Best RV Parks & Resorts near Cairo, IL

Several RV campgrounds operate within 30 miles of Cairo, Illinois, primarily across state borders in Missouri and Kentucky. Hinton RV Park in Sikeston features level gravel sites with full hookups including 50-amp service, while Boomland RV Park in Charleston offers 30-amp connections and accommodates larger vehicles. Cape Camping & RV Park in Cape Girardeau provides concrete pads with both 50-amp electric and sewer hookups, making it suitable for extended stays. Most parks have sites designed for bigger motorhomes with pull-through access, though spacing varies between locations. "Sites were reasonably spaced, many with large trees. Not real far off I-55," noted one visitor about The Landing Point RV Park.

Interstate access plays a significant role in campground selection, with most RV parks positioned strategically near major highways for convenient overnight stops. Dump stations are available at approximately half the parks, with Hinton and Cape Camping offering sanitary dumps for guests. Cell service tends to be reliable near the larger towns, while more rural locations may have spotty coverage. According to one visitor, road noise can be an issue at parks like Fern Lake Campground: "The only downfall is the highway noise." Winter camping options remain available year-round at most RV parks in the region, though amenities like shower facilities might operate on reduced schedules. Many establishments accommodate pets with designated walking areas, and some provide propane fill services for longer-term travelers.

    Magnolia Campground & Country Store

    Highlights

    🌳 Highlights

Welcome & Hospitality Newly opened in October 2020 and family-run by Rick & Glenda Wilson, guests often highlight their warm, friendly service . One reviewer said:

    > “Owners and staff all super friendly, engaging and kind.”

Campground Quality Features include full hookups (30/50 amp, water, sewer), gravel pull-through sites for big rigs (up to ~43 ft), free WiFi, dump station, propane fill, fire pits, picnic tables, laundry, and a shower house .

On‑site Country Store & Deli A notable perk is the store with fresh deli items and daily lunch specials—particularly Friday catfish dinners—plus occasional breakfast on Saturdays .

    ⭐ Guest Reviews Snapshot

    Mick & Karla (30 Mar 2025)

Booked same-day, chose pull-through site, enjoyed 40 psi water, decent WiFi/cell service.

Friendly staff and solid amenities, though gravel/dirt sites got dusty or muddy depending on weather.

Road noise from nearby I‑57 noted. Felt $40/night was a bit high.

    CatTrailzz (24 Jul 2024)

Quiet despite being near the freeway. Loves the deli (noting salads and pulled pork).

    Clean facilities, new shower room.

    Plans to stay again.

    QueenMartell (16 Mar 2024)

    Friendly check-in, excellent service.

Accommodated a 43 ft fifth wheel with ease.

Highly recommends, loves the Friday catfish.

Other reviewers (Kitty, Kyla D, Tergeo)

Consistently mention friendly owners, clean/gravel sites, good common areas, and a strong likelihood to return .

    Pros & Cons

    👍 Pros 👎 Cons

Warm, personal service Sites are gravel/dirt—can be dusty or muddy Full hookups and big‑rig friendly Road noise from I‑57 On-site deli with fresh food & catfish dinners Wi-Fi and cell coverage are serviceable but not exceptional Clean shower/laundry facilities Price (~$39–40/night) might be a bit high for basic amenities

    Summary

Magnolia Campground is a great overnight or short-term stop if you’re looking for friendly hospitality, solid basic RV hookups, and the novelty of a country store with good food in southeast Missouri. It’s particularly suited for large RVs, travelers who enjoy a welcoming vibe, and those who appreciate a Friday catfish dinner. It’s not a destination resort, so if you're seeking plush amenities or a quiet nature getaway, plan accordingly.

    Bottom Line

If you're rolling through with an RV and want a hassle-free, friendly, quick stay with full hookups and good food, Magnolia is a solid choice. For longer stays, be prepared for gravel underfoot and some road noise—but clean facilities and warm hosts might still make it worth it.

