    Rivers Edge RV Park

Would not recommend if you want any piece and quiet!

We arrived for our weekend mid-afternoon on Friday. Parked our trailer in our designated spot in the middle of the grassy area near the horseshoe pits. After unloading, setting up and taking a walk around the park (down to the river, dock, beach area, etc) it became obvious that this was not the place we expected it to be based on other reviews!

We decided to give it some time and benefit of the doubt. Made dinner and ate outside (weather was perfect). During dinner we were treated to the drunken, LOUD ramblings of other campers - complete with foul language at the highest volume possible! Permanent residents at the back of the park left a lot to be desired. Messy camp sites.

There are no hiking trails or places to explore. If you don't have a camp spot right on the water, fishing access is horrible - only super shallow, reed-filled openings. Certainly not what we expected from a riverfront park with great reviews. The fishing dock is a joke, the water near and around the dock is a filthy, grime filled, trash collecting mess!

Tried to get our child to bed before 10pm but was virtually impossible with the level of noise coming from the group area (which was across the park, mind you), not to mention music streaming loudly from several other campers all around. 10pm quiet hour does not seem to matter to the hosts who did nothing to help those of us who expect rules to be followed.

By first thing in the morning, we had found another camp site to flee to and we couldn't get out of there fast enough!

Never again will we be back. Never again.

    Rivers Edge RV Park

    Camping with a River View

This summer we tried Rivers Edge Rv Park for the first time and had a great experience. On our drive up to Pacific Northwest in early August we did tent camping here and in late September we tried the cabins along the river. Wonderful quiet location, good hosts and amazing sunsets on the Snake River. If you stay in the cabins, just a note that this is a place where you need to bring your own bedding and kitchen items, however there is a hot plate and sink, plus a microwave. The ladder steps up to the bedroom was an adventure in itself😛 No bathrooms in the cabin, but there is a community bathroom and shower. One star off because the bathroom really does need to be updated. Shower was a bit grungy. But for everything great about this place, I know we will be back!

    Right next to the lake!

Clean, leveled, friendly, only 1/4 mile to their downtown. Only wish I was able to do laundry but coming back again! Oh and the best part, great fishing under the bridge!

Farewell Bend State Recreation Area Campground

Just a Hop Skip and Jump away from Idaho

Living in Idaho near the border of Idaho, I was looking for a great catfishing spot on the Snake River. I found this campground along the Snake just on the other side of the border - eastern Oregon. The campgrounds are AWESOME!!! The have all the amenities for RV camping. They do have tent camping sites as well. There is some great history of the area and we were appreciative of how the State Park system displayed it. Great fishing for the shore angler as well as boat anglers. I fished from my kayak and caught crappie and catfish as well as some smallmouth bass. I would definitely camp here again. They do have a dump station for RVs as well as restrooms. Each site has a fire pit and picnic table.

    Rivers Edge RV Park

    Beautiful!

Traveling through Idaho and made this reservation online just an hour before arrival. Very simple to reserve.

We have a 38' 5th wheel pulled with a dually pickup. It was a tight fit, but after we were parked, it was awesome. We were in space #5. After unhooking, we did park the pickup across the lane in space they have for extra vehicles. Hook ups were simple. Although the sewer pipe at our site was a little high, so we had to really use risers under our drain pipe to get it to that level. Other sites seemed ground level.

When we left the next morning, we did have to pull out the "entrance" lane, as the angle of the space and smaller area, we couldn't turn sharp enough for the exit lane.

We could watch the sunset over the Snake River from out campsite. No bugs and lots of shade. Quiet campground.......except the duck hunters on other properties.
We didn't use the restrooms, etc. there.

They have very nice metal fire pits and a decent picnic table at each site. If you needed to stay in a cabin, they looked very nice. The larger one with the bathroom, was a beautiful site.

The price was great, especially for full hookups. I wish we could have stayed more than one night.

We would definitely stay there again.

    Rivers Edge RV Park

It’s like a dirty dog that badly needs grooming

Reading the other reviews made me a little unsure, but I went for it. The location is outstanding and my site is right on the river. The sites aren’t real obvious so I kind of made it up as I went. There is trash everywhere. The fire pits are all full of trash. And a little mowing or weed eating would help. To be honest, all the campgrounds I’ve been to this trip have been covered in trash and dog feces. It’s obvious service has gone the way of the dinosaurs. Keep your expectations low!!!

Farewell Bend State Recreation Area Campground

    Riverside desert experience

Farewell bend is a day use state park and campground located near Huntington Oregon and nestled on the Snake River.

The park is a dry desert setting with yellowing grasses, tall spiny trees and sand dunes. The snake river is a deep emerald green flowing with foam from the upriver reservoir.

The campground has three large loops that can accommodate the largest of personal busses down to the classic sleeping bag. There are electric and water connections, a sewer dump and a boat launch. There are a couple of rentable waterfront cabins available on C-loop.

Many fisherman come here to enjoy the well stocked waters, keep an eye out for the other river wildlife commonly seen, rattle snakes. Other water sports are welcome here, boating and waterskiing happens all day long. The dunes across the river are a popular off-road and motorized fun location.

