Several RV parks surround McPherson, Kansas, offering year-round accommodation for motorhomes and travel trailers. McPherson RV Ranch provides 40 sites with full hookups including 50/30-amp electric service, water, and sewer connections on gravel pads that accommodate big rigs. Sunflower RV Patch, located at 1050 West Kansas Avenue, operates throughout all seasons with additional sites. "The sites had gravel and were level. We had a pull through site with 50 amp service, water and sewer that fit our 40 ft Motorhome towing a Jeep," noted one camper about a nearby park. Love's RV Stop features 42 designated motorhome spots with electric hookups, sewer connections, and drinking water, while also providing shower facilities and a sanitary dump station.

Cell service is generally strong throughout the region, with most parks reporting good coverage for both Verizon and AT&T networks. Most facilities welcome pets, though specific pet areas vary by location. Propane is available at select locations, particularly at Love's and other travel centers along major highways. Summer weekends tend to fill quickly, especially at parks offering lake access, while weekday availability remains more open year-round. Travelers with large motorhomes should confirm site dimensions before arrival, as some of the older parks have narrower access roads and tighter turning radiuses.

East Shore Camping Area — Cheney State Park

      Year round camping available

We stayed overnight with our trailer en route. There are specific sites available year round that have water and electric available. These are located in the Marina and Lakeside campgrounds on the East side. The water spigots are insulated. 50 amp available at Marina campground only. 30 amp at both. Being winter, it’s pretty sparse, dry, and windy. For an overnight, it was an affordable stay.

My only complaint is that the available sites aren’t clearly communicated. We drive to every site until we found the right one. Wish they would update that info for winter camping.

Dump stations available! Unfortunately not for human consumption (see pic) :D

      All Seasons RV Park

      Clean RV Park

We stopped here on our way to NW Arkansas from western Colorado. The sites had gravel and were level. We had a pull through site with 50 amp service, water and sewer that fit our 40 ft Motorhome towing a Jeep. There was a bathhouse/shower with code entry which was nice. The sites had a picnic table. The office was clean and everyone was friendly. Rates were fair. I believe around $50.

      Love's RV Stop-McPherson KS 608

      Perfect overnight stop

Super clean with lots of amenities; dog park, basketball, pickleball, frisbee, grills, covered picnic tables, large and very sturdy concrete tornado shelter (had to use it through a storm with 100mph gusts because…well…. when in Kansas!), showers and bathrooms on site also. All sites are ENORMOUS, level, well lit, and full hookup. Definitely stay here while passing through. Only drawback is no shade and it took HOURS to cool travel trailer down.

      Summer fun

The campsite has friendly staff, the facilities and campsites are clean, great swimming area. They are pet friendly and have a leash law. The boat ramp and dock are good sized and kept maintained. I have a great time everytime I go. I recommend it as a stop while you are in Kansas.

      McPherson State Fishing Lake

      Primitive camping

It's very scenic with plenty of shade. The sites are on the west side of the lake. Sites are pull through. Pit toilets but not close to campsites. Serene and peaceful. FREE. I have 4 bars T-Mobile but no OTA tv reception.

      BALD EAGLES!!!

Yep, we saw bald eagles every day of our stay. Majestic!

This campground is large and spread out. We road our bikes over every inch and clocked 12 miles. If you do mountain bike, you would enjoy the 9 + mile trail ( we walked it). It's flat and not challenging, but really nice, secluded and if you bring a lunch, there are 3 picnic tables on the lake that can only be reached by boat or the trail. Boating, fishing, birding, 18 hole disc golf course, swimming, biking or just relaxing, this place is great.

There are several loops within this State Park. The Gapher loop is for tents. If you are a tenter, you are in for a treat. Sites right are right on the water. The restroom water was on in this loop only.