    Magnolia Campground & Country Store

    Very Good Customer Service

This review is based on a short stay rather than a destination campground (CG) experience. We found this CG while looking for options near Sikeston, MO, and decided to try it based on positive online reviews. Booking was easy with a same-day reservation, and we received an email with directions, the WiFi password, and instructions to pick any site between 8 and 13, designated for big rigs and short-term stays, as most of the other sites were occupied by longer-term residents. We chose pull-through site #11 with full hookups (FHU) due to its convenient angle. All of the sites, including the shorter back-ins, offer FHU. Our site accommodated our 40’ fifth wheel and F450 truck comfortably, with centrally located utilities and 40 psi water pressure. The WiFi was sufficient for checking emails and general browsing, while cell service was limited to 1 bar on Verizon and 3 bars on T-Mobile. With few trees, satellite reception wouldn’t be an issue. During our stay, we were the only short-term guests. Some sites had picnic tables and fire pits, and while ours did not, we could have moved them if desired. The CG has a nice shower house and laundry facility, but the real draw is the country store, which operates more like a restaurant. The owner and staff were exceptionally friendly, and the food was good. The sites are pretty much gravel and dirt. At $40 per night, the price felt a bit high for the amenities offered. We were there during dusty conditions, and friends came through a week later in the rain, and the CG was muddy. Along with the country store with a restaurant, there’s a dump station, plus they sell ice and propane. Being located along a frontage road off I-57, road noise was noticeable. Overall, we had a pleasant overnight stay and appreciated their hospitality.

    Riverview Campground

    Beautiful Views

Riverview campground is a clean, quiet, family friendly campground. It overlooks the Ohio River and provides amazing views at sunset. The stargazing is also great. There are 30 amp and 50 amp sites with water, and a dump station is on site. Firewood is also provided. This was the perfect place to spend the weekend!

Kentucky Dam Village State Resort Park

    Old and small

The sites are very small but spread out. Our 35 ft class a barely fit. They do show length limits for sites and they definitely max limit. There is electric (30 amp) and water at the site but it was 75 ft from my sites. Extensions are needed. The staff is friendly and the roads are paved but there are signs directing where to go. Great bathrooms and plentiful. Also coin operated laundry. Fairly close to the freeway.

    Cypress Creek RV Park

    Great for the Night

If you are traveling on I 57 or I 55 this is a great over night stay.  Beautiful Campground but not to many amenities.  IT does have the best internet we have had in 3 months.  Love the trees and nice level sites.  It has a few run down long term campers, but they don't over run the place.

    Fern Lake Campground

    Clean, close to Highway

We stopped here overnight twice because it was close to the highway and had pull-through sites to accommodate our 43’ fifth wheel. We were pleasantly surprised by how nice it was, and you couldn’t even hear the Highway. Our sites both times were in the gravel pull-through area, which seems to be intended for short stays. Even though we were close to the neighbors the sites are angled, so we had a beautiful view of a grassy area with trees out our living room windows. The longer stay sites had gravel and then grass in between the sites, and views of a lake. Very serene, pretty and clean campground.

    Shawnee Forest Campground

    EV Car Camping

I’m a novice car camper, sleeping in my Tesla Model 3. This campground is quiet and clean. The host is very friendly and knowledgeable. Each site has 50 amp electric service (so you can charge your EV with a NEMA 14-50 plug), fresh water, fire pits, and picnic tables. A nice stop to visit the Shawnee National Forest.

    Fern Lake Campground

    Camping Quilter

Located on the edge of Paducah, Kentucky this is the perfect place to stay if you are going to the quilt shows or visiting the National Quilt Museum. Supplies are just walking distance away and there is a good 24 hour restaurant across the street.

There are shady pull through sites with full hook ups or tent sites. There is a small stocked lake to fish in. The bathrooms are clean, as is the entire well maintained park.

    Paducah-Kentucky Lake KOA

    Very nice little KOA

We only stayed one night but staff was very pleasant and sites are reasonable size. There is a nice dog park with disposable bags. Our site overlooks a nice little pond. There is a clean laundry facility and heated restroom and showers. We did not need to use the facilities so I cannot comment on those. Campground is easily accessible from I24. We would definitely stay here again.

