    Country Bend Campground

    Great family friendly campground

Great place to stay and feel part of the community.  Pretty scenery to walk around.  Plenty of lakes/ponds to fish.  We couldn't boat while there due to COVID but look forward to going back and taking our kayaks.  Attentive and Friendly camp hosts. Pet friendly. Close to town if you've forgotten anything or want to have a restaurant dinner. Close to the highway for easy access.  Full hookup available. Monthly or Season also available.

Draft Kings at Casino Queen RV Park

    Clean, Secure Overnight Park

Very clean and secure overnight park just outside of STL. Phenomenal views of downtown and the arch, and fairly easy access to I-55/64/70. Facilities lacked some amenities (only vending machines, convenience store has shut down), but clean, paved, level sites with full hookups throughout.

    Cahokia RV Parque

    Great Campground!

We had a great experience in the 4 nights we spent here. The grounds, pool, laundry, and bathrooms were all in excellent repair and clean. The park was quiet, but very family friendly. The spots are roomy enough, given that you’re situated less than 15 miles from downtown St. Louis. The picnic tables and fire rings are nice additions and the lots appear to be level (ours was.) We didn’t have any trouble backing our 38 ft travel trailer in either. Do NOT miss the BBQ place in the parking lot... fantastic food and a 10% discount for park customers.

    Country Bend Campground

    Great experience!

Big things happening at Country Bend Campgrounds in Montrgromy Co, IL. This beautiful campground has many things to offer and is only a few minutes from the local drive in movie theater in Litchfield Illinois. It has a pool, swing sets, playground, cabins, ponds with stocked fish, beautiful walking trails, camping, welcome center, baseball field, volleyball, games, horseshoes, paddle boats, miniature golf, and so much more. This family run business is under new management and is welcoming new seasonal campers and day campers with competitive pricing. This beautiful campground is nestled in a scenic area in the country and is pet friendly. It has clean shower houses with warm water. We just purchased our seasonal campsite earlier in the season. Come check out this amazing campground and all it has to offer! Our rough collies will be joining us at this dog friendly campground! There is always something to do here and the owners strive to make it a family place by providing many activities on the weekends. The owners have done an amazing job on this campground and have made it one of the best campgrounds around to create that lasting experience with our children before they grow up!!!

    Cahokia RV Parque

Nice close park to St. Louis

Pet-friendly, full hookups, space for our larger rig and parking around for extra vehicle. Laundry and propane on site. Spaces were a little close together, but minutes from downtown St. Louis, and staff was friendly and accommodating. Also, fantastic restaurant right on site -- Sawmill BBQ!

    Country Bend Campground

    GO ELSEWHERE

Our motorhome is a big rig a 42 foot diesel pusher.. They squeezed site was 7 ft wide with little gravel mostly wet grass and mud.Our 40000 lb RV was 8 1/2"ft wide. We were put in a spot by Country Bend Campground not large enough for our vehicle. Not much gravel all mud. Due to a huge tree no satellite service yet the owners stated was good for our 42 ft diesel pusher motorhome and no obstacles. We were sandwiched between two living full time people right next to us. We waited 3 hours to come in since they charge$5 an hour extra for early arrival. GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE!!$$$$ is their goal. They want you to rent their golf carts because everything is so spread out. We have been full timing for two years. This is the worst experience we ever had. No water hookup. We called Kate Tuxhorn the owner and she said sorry i forgot to tell you that you have to tap in your neighbors water. Her husband Jeff Tuxhorn has many bad reviews too.Leaving we hit that huge tree that we had no way to turn. Thousands of$ damage.

    Cahokia RV Parque

Very nice park near downtown St. Louis

Cahokia RV Parque is a nice RV park only 15 minutes from downtown St. Louis. We stayed two nights and really enjoyed the St. Louis area. I compared the park to two others near St. Louis on the Illinois side and found this one to be the most pleasant. Most of the sites are sunny, but some have shade. The park streets are asphalt, but the sites are gravel. The park is quiet. Gave it 4 stars for cleanliness due to the gravel sites. Otherwise, the park was clean.

Stayed in campsite#34 which has plenty of shade. It was a gravel back-in site with enough parking for my TT and truck with plenty of grass on either side. The site included: picnic table on a concrete patio, fire ring, and small trees. Utilities were located closer to the front of the site: 20A/30A/50A electric water, sewer. Site was pretty level. Awning faced east so we didnt get the evening sun shining underneath, but a tree prevented me from opening the awning. It didnt matter because there was plenty of shade in the evening, but not much in the middle of the day. Nearest neighbor was close.

AT&T had 2 bars of 5G and Verizon 3 bars of LTE service. AT&T Speedtest 49.7 Mbps down, 3.35 Mbps up. Could not access the WiFi even though the password was on the info sheet.

Would stay here again.  We camped at Cahokia RV Parque in a Travel Trailer.

