Cozy cabin cured my camping craving!

The adorable cabin fulfilled my tiny home dreams and camping craving! The cozy cabin had a queen bed, twin bunks and a sofa that made out to a full size sleeper. Kitchen included a fridge, sink and single cup coffee maker. Coffee k cups were provided in a few different varieties as well as sugar and creamer packs. Bathroom had tub/shower, clothesline to dry swim suits or hand-washed clothes, toilet, sand sink vanity. Bedding and towels were provided and were crisp, clean white. WiFi was a bonus and although it wasn’t the fastest it was very useful when looking up nearby activities. Our cabin had a grill, an outdoor table with four chairs, a swing and a fire pit which we enjoyed our last night there. Staff was friendly and helpful. There were laundry facilities within the park and lots of activities but we didn’t take advantage of any of that during our brief stay. Overall, we were very pleased and would gladly stay again!

Roughing it by a creek and a pioneer village

Basic car tent camping at several spots along a creek wIth picnic tables and fire rings (no hookups, portolet toilets, no showers.) There is a rustic scout cabin/group lodge reservable for scout, etc. groups. The park features a pioneer village with log cabins, including a blacksmith forge, etc. that have been moved to the site.

    Winton Woods Campground

Love this campground for a weekend rendezvous!

Winton Woods campground has spacious paved RV spaces with full hook-ups, fire ring, and picnic table. They also have cabin and tent camping. The location is located on the lake with access to put in a kayak or canoe. The bathrooms are clean, with private combined shower/dressing stalls. There is a playground for children, and a camp store that sells firewood and supplies. I love the tall pines on the property. They made me feel like I was out west. The campground is also near paved and unpaved trails in the park that surround more of the lake which allows for walking/running/hiking and bicycling, fishing, small craft boating, with small craft boat rentals available at the marina. The park also allows for horseback riding, and a small water park for children in the summer.

    Winton Woods Campground

Great county park in a beautiful setting!

This is a great county park! It has a nice “campground” feel set in a large pine trees and wide sites but has 50-amp full hook-up sites. The campground is set in Winton Woods County Park which is about 20 minutes from downtown Cincinnati.

There are 123 campsites including RV sites, tent pads, and camping cabins. Most RV sites are back-in but there are 12 pull-thru sites. There is a myriad of sites here from 50-amp full hook-up with paved pads and patios to 30-amp gravel sites. Sites have fire pits, picnic tables. Campsites in the front section (1F – 25F and 1R – 12R) are big rig-friendly with paved roads wide enough to easily maneuver. All utilities worked accordingly and were well-placed in the site. Our 4G Verizon phone got good reception and we were able to get plenty of antenna television channels. The online reservation system is easy to use and gives you an array of sites/cabins to choose from. Be aware that lots of people use this park on the weekends so it can get quiet busy.

There are lots of amenities at this park. Within walking distance of the campground is Winton Woods Lake which has a harbor with boathouse, snack bar, boat rentals and playgrounds. There are miles of paved and rustic hiking trails. There is a camp store, dump station, laundry, restrooms/shower house, boat/kayak launch, and fishing access. Located in the park is a golf course and horseback riding center.

You are within a few miles of everything … grocery, gas/diesel, restaurants, and plenty of shopping. The park is close to I-275 and I-75 making for easy access to major interstates. One place you should not miss is Jungle Jims international grocery and market. This totally eclectic, sprawling "grocery store" has so much to offer. They pride themselves on providing unique foods from all over the world. I could spend hours in this store perusing the isles of which are sectioned off into country and region. There are entire sections on Indian foods, wines, cheeses that you have never heard of, and tanks with live fish ready for the filleting. Also within close proximity is Greaters -one of the country's best ice cream shops (according to Food and Wine). Just down the street is a new person favorite sandwich shop called Izzy's which is famous for their corned beef and delicious potato pancakes.

Loved this park because you have a very nice campsite with 50-amp full hook-up site with lots to do in the area. Our site was level and the roads were easy to navigate in our motorhome. The paved trail around the lake was great for walking/jogging and perfect for launching our kayaks.

We would definitely stay here again.

    Florence, IN…Nice campground

Park is well maintained. Nice sized pool and very clean pool area. Park has a playground and dog park. Lots of space between campers with cement patio, fire pit and picnic table and lots of trees. We had no issue pulling in our 42’ 5th wheel. We came in after hours and our name with sits number was posted on the door and plenty of maps for the park. Nice layout! You could barely hear a train off in the distance which sounded cozy. Campground is about 30 min from Madison and Ohio River is across the street. Only con- trash cans are like in a whole different country and hard to get too. Would stay again!!!!!

    Versailles State Park Campground

    “One of Indiana's Finest”

    General Butler State Resort Park

    Great Park to relax

Great little park located just far enough away to get away but close enough to town to run and get something if you forgot it.

Campground is pretty compact but stays pretty quiet. Two well maintained restrooms and shower facilities. Property has a lodge, cabins, pull through, full hook up, and water/power hook up, primitive spots, and day use shelters.