Smarsh is a loop that is not on the lake side, but the only w/e loop that had water turned on during off season. It looks older and is low land. A large area of standing water was by the road. Even though it is older, has giant Cottonwood trees shading the sites.. one of the 10 modern bathhouse was conveniently located at the entrance to the loop. A playground and walking trails are across the main road. The longest trail runs through this loop.

The Hobie Loop has no services, but the amazing views make up for it. Half the sites are right on the water. Kayaks, Canoes, SUP can be launched right from the sites or just across the road. You pass a HUGE boat launch area before you get to this loop.

The last 2 loops ( North and South) are w/e loops, but water was off for the season. You could fill tanks at the vacant host site or the dump station.

The sites are all gravel or grass with the exception of handicap sites. I wouldn't they were level, but all doable.

It was WINDY every day so I couldn't kayak or SUP. I think it is just Kansas, though. I was sad to see so much trash on the road and the most remote part of the long hiking trail. Some could be from windy blowing stuff around, but the bad of empty beer bottles discarded on th me trail was not. We reported it.

A small store is just outside the entrance and Witchita is only 30 minutes away. Hutchinson is maybe 15 mi.

      Salina Campground

      Very Nice But Noisy

This is a nice campground with pull-through spots, playground, nice washroom/showers. Some spots even have concrete patios with fire pits and grills. A few tiny cabins and a “glamping” tent. The only negative is that the sites are very close together and it is right off I-70 which is very noisy all night long.

"Quaint little town very convenient RV park with full hook ups sewer, water, and electricity. And lots of shade trees. You must visit the blacksmith coffee shop when you're in town!" notes Lee D.

Fishing opportunities: Lakeside RV Park in Assaria provides fishing access about 28 miles from McPherson. "Stayed here for a few weeks for work, great place, nice spots, had some full hookups and some not, fishing pond, very nice people, not to for from Salina," reports Matt B.

Clean facilities: Wichita's Spring Lake RV Resort maintains well-kept amenities. "Well kept property. Clean bathrooms. Only communal fire rings and picnic tables. Country Highway sounds. Safe area and friendly patrons," states Mark in his review.

Affordable rates: Many campgrounds offer competitive pricing for overnight stays. "Gravel sites. Great, robust WIFI. Clean, modern bathrooms and showers," writes Dave D. about Spring Lake RV Resort, adding it was a "Bargain at $33."

After-hours service: All Seasons RV Park in Goddard accommodates late arrivals. "We arrived around 9pm and left at 9am. I had booked at 4pm but they never emailed me a spot number nor left me a paper registration. I called them at 9pm and they answered. Very impressed," shares Travis H.

    What you should know

Site conditions: Most RV parks feature gravel sites with varying levels of levelness. "The sites had gravel and were level. We had a pull through site with 50 amp service, water and sewer that fit our 40 ft Motorhome towing a Jeep," notes John F. about All Seasons RV Park.

Spacing considerations: Site dimensions vary between parks, with some offering more room than others. "Not impressed with lot size. I have never seen a lot where both campers didnt have room to put out their awnings. Very tight," cautions Travis H.

Self-service options: Payne Oil RV Park near Newton operates with minimal staffing. "Payne Rv park has 18 full hook up sites and is located outside of Newton. It is perfect for a night but not a lot to see otherwise. The fee is $20 per night and you pay across the road," explains Shannon G.

    Tips from RVers

Self-pay systems: Inman RV Park operates with minimal formalities. "Larry was easy to communicate with by phone and text. We weren't given an arrival deadline, no forms or markers - had our choice of the available spots - Paid by check with a note in the drop box," explains James H.

Overnight convenience: Several parks cater specifically to travelers passing through. "Basically an average park all the amenities full hookups. Nice staff dog park. Campers close together. A nice rest stop for traveling through," states Chip K. about All Seasons RV Park.

Development status: Some RV campgrounds near McPherson continue to add amenities. "Sites are still being made, not all sites have picnic tables or fire pits. NO SHADE! For a one night stop between destinations it's okay," advises Lisa P. regarding Lighthouse Landing.
