a shower but were older and in need of updating. We stayed over the weekend and the CG was very busy. We enjoyed the great water view from the deck on our site during our 4 night’s stay.

    Beaver Dam Campground

Home of the Sugsr Cane National Recreation Trail

Great US Forest Service campground especially if you enjoy hiking, biking or fishing. The Sugar Cane National Recreation Trail loops around the lake. The campground is a loop with approximately 30 large and level sites with electric and water hookups. Some are on the lake and some more wooded. All feel very private and spacious. There’s a dump station nearby. The sites are $25/night.

    Buckhorn Creek

    Love this place

Spur of moment trip to just get away. Fwel lucky to find. Nice, clean, friendly, concrete backin spaces, big, shady, quite, wildlife roaming, friendly staff, no sewage but dump station, showers dated but hot water and clean. Swimming, gated, need pass, boating, playground. Close to historic , I'm in love with that part of the town , Jefferson Texas. Gonna make a post regarding a Jefferson 5x boondocking parking lot with or without hookups, free over night, or $12 hookup to electric. Don't know why everyone complains so much. Yes its a parking lot across street from police station. Laid back town, step back in time. Obviously they only see parking lot but this area is awesome. Just spent whole day hunting bigfoot, eating ice cream from old timey parlor, many, things to do and see in walking distance.
Back to this camp ground. It's surounded by beautiful Lake of the pines. Would and will definately be baci real soon.

    Tom Merrill Recreation Area

    Outstanding

Beautiful and well kept. Bathrooms smelled great and clean. Shower hot and clean but needed a shower head and a touch up of paint. Bank fishing is good. Trails, a few exercise equipment, playground, and friendly hosts makes for a wonderful experience. Concrete pads, electric, water, grills, and fire pits all well maintained. Cell service operational but not top notch. Site 8 and 17 best for tents. Definitely would stay again.

Guide to Blanchard

Blanchard, Louisiana and surrounding areas offer a range of RV accommodations between Shreveport and Marshall. The region features pine forests with sandy soil and experiences humid subtropical climate with hot summers where temperatures regularly exceed 90°F. Cell service varies significantly throughout the area, with stronger signals near major highways but potential gaps in more remote locations.

What to do

Pond fishing: Gavel Falls Cabin Rentals and RV Campground maintains a private pond for guests. "Kind of an odd location— behind an auction yard. Nice concrete slabs for RVs. Fair gravel roads, 3 very nice log cabins, at least 2 covered RV spaces. BBQ grills and fire pits are brand new. Private pond on site," notes camper Den O.

Kayak trails: Explore multiple paddling routes directly from Buffalo Bayou RV Park. "There's 3 trails close to the park. Trails took 1-2 hours depending on which one you take and how fast you paddle," writes Malae H. The park features a small boat ramp for easy launching.

Cypress scenery: Visit nearby Caddo Lake State Park to experience the iconic moss-draped cypress trees. "An absolutely beautiful setting. This is a quiet, quaint park with the most beautiful views. I hosted a kayak camp out with 23 ladies to go kayaking. There is a kayak rental right next door which is a very short paddle to the camp," shares a Buffalo Bayou visitor.

What campers like

Spacious sites: Laguna Vista RV Park provides large pull-through sites. "Pull through accommodated my 44 ft. MH, Jeep with mini golf cart carrier easily. Quiet and nice," reports James R. The park features full hookups with level gravel lots.

Easy interstate access: Southern Living RV Park offers convenient highway access. "Friendly staff. Pull through slots. It took a little work to get level," notes Charley K. Another camper mentions, "Had a nice pool and big restrooms with showers."

Natural shade: Many parks feature mature trees that provide cooling effects during hot months. "Tall tree limb canopy helps with a nice breeze and fewer bugs. This is on a bayou so be prepared for mosquitoes," explains Jason W. about Buffalo Bayou RV Park. The tree coverage helps mitigate summer temperatures that regularly reach into the high 90s.

What you should know

Extended stay accommodations: Several parks cater primarily to long-term residents. "The campground is pretty sandy so leveling may be problematic for big rigs. They do allow long term guests to store all kinds of equipment and gear, the site next to us look like a junk yard," reports Steven B.

Weather considerations: Summer brings high humidity and occasional severe storms. "Cancelled the next day due to the National Weather Service forecast for the risk of severe weather for the area," notes Margaret L. about her experience with Sunshine Oaks RV Park.

Wildlife awareness: Local bayous have native wildlife that requires caution. "The campground requires you to sign a waiver because of the water moccasins from the bayou and because of the potential of falling tree limbs," warns a Buffalo Bayou visitor. Mosquito repellent is essential during warmer months.

Tips for camping with families

Outdoor gathering spaces: Marshall Meadows RV & Tiny Home Village provides communal areas. "Come see the beautiful outdoors with a nice pond. We're it feels like your home away from home in the Piney woods of East Texas. Marshall Meadows has the perfect spot and plenty of space for you and your family," according to Gricelda H.

Campfire regulations: Fire restrictions vary between parks. Gavel Falls provides dedicated fire pits, with a camper noting, "BBQ grills and fire pits are brand new." Buffalo Bayou features a "HUGE public fire pit that is wonderful to gather with larger groups."

Laundry facilities: Limited laundry options exist at most RV campgrounds near Blanchard. Consider bringing additional clothing for extended stays or locate laundromats in Shreveport or Marshall for longer trips.

Tips from RVers

Seasonal pool access: Some campgrounds have pools with specific requirements. At Gavel Falls, "If you want to use the hot tub you must contact the office and pay for the propane. The park does have nice paved parking pads and a newly paved road," explains Kimberly N.

Navigation challenges: Several parks have narrow internal roads. "The campsite has a bizarre single track road in and out that requires one party to pull off into grass to allow another to pass," warns John L. about Gavel Falls. Plan arrivals during daylight hours for easier maneuvering.

Water pressure variations: Water systems at rv campgrounds near Blanchard, Louisiana sometimes experience pressure fluctuations. Bring a pressure regulator to protect your RV's plumbing system, particularly during peak usage times when multiple campers are connected to the same water lines.
