Beautiful Idaho

I love this area of Idaho. The campground is outside of Carey and a little remote, but right up against those beautiful rolling hills that are one of my favorite backdrops in this geologically diverse state.

The reservoir, like many in this area, is very low most of the year and you should probably contact BLM to see what the status is before you go, if that’s a consideration for you.

It can get hot and windy, but everything improves in the evening (and particularly once the mosquitoes go away). We saw bald eagles among other cool birds.

Road into the campground was totally fine and passable, sites are well laid out and kept.

No cell service whatsoever, so be aware of that.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I get to Fish Creek Reservoir Campground in Idaho?

Fish Creek Reservoir Campground is located outside of Carey, Idaho. The campground is somewhat remote, situated against the beautiful rolling hills characteristic of this geologically diverse region of Idaho. While specific road directions aren't detailed, visitors should prepare for a drive through rural Idaho terrain. As with many remote campgrounds, it's advisable to have updated maps or navigation before heading out, especially since cell service may be limited in rural areas. For the most accurate directions, contact the local land management agency that oversees this campground.

What camping facilities are available at Fish Creek Reservoir?

Fish Creek Reservoir offers a rustic camping experience in a scenic setting against beautiful rolling hills. The campground is fairly remote, providing a peaceful outdoor experience. While specific amenities aren't detailed, expect basic facilities typical of more remote Idaho campgrounds. The area's natural beauty is a highlight, making it appealing for those who appreciate Idaho's diverse geology and landscapes. Given its location and the seasonal nature of the reservoir, facilities are likely minimal. For current information about available amenities, fire restrictions, and any seasonal closures, contact the managing agency before your trip.

What fishing opportunities are there at Fish Creek Reservoir?

Fishing is available at Fish Creek Reservoir, but water levels are a significant consideration. The reservoir is typically very low during most of the year, which can affect fishing conditions. This is common for many reservoirs in this area of Idaho. For specific information about fish species, catch limits, and licensing requirements, contact Idaho Fish and Game or the managing agency for the most up-to-date information.
