Best Cabin Camping near Osburn, ID

Cabins near Osburn, Idaho range from basic rustic accommodations to fully furnished rental units across several established campgrounds. Camp Coeur D'Alene offers log cabins of various sizes situated on different levels of a hillside, providing some privacy despite their proximity to each other. Avery Creek Cabin includes electric hookups, picnic tables and toilet facilities, while Cabins by the Joe provides more complete amenities with electric hookups, water access, and sewer connections. Camp Coeur D Alene

Tucked in the side of the mountain on the water

Even though the sites are small and close together, they are at different levels as you go up the hill combined with the sites and cabins being tucked under the giant pines, gives you a sense of privacy. It's a really cute campground/resort. They offer tent area, Rv area and log cabins of various sizes. Pool. Boat launch with access to coeur d'Alene lake. Beautiful setting. Cell signal is good.

    By the Way Campground

    Great Stay, Wonderful Managers.

Our family had a great one night stay. It was very last minute but they had a tent spot available. They do have around fifteen RV spots a few small cabins, and a handful of tent spots. The tent spots are around the perimeter of a gazebo that had electric hookup. They have four total restrooms, two of those have showers, and they have a laundry facility available as well. Everything was clean and we'll kept! Planning on staying again!

Hawleys Landing Campground — Heyburn State Park

    Great Campground but loud maintenance

We stayed at Chatcolet campground for two nights in late June. The campground is really nice with lovely hosts and clean flushable toilets. We booked site 128 and didn’t realise it was a tent only site with a short walk from where you park to the picnic table, fire ring and tent pad. We have a rooftop tent so we parked and set up our tent and then just carried our chairs, food and wood down to the picnic table. Privacy on these sites isn’t the best, I would recommend booking this site along with 129 as a group site to give yourself good privacy.

Overall this campground was great, the toilets were clean, they are porcelain, flushing toilets inside a hut. There was drinking water and some nice walks to the lake, if you have bicycles there is a really nice cycle that you can do. The reason for rating this 3 out of 5 is that there was very noisy and intrusive maintenance going on from 7am to 5pm in the sites next to us which was very disruptive. No warning had been given about maintenance in the campground, notice was only given regarding roadworks leading into the campground.

Waldron Campground — Farragut State Park

    Mostly a great campground

Pros: most sites are large and well appointed with paved driveways and gravel pad for picnic table, fire pit, and tents if you have them. Water and electricity at site. Plenty of trails to walk. Three dump and water stations. Cons: check in is way too late (2 pm), they require you to check in at visitor center, and the parking lot is not large enough to accommodate all the rvs checking in at 2 pm. Other con is no campsites on the water. The shoreline is very scenic but the camp and surroundings not so much. Just overstocked young forest. Also our electric post was damaged so cord kept coming unhooked. Had to bungee cord it.

    Quaint & Enjoyable!

Tucked back behind a neighborhood of fairly luxurious homes and sitting near the lake, these sites offer a nice spot to catch a breath while traveling. We stayed at tent site 10 and it has been perfect. $27/night for tent and $38/night for RVs. Pet friendly, great host, facilities, and plenty of space.

    Liberty Lake Regional Park

    Terrific sunsets!

Nice level car camping spot. Rolled in and took one of the 2 upper road RV sites away from the main campsites below and was treated with a great sweeping view of the lake with a stellar sunset. Good fire ring with grate. Open bbq grill. Picnic table has seen better days. Didn't use the showers. Clean bathrooms. Would stay there again.

    Liberty Lake Regional Park

    Quiet park close to Spokane

We spent 3 weeks at Liberty Lake Regional Park while visiting our son and grandkids in Spokane. The road in is a little narrow, but once in, it’s a great little campground. Most of the sites are fairly level. We stayed at 2 different sites over 3 weeks, and both were level. They are close together! They provide a fire pit if you want one. Picnic table, water and electric. The dump station is quite a drive, back out, up the hill. There is a clean shower/bathroom building and a beach within walking distance of the campground. While we were there the campground hosts did a fantastic job of keeping everything clean and tidy. Several hiking trails, including an equestrian trail, waterfall, fishing and lots of wildlife. There were deer in the campground every day, we saw moose, owls, pilated woodpecker, and hawks. We were there over July 4th weekend and they had a fireworks display on the beach.

What campers like

Outdoor kitchens: Wolf Lodge Campground features shared cooking spaces that supplement cabin facilities. A camper observed the "site had outdoor kitchens and several showers," which helps when cabin space is limited. These areas typically include sinks, counter space, and sometimes cooking equipment.

Lake access: Cabin rentals with water proximity receive high marks from visitors. At Hawleys Landing Campground, campers appreciate that the "lake is an absolute stunner" and one visitor mentioned, "Great place to swim, kayak, bike, and go bird watching." The Trail of the Coeur D'Alene runs through this campground, with one camper noting that "biking the 7 mile ride to Harrison is a great way to spend the day."

Quiet sites: Several cabin options provide relative seclusion despite being at established campgrounds. A visitor to By the Way Campground reported it has a "park like environment" and another mentioned they were "warned a Moose family likes to walk through" the property, indicating its natural setting.

What you should know

Winter access limitations: Many cabin properties have seasonal restrictions or limited amenities during colder months. Liberty Lake Regional Park cabins operate only "seasonally from May through mid-September," while others maintain year-round availability with reduced services.

Highway proximity: Some cabin rentals near Osburn sit close to major roadways. Wolf Lodge Campground reviews mention "decent amount of highway noise" and another camper noted, "Interstate noise is not too bad." Properties farther from I-90 typically offer quieter surroundings but require additional driving time.

Seasonal temperatures: Summer cabin stays typically experience temperatures between 75-90°F during daytime and 50-60°F at night. A visitor to Cabins by the Joe shared that "the view was amazing" but advised "you better bring every thing you need because there aren't any stores close."

Tips for camping with families

Entertainment options: Several cabin properties provide dedicated recreation areas. Wolf Lodge offers "a trampoline, playground, and other games" and one visitor mentioned it had "lots of free or low priced activities for the kids. We loved kayaking down the creek at the campground and saw wildlife."

Site selection strategy: When booking cabins with children, request locations away from common areas. One family at Camp Coeur D'Alene reported "we were lucky enough to land the island campground which made the whole experience amazing!" explaining it "was far away from every other campsite."

Cabin size considerations: Most rental cabins accommodate 2-6 people with varying sleeping arrangements. A visitor at By the Way Campground noted they "have around fifteen RV spots, a few small cabins, and a handful of tent spots," suggesting varied accommodation options for different family sizes.

Tips from RVers

Utility connections: The availability of hookups varies significantly between cabin properties. At Wolf Lodge Campground Idaho, a visitor mentioned, "We got full hook-ups but the sewer connection is smaller than we are used to. I'm not sure if we have an adapter for it." RVers should verify specific connection types and sizes before arrival.

Site dimensions: Some cabin and RV areas have space limitations. A Wolf Lodge camper noted "the sites are close together and it felt like a tight squeeze to get in, but there were some rigs bigger than ours in here so it is doable." Most sites accommodate vehicles up to 40 feet, though longer rigs may require special arrangements.

Seasonal reservations: Summer bookings for cabin stays should be made 3-6 months in advance, particularly for holiday weekends. Off-season availability typically improves, with some properties offering discounted rates during shoulder seasons.
