Best Dog-Friendly Camping near Lakeland, GA

CAMPER SUMMARY PRESENTED BYFord

Reed Bingham State Park Campground welcomes pets at tent, RV, and cabin sites within its 375-acre park. Lake Park Campground and Stephen C. Foster State Park also accommodate pets with specific designated areas for dog walking. Most campgrounds in the Lakeland area maintain standard pet policies requiring leashes no longer than 6 feet, proof of current vaccinations, and limitations of 2-3 pets per site. Campground reviews consistently mention clean facilities and adequate space between sites for pet exercise. Big Mike's Ranch and RV Camp stands out with free-roaming farm animals that coexist with camped pets during daytime hours, while donkeys serve as natural nighttime security against predators. Cecil Bay RV Park offers large, level pull-through sites that provide ample room for pets, with pecan trees between sites creating natural boundaries.

Nearby hiking trails provide exercise opportunities for dogs, with the Valdosta area offering several walking paths accessible within 30 minutes of Lakeland. The Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park & Campground includes water access for dogs who enjoy swimming. Summer temperatures in southern Georgia regularly exceed 90°F, requiring extra attention to pet hydration and shade availability. Most campgrounds provide trash receptacles for pet waste disposal, though pet-specific amenities like designated dog parks are limited in this rural region. Road noise affects several campgrounds situated near Interstate 75, which may disturb noise-sensitive pets. Campground staff typically enforce quiet hours that include restrictions on excessive barking. Wildlife encounters are possible, particularly in parks bordering natural areas like the Okefenokee Swamp.

    River Park RV Park

    Visiting family

We chose this park because it was close to family we were visiting.

    Pros:

    Full hookups

    Laundry mat

    Showers

    Dog park

    Close to interstate

    Cons:

    Uneven sites

    Very close together

Tiny concrete pad, very little grass

No picnic table or fire ring

If you sit outside, your just looking at the side of the RV right next to you.

Lots of fulltimers with pretty rundown sites

Overly concerned about the grass while letting the rest of the park run down

Nothing worth getting pics of here

We will try a different park when we go back.

    Pebble Hill RV Resort

Not Quite A Resort, But Pretty Close!

I must admit, the concept of an RV Resort is lost on me, but that said, if I was looking for an RV Resort to spend the night(or a handful) than Pebble Hill RV Resort, located in the SE corner of Georgia, certainly ticks a number of boxes. At first glance, you would spy this RV campground and consider it to be, well, just like most of the rest– complete with 20/ 30/ 50 electrical amp and water hook-ups, slanted pull-through sites with a picnic table, BBQ and fire ring all encircling a small pond(with plans to develop a second one)– but upon a closer look(OK, more than a look, you’ll have to go for a short drive or a 10 minute walk) and you’ll come to the main house, where there’s a Victorian-like pool oasis, complete with sun loungers and umbrellas. Behind the great house here, you’ll discover another pond and about 20 additional spots– some of which they’ll let out to tent campers. Insider’s tip? I would definitely recommend a site near the main house, where, BTW, there’s plans to build a clubhouse/ gym space. There’s plenty of open spaces for a game of flag football or ultimate frisbee along with other amenities such as 2 laundry areas as well as fresh eggs every morning from the hens onsite, along with your pick of fresh produce from the resort’s own home-grown vegetable gardens, 2 dog parks along with a number of decent, albeit not-too-difficult hiking trails. This spot is pet friendly and overall, I found the owners, staff and rest of the RV-going community to be quite friendly, welcoming and inviting. Another upside to this spot is that it is relatively new and so the owners appear to be building and adding new things everyday. Insider’s tips? I have a handful… Nearby there’s a handful of golf courses(if that’s your thing) and for those wanting to hit the ocean shores, you’ll have about a 50 minute drive to the nearest beaches– not too bad when you consider the very reasonable prices you’ll be paying to stay at this spot. I’d also recommend that you check out some of what SE Georgia has to offer such as the quaint town of St. Mary’s, and it goes without saying, nearby Savannah, as well as some pretty outstanding islands like St. Simons, Jekyll, Sapelo and Cumberland. There’s also nearby General Coffee State Park, which has fantastic hiking trails and features a Heritage Farm so the little ones can see how hard it was to live(and have fun) back in the day. Happy Camping!

Madison RV Resort and Golf Course

    Enjoyable, quiet and well-kept

Very nice resort. We don’t golf (this was the closest place to our grandkids!) so I can’t speak about the golf course. The RV resort is wonderful! Friendly and polite staff and neighbors. Clean laundry and bathhouse. A large dog park. My only suggestion would be to divide the park into “little dogs, big dog” sections. Big rig friendly. We would most definitely recommend this resort!