Guide to Cairo

RV campgrounds near Cairo, Illinois cluster primarily in neighboring states across the Ohio and Mississippi Rivers. Most parks maintain open operations year-round, with varying amenities during winter months. Overnight rates typically range from $15-35 depending on hookup options and location. Cell coverage generally remains reliable at established RV parks, though reception weakens in more remote areas between towns.

What to do

Fishing access: Cypress Lakes RV Park offers direct fishing opportunities with an on-site lake. "Has a little Lake in it to fish. Not far off the interstate makes it handy," notes Karen S. The park maintains stocked waters suitable for casual anglers without requiring additional permits.

Walking trails: Concrete walking paths provide exercise options near several campgrounds. "There was a public paved walking trail along the back of the CG, which was very nice to walk the dogs," reports MickandKarla W. about their stay at Cape Camping & RV Park.

Local attractions: Many campgrounds provide strategic access to regional points of interest. "Plenty of things close in the area," mentions Ricky L. about the convenience of staying at Hinton RV Park while exploring nearby attractions.

What campers like

Spacious sites: Paducah RV Park & Campground earns praise for its layout. "Lots of space would stay again," writes Christopher K., while another guest appreciates the "Quick full hook up pull through, with Great sky views, country feel and a common outdoor area near lake."

Clean facilities: Well-maintained bathrooms and shower facilities receive consistent positive comments. "The bathrooms and laundry facilities at the park are very nice," notes Whistle P. about their stay at Coyote View RV Park.

Reasonable rates: Budget-conscious travelers appreciate affordable options. "This place is nice for $15 easy pull in, full hook ups, nice gift shop and gas really close as right off the freeway," writes Frank about Boomland RV Park, noting the value despite limited amenities.

What you should know

Highway noise: Road sounds affect sleep quality at certain locations. "The only downfall is the highway noise," reports one camper about sites positioned near major roadways. At Duck Creek, "Sites next to the Hwy are a little loud but all in all, we definitely recommend," notes Jen K.

Seasonal resident mix: Many parks house long-term residents alongside overnight guests. "Mostly seasonal and permanent with a few spots for weekly and overnight," explains Wendy T. about Birdsville Riverside RV Park, which offers "a great setup for RVers looking to enjoy the area without being on top of their neighbors."

Weather considerations: Seasonal flooding affects some campgrounds in this river region. At Duck Creek RV Park, a camper reported: "The last night of our stay there was a rainstorm and we woke up to ankle-deep water pooled around our trailer." Spring camping carries the highest risk for water-related issues.

Tips for camping with families

Playground access: Several campgrounds provide dedicated play areas for children. "Kids enjoyed the playground and the reservoir is really beautiful," reports Delci L. about their family stay at Cypress Lakes.

Activity scheduling: Holiday weekends feature organized events for younger campers. "Love this campground, very friendly and accommodating. Lots of fun activities on Holiday weekends throughout the summer season," shares Cherri M. about their experience with children.

Seasonal activities: Summer offers the most family-friendly programming. "Also has many activities for the kids. Will be going back, I really enjoyed it," writes Bonnie F., highlighting the structured recreation options available during peak season at Cypress Lakes RV Park.

Tips from RVers

Leveling requirements: Site conditions vary significantly between parks. "Site was not completely level, but had we needed to stay longer we would have leveled ourselves," notes alicia L. about their 30' Class C experience at Hinton Park Inc RV Park.

Late arrival protocols: Many parks accommodate after-hours check-ins with specific procedures. "Pulled in after dark, had made reservations and welcome package with directions to my site was on office door. Site was protected with an orange cone," explains mike G., describing the self-check-in process.

Technical support: RV repairs may be available at certain locations. "If your RV needs service, CAMP HERE! The owners Lowell and Jill are THE BEST HUMANS. We were on a cross country journey when our slide suddenly stopped working," shares Whistle P. about the maintenance assistance they received at Coyote View.