    Wonderful layover and family friendly

Timber Trails Campground is a easy layover off of I-70, offering a family-friendly environment. The park provided us an easy in and out, pull-through site that was level and convenient. Coles Creek Recreation Area

    Nice lake, quiet campground

Coles Creek Campground on Carlyle Lake has 219 sites, most with full hookups, and shade. (There is 30 & 50 a as no service). Internet is spotty. There are also 2 group campsites with cabins. There are showers, flush toilet, a playground, fish cleaning station, boat ramp and a dump station. There is also a laundry area. All the campsites are either on the shoreline or a short walk to the lake. The whole campground is fairly flat, so the sites are level and easy to get into. There are a few pull through sites. Comes Creek is on the east side of Carlyle Lake, away from the larger, more crowded Hazlet State Park area. It’s a great place for fishing and boating or just enjoying the lake. The lake is a prime fishing and boating lake, and is recognized as one of the nation's top ten inland sailing lakes.

Guide to Greenville

RV campsites near Greenville, Illinois offer convenient access to Interstate 70, with options within a 30-minute drive of the city. Surrounding areas include small towns and agricultural landscapes with elevations ranging from 500-600 feet above sea level. Summer highs typically reach the upper 80s, while winter temperatures can drop below freezing, making April through October the prime camping season.

What to do

Visit Gateway Arch National Park: St. Louis attractions are accessible from Cahokia RV Parque, located about an hour west of Greenville. "We parked our RV, summoned an Uber, and were at the top of the arch in an hour!" reports one camper. Some campgrounds even offer transportation options: "They have a shuttle to the various tourist attractions, just ask the staff at the office for details."

Fish at local ponds: Several campgrounds near Greenville feature fishing opportunities. Archway RV Park provides a pond with a gazebo for fishing. One visitor noted, "There is a nice playground and dog park as well as a pond at the location." The fishing areas typically don't require permits but check with campground staff about catch limits.

Explore historical sites: The region contains numerous historical landmarks within short driving distance. At Draft Kings at Casino Queen RV Park, campers can easily access downtown attractions. "Stayed two nights passing through to visit Gateway Arch National Park," mentioned one reviewer, adding that "Casino has a metro stop that takes you into St Louis over the river."

What campers like

Clean facilities: Many rv sites near Greenville, Illinois maintain well-kept bathrooms and shower areas. At Kamper Kompanion RV Park, visitors appreciate the "Clean. Well maintained" facilities. Another reviewer described it as "very quiet and super clean," making it a reliable stopover when traveling through the area.

Dog-friendly accommodations: Pet owners appreciate dedicated dog areas at several campgrounds. One camper at Kamper Kompanion noted, "We love the dog yard!" Another visitor mentioned "Cute little fenced in pet area with benches for the pups to stretch." Most parks allow pets but require them to be leashed when outside designated areas.

Easy highway access: Travelers value the convenient location of campgrounds near major routes. "Easy on off, right by highway," reported one Kamper Kompanion visitor. Another camper at Archway RV Park stated it was "Easy on and off Interstate 64," making it particularly appealing for those passing through the region on longer trips.

What you should know

Site spacing varies significantly: Expect different levels of privacy depending on the campground. At Kaskaskia Dragon RV Park, campers enjoy "Long spots, friendly owner, easy access to hardware store across the street," while others noted that at city-adjacent parks, "The spaces are tighter, but that was expected being closer to a city."

Limited tent camping options: Most facilities primarily serve RVs with few accommodations for tent campers. One reviewer of Cedarbrook RV Park noted, "There are only about 6 tent sites at this campground, which makes it not entirely friendly for tent campers." Call ahead if planning to tent camp to confirm availability.

Variable Wi-Fi quality: Internet connectivity differs between campgrounds. A Kaskaskia Dragon RV Park visitor mentioned that "wifi is poor," though most parks advertise some level of connectivity. If reliable internet is essential, consider using cellular data instead, as coverage is generally strong throughout the region.

Tips for camping with families

Playground availability: Select campgrounds with recreational facilities for children. Archway RV Park offers "a nice playground and dog park as well as a pond," according to one visitor. Another camper noted the "outside area is made for families to play and relax and enjoy time together."

Swimming options: During summer months, pools provide welcome relief from heat. Cahokia RV Parque includes a swimming pool among its amenities. "The grounds, pool, laundry, and bathrooms were all in excellent repair and clean. The park was quiet, but very family friendly," reported one camper.

Nearby food options: Some campgrounds feature on-site dining or nearby restaurants. At Cahokia RV Parque, guests recommend "the BBQ place in the parking lot... fantastic food and a 10% discount for park customers." Another visitor emphasized, "Do NOT miss the BBQ place in the parking lot... fantastic food and a 10% discount for park customers."

Tips from RVers

Electrical connections: Check amperage requirements before booking. At Archway RV Park, "Full-hookups with only a 50amp connection so if you are using 30 make sure you have a 50/30 adapter," advised one RVer. Most parks near Greenville offer both 30-amp and 50-amp service, but availability varies by site.

Pull-through accessibility: Larger rigs benefit from certain campgrounds with spacious sites. At Kamper Kompanion, one camper described their experience: "Easy pull thru site with 40' and toad. basically a big open flat field with sites and building spread throughout." Call ahead to confirm if your specific RV length can be accommodated.

Utility placement considerations: Pay attention to hookup locations when setting up. At Casino Queen RV Park, "Utilities are set up weird on all sites - Water and electric are at the very rear of the site by the sewer, so you will need a decent sized hose to reach if your water intake is in the front of your camper." Bringing extension cords and longer hoses can help overcome this challenge.