    Jennings KOA

    Good Overnight Spot

Overnighted here on the way to FL Keys.  Pulled in way after hours.  Campground was easy to navigate.  Site was a pull through and very narrow but it worked for one night.

Bonus was a large dog park right across the street.

    Tifton RV Park I-75

    Can’t beat this KOA Journey

I’m only staying one night at this KOA Journey in Tifton but from what I’ve seen you can’t beat it! Tons of amenities including a playground, bathrooms, dog park, 1 mile dog nature hike, large spread out spaces for well over a hundred rigs I’d guess. If you’re planning a trip down 75 through this area, I highly recommend this spot for a stay over or longer.

Madison RV Resort and Golf Course

Still One of Our Favorite Campgrounds

This was our second time staying in this very nice RV park. There’s signage as you get close to the campground(CG) to guide you in. We arrived and checked in with no problems and were then escorted to site 60a to meet up with our travel partners who were in site 60, which are their buddy sites by the pond. Our nightly rate was based on the monthly rate and included a golf cart and golfing on their well maintained 9 hole course. WiFi was better than normal for this sized CG and we got two bars on Verizon but put up our WeBoost for more capability. We had a clear shot to the southern sky for satellite plus quite a few OTA channels. There are 3 very nice individual shower rooms, plus laundry facility with 4 washers and 4 dryers. Firewood& propane were available and included propane pickup(set the tank at the end of your site) and firewood delivery if requested. The CG has a nice mix of back-in and pull thru sites. Our buddy site was spacious, but would rate the other sites as"nearby." They also added another cabin for a total of three. This CG was definitely not a kids destination(big pro for us) as there was no playground nor much to do for the young ones, to include they aren't allowed to operate the golf carts. The CG was more adult oriented with a pickle ball court and activities such as group walks or special events like golf tournaments/leagues, karaoke and potlucks. A huge bonus for us was their large(about 2 acres) fenced dog park. This year they fenced off an area for small dogs. We also enjoyed daily walks around the CG and along the front of the golf course. If you are allergic to train noise, there is a train track adjacent to the CG. Trains didn't run everyday, but when they did, they were mainly during daylight hours. Otherwise, this was a quiet park considering its size. The mobile RV repair service this CG recommends is very good, and works with extended warranties. If you’re a foodie or desire a robust touristy experience, this is probably not the destination for you.

    Suwannee River State Park Campground

Wonderful option for tent or rv camping

Electric and water hook ups. Camping sites are large enough for 2 tents. Shaded well. There’s a decent boat ramp with over flow parking for the truck and trailer. Great for kayaking and Small boating. Trails are great for hiking and a few for mountain biking. Neat cemetery back in the grass lands near ranger station, lots of tortoises to see. Pet friendly for domestic pets. Ranger station was very helpful and knowledgeable about trails for longer distance biking. Wood for sale. Hot water bath house as well. Site has picnic tables. Very clean area.

Guide to Lakeland

Reed Bingham State Park Campground and Lake Park Campground both accommodate pets in their tent, RV, and cabin sites with enforced leash requirements. Stephen C. Foster State Park Campground and Eagles Roost RV Resort maintain similar pet policies across their facilities. Most campgrounds require pets to be kept on leashes no longer than six feet, and owners must clean up after their animals. The developed campgrounds provide basic waste disposal facilities but typically don't offer specialized pet amenities like designated dog parks. Cecil Bay RV Park maintains clean facilities with spacious sites suitable for overnight stays with pets. Valdosta Oaks RV Park features huge, level sites with ample space between neighbors, making it convenient for pet exercise without disturbing other campers.

Big Mike's Ranch and RV Camp offers a unique pet-friendly camping experience with farm animals including goats, donkeys, horses and chickens that roam free during daylight hours. The donkeys serve as natural protection against predators, creating a safe environment for campers and their pets at night. Campgrounds near I-75 provide convenient access for travelers with pets but come with highway noise that might disturb sensitive animals. Lake Park Campground features beautiful grounds with Spanish moss-covered trees providing shade for pets. Several reviewers note that despite proximity to highways, the traffic noise doesn't significantly impact their camping experience. Most campgrounds in the region maintain clean bathhouses and facilities, though amenities specifically for pets are limited. Campers should bring portable water dishes, waste bags, and proper restraints as standard pet areas aren't guaranteed at all locations.
