Best RV Parks & Resorts near Thomaston, GA

Several RV parks operate near Thomaston, Georgia with varying amenities and hookup options. Heart of Georgia RV Park in Yatesville features full hookups with 50-amp electric service and water connections for motorhomes. Pine Mountain RV Resort accommodates larger vehicles with big-rig friendly sites, providing water, sewer, and electric hookups year-round. At Ramsey RV Park in Warm Springs, RV sites include full hookup services with 30/50-amp connections, access to a salt water swimming pool, and laundry facilities. Most parks maintain gravel or limestone pads rather than concrete, with site spacing that varies significantly between properties. "Most spots are spaced for privacy. Some are shaded. Full hook-ups, salt water swimming pool, cable, bath house, camp fires allowed, pets allowed on leash."

Seasonal availability remains consistent throughout the year for most RV parks in the region, though advance reservations are recommended during peak travel periods. Many parks provide sanitary dump stations, though availability varies by location. Cell service quality fluctuates throughout the area, with visitors reporting adequate coverage at Heart of Georgia RV Park but spotty connections at other locations. Pet policies differ between properties - most allow leashed pets, though Atlanta South RV Resort prohibits pets entirely. Proximity to interstate highways makes many parks convenient overnight stops for travelers, though some access roads require careful navigation for larger motorhomes. A visitor noted: "We were able to park our 45 ft. motorhome and Jeep toad without unhooking" at one location, while another mentioned the challenge of "sites that were not very level" requiring jacks to achieve proper positioning.

    3 Creeks Campground

    Quiet for the most part

I stayed at 3 Creeks for a week as a dry run with a new Class A motorhome. The sites were not too close together, so that is a plus. A lot of full time residents, but mostly a quiet in-the-woods location. They have a mini water park, so expect some playtime noises during operation hours. Full hookups with 50 amp service and friendly hosts. Pet friendly, though most people do not clean up after their fur children.

    R. Shaefer Heard Campground

    Great Lakeside Camping

This park is located on the southern end of West Point lake near the town of West Point, GA. This is a wonderful park with 117 sites all located water front or water view, the sites are equipped with water, 30 or 50 amp electrical, table and fire ring. For this trip we stayed in site 115 which was level and paved, there was also a concrete pad with picnic table and an additional dirt and gravel tent pad area. We brought a canoe which was launched direct from our site which made this very convenient for morning and evening paddle trips. We also had bicycles, the park has good paved roads that are great for low impact bike riding.

There was good over the air TV reception as well as Verizon cell service and LTE data coverage. There’s ample shopping for supplies within 3.5 miles of the park in the towns of West Point and LaGrange.

The only negative for this park is the bathroom. There are two bath houses provided and several toilet only facilities, all are functional but in need of renovation. As as others have said, the park gates lock at 10:00 PM and there is no gate code to allow access after hours.

This is a great COE park with sites that provide views seldom found, we stayed here in a 20’ travel trailer.

    Perry Ponderosa RV Park

    Safe, well kept campground

My husband and I choose to stay here when in the Macon area. Stayed 3+ months in lot 57, 2 weeks in lot 45 and 1 week in lot 14. Wonderful owners that live on-site. There are several full time campers but never any riffraff. Lots of room for dog's to walk and run their humans. Propane fill station, WiFi, laundry room, shower house, bathroom's and a small playground. Easily accessible right off the highway, level sites, 30 & 50 Amp, Water & Sewer and many pull through sites. A pool would make it 5 stars for me 😀

    Arrowhead Park

    Local family fun

I have lived in and around Bibb County, Georgia most of my life and I have always enjoyed going to Tobesofkee Recreation Parks. There were four parks but one was shut down (Flintrock Park). I believe the park was built back in the 60’s. Early morning on Mother’s Day of 2008 a tornado came through leaving destruction to all three parks. The campground bathhouse’s saved around 50 people that were camping when the tornado came ripping through destroying campers, cars and trees. The county has rebuilt the three parks and each one offers a little something different. It’s pretty great place in my opinion.

Claystone Park: Lake Tobesofkee access, large beach, playground, water sports, boat ramps, fishing, disc golf, several small pavilions, one large enclosed pavilion, numerous picnic tables throughout the park and camping. The campground has 45 sites, some tents, back-ups and pull through. Not sure about tents sites but all camper sites have 20/30/50 amp service, water and poor cable service. There are a few sites with sewer. The campground does have a nice bathhouse with coin operated laundry.

Sandy Beach Park: Lake Tobesofkee access, large beach, water sports, fishing, several small pavilions, one large open pavilion, numerous picnic tables throughout the park and a water park.

Arrowhead Park: Lake Tobesofkee access, small beach, water sports, fishing, several small pavilions, one large open pavilion, numerous picnic tables throughout the park, mountain bike trail, playground, boat ramps and camping. The campground has 58 sites, some tents, back-ups and pull through. Not sure about tents sites but all camper sites have 20/30/50 amp service and water; no cable. There are a few sites with sewer. The campground does have two nice bathhouse with coin operated laundry.

    High Falls State Park Campground

    Beautiful

The park is gorgeous and well maintained. It’s a little tight in a place or two but we’re pulling a 40’ fifth wheel and had no problems. We stayed in spot 71 which was a pull through with large lot that was really nice. Fire pit, picnic table and grill as well. I’m uploading a set of maps. You definitely need them as the sites are marked nicely but the areas are not and it’s very confusing. Also if you use maps on a device make sure you add campground because there are a few other places you don’t want to go pulling a rig since the campground is in a state park. Great for hiking, biking, fishing etc. Plain on zero internet or cell coverage. I’m all about the camping adventure but I like to be able to contact the kids if needed. Overall great place.

    High Falls State Park Campground

    Falls

Went to High Falls State Park in January. site number 27. We stayed 8 nights There are two campgrounds- lakeside and River camping area. Lakeside is by High falls Lake and is closest to the falls. River camping is across the street we stayed in River camping area. Nice sites but open to neighbors. Sites included table, fire ring, lantern hook. Some sites are 30 amp some 50 amp and had some pull through sites. After the weekend we were one of only a few in the campground in January. Weather may change this time of year we had a lot of rain one day and freezing temperatures overnight but mostly it was good camping weather. Camp hosts were awesome!!! This park is not far off i-75. Dollar general was a few miles other than that not much around. Very easy hiking trail to waterfalls and several trails along Towaliga River, ruins of an old Mill. There is no swimming in falls or river. Afterr rain falls were flowing very fast. This park also has a swimming pool, mini golf, yurts, boat rentals all were closed in January. Bathhouses were well maintained and had laundry facilities. Phone and TV reception we're good at this park. 8 days was too much here I would recommend 4 to 5 days or as a stopover point but would definitely return here.