The river is pretty much inaccessible from the campgrounds, the day use area allows for access to the rocky beach, but the waters edge is not clean sadly, polluted with litter and river foam.

The park is a very warm and sunny Oregon escape with little to no cellular service.

    Such a DISAPPOINTMENT

The cabin we reserved for two nights was such a disappointment, becasue of the time we arrived we forced ourselves to stay one night. The floors were not clean and sleeping on the bed provided was like sleeping on a pie tin. it crinkled and cracked everytinme you moved. The cabin door you could not lock and the bathroom was unbelievably dirty. The shower was more like a drip.

Guide to Ola

Situated at approximately 3,600 feet elevation, Ola, Idaho lies in a region characterized by mountainous terrain and the Payette River watershed. The area experiences distinct seasonal changes, with summer temperatures averaging 75-85°F and winter temperatures frequently dropping below freezing. Camping options range from riverside sites along the Payette River to mountain forest settings, with several locations offering glamping accommodations as alternatives to traditional tent camping.

What to do

River recreation on Payette River: The South Fork of the Payette River provides numerous recreational opportunities near Mountain View. "Beautiful view of the river from many sites. Reservations seem to be accepted but we did not have a reservation. We camped here to be near white water rafting. Consider rafting with payette river company 208-720-7039. They are awesome and take rafts out at the end of this campground," notes Jennifer T.

Fishing opportunities: Anglers can access multiple fishing spots throughout the area. At Cold Springs Campground, campers appreciate the proximity to fishing. "This is a small campground right off Highway 55 and across from the Payette River. There are 4 small campgrounds right in a row near here. There is plenty of shade and pretty good privacy," reports Amy S.

Wildlife observation: Many camping areas offer opportunities to observe local wildlife. "Nice campground. Some sites next to beautiful Payette River. Not very crowded on a Monday evening. Bald eagle flying up and down river!" shares Janet K. about her Mountain View camping experience.

What campers like

Water access and activities: Many glamping sites near Ola, Idaho provide direct water access. At Caldwell Campground and RV Park, "The bathrooms and showers are excellent! Clean, secure. The lakeside location and walking trails are beautiful. Feels like living outside of town but still close to everything town offers," according to Rachele B.

Proximity to town amenities: Several camping and glamping locations offer convenient access to nearby towns. Waters Edge RV Resort visitors appreciate this aspect. As Phillip C. notes, "Staff very friendly and accommodating. Sites are pretty level. Campground within walking distance to town, good river front area. Fairly quiet, we will come again!"

Recreation paths: The area features several designated trails and paths for walking, hiking and biking. "The Greenbelt, a 3 mile paved path can be accessed right at the front of the campground. It crosses an old train bridge and then runs along the water," explains Kelsey G. about Caldwell Campground.

What you should know

Site limitations: Some campgrounds have restrictions on RV size or tent placement. Cold Springs Campground has "Not much room for larger campers or RV, better for smaller campers and tents," according to Amy S.

Weather preparedness: The area can experience significant temperature fluctuations. "What a beautiful place, and location to spend a week in October. With all the fall colors in full display, brisk evening air perfect for a fall fire to warm yourself... though it was chili at night, and our pipes froze the last night, it was the best October birthday week we have had in a long time," shares a Waters Edge RV Resort camper.

Reservation requirements: Many sites, especially glamping accommodations, require advance booking. Eastside campground has specific reservation protocols. Jessica O. explains: "Group Campground, Reservation Only. Great spot for groups! Limited spaces and not super close together — which we love. View of the water is beautiful and there are many trees to provide shade for the entire campground."

Tips for camping with families

Beach access options: When glamping near Ola with children, seek sites with safe water entry points. "The tent sites are super close together and there is alot of highway noise. If you're looking for a quick site with amenities this is good though. It has shade and thats a huge plus," notes Benjamin about Caldwell Campground.

Playground amenities: Some camping areas include dedicated play areas. "Fun REC for kids, playground, and party fire pit area. Individual spots were extremely tight. Employee had to help us park (even though we didn't feel like we needed it)," mentions Isabel about Arrowhead RV Park on the River.

Site spacing considerations: Family groups should consider how close camping sites are to each other. "The sites are spaced far apart and very spacious. Campground host is great and the campground is clean. There are a few pull throughs which make it easy for RVs. The beach at the lake is lovely. Site #7 backs up to a large beach area," recommends Heidi C. about Rainbow Point.

Tips from RVers

Access challenges: Some RV glamping sites near Ola have specific approach requirements. "The guide took us to our site. He had the people in the next site move their car so we could pull through and back in. Then he directed my husband pull through an area where there was a dead tree with the branches cut off," reports Karen G. about her challenging experience.

Leveling information: RVers should note site conditions regarding levelness. "Sites are all fairly close together with not a lot of privacy. The lake is beautiful, but expect noise from boats. The vault toilets were clean," advises Joshua D. about Rainbow Point.

Hookup quality: Check water and electric connections upon arrival. "We found the 30 amp outlet melted & broken and the 110 outlet blackened from spark damage. The office was closed but I managed to find a maintenance man to come look at the outlet," cautions Dave S. from his experience at Boise Riverside RV Park.