There is a pool and a restaurant are located at the lodge. There are a few hiking trails and a playground for the little ones. There is mini golf canoe and paddle boat rentals available as well.

Free wifi (speed is questionable) but we found 2-3 bars on T-mobile and AT&T.

We frequent this park since it is close to home and the smaller size makes it easier to turn the kids loose. They have enough to enjoy but not so much where we have to be active every second.

Nice quiet spot for a few nights out.

This is a nice county park that is being upgraded.  There is a fairly new playground near the camping areas, a new pit toilet building, and a bridge leading to where a new trail system is being created.  There are a mix of Electric and non electric sites.  I think 9 non-electric and 7 electric sites.

Fire rings and picnic tables at every site.  We were able to fit our Escapod (tear drop) camper in a non-electric site.

I think there is more coming in redevelopment of this county park, so it shoudl keep getting better!

Guide to Lawrenceburg

Cabins near Lawrenceburg, Indiana are situated in the Ohio River Valley region where the terrain features rolling hills and valleys formed by glacial activity thousands of years ago. The area experiences four distinct seasons with summer temperatures averaging 85°F and winters dropping to the low 20s. Rental accommodations in this region typically operate year-round but seasonal amenities like pools and water features close from October through April.

What to do

Hiking trails near cabins: At Versailles State Park Campground, visitors can access numerous hiking paths that wind through wooded areas. "We went on one of the easy trails. Be aware this area is very rocky so easy is relate to the surroundings," notes Kristene B. The park maintains several difficulty levels of trails for different hiking abilities.

Kayaking opportunities: Cabin accommodations at Whitewater Memorial State Park Campground provide access to both Brookville and Whitewater lakes. According to one reviewer, "Many fishermen and kayakers frequent the lake trails." The park offers water access points specifically designed for small watercraft launching.

Mountain biking terrain: Seasonal bikers should check event calendars before booking cabin stays. Dan N. advises, "We happened to go during a big mountain bike event in July. So if you're planning to camp (or even hike) here I'd check the calendar first." Mountain bike trails range from beginner to advanced routes with varying technical features.

What campers like

Spacious cabin layouts: Follow The River RV Resort receives high marks for their cabin accommodations. One visitor explained, "The campground is easy to access and super well taken care of! There is a tree for shade at every lot, a picnic table at every lot and water access as well." Their rental cabins offer more separation between units than typical campgrounds.

Clean facilities: Cabin guests consistently mention facility cleanliness as important. At Whitewater Memorial State Park Campground, reviewers note "newly updated facilities with two large shower/bath houses." Maintenance standards remain high even during peak season with regular bathroom cleanings.

Water access from lodging: Proximity to water features heavily in positive reviews. Lerin P. reports about Morgan's Outdoor Adventures, "We loved the views of Morgan's. Steps away from gorgeous river views. There is nothing like waking up and making breakfast while watching the river roll by!" Water-adjacent cabins typically cost 10-15% more than standard options.

What you should know

Booking process concerns: Several campgrounds have frustrating reservation systems. One visitor to Indian Lakes noted difficulty with online booking: "The online reservation can't choose the sites or areas so I called the number that was listed for campground and was on hold at a call center somewhere." Call directly when possible rather than using third-party booking sites.

Seasonal operation: Many cabin rentals in the region operate seasonally. Stonelick State Park Campground runs from April 1 to October 31, with one reviewer mentioning, "The staff and the host are very pleasant and helpful. It's a park I will definitely return." Always check operating dates before planning trips outside summer months.

Linen requirements: Pack your own bedding and towels for most cabin stays. Unlike hotel accommodations, campground cabins typically provide beds but expect guests to bring linens. Kitchen supplies vary widely between properties with some providing basic utensils while others offer nothing beyond the shelter itself.

Tips for camping with families

Playground access: Governor Bebb MetroPark Campground has recently upgraded their family facilities. One visitor reported, "This is a nice county park that is being upgraded. There is a fairly new playground near the camping areas, a new pit toilet building, and a bridge leading to where a new trail system is being created." Most playground equipment suits children ages 5-12.

Swimming opportunities: Families should consider cabin locations with swimming access during summer months. At Versailles State Park, Jessie W. shares, "The pool is nice, and the kids love the slides and diving board. They also have a fenced in area for small children with a baby pool and sprinkler." Pool hours typically run 11am-7pm during peak season.

Halloween festivities: Several campgrounds offer special seasonal events for families with children. "We love the Halloween festivities! It is so fun to see all the costumes and the decorations all over the campground. We plan to make it an annual tradition!" writes one Versailles State Park visitor. These events typically occur weekends in October and require advance reservations.

Tips from RVers

Site selection advice: When booking cabin or RV accommodations near Lawrenceburg, review site details carefully. Burns G. from Versailles State Park warns, "Some sites are not level at all. So be sure to read up on the site you want before you book it." Most online reservation systems provide details about site grade and length restrictions.

Road conditions: Access roads to cabins vary significantly across properties. A reviewer at Indian Lakes noted, "It was hard navigating through the potholes and mud holes with being 62' long." Consider calling ahead during wet weather to check current road conditions before arrival, especially for larger vehicles.
