Best RV Parks & Resorts near Jackson, GA

Jackson, Georgia provides access to several RV parks with varying amenities and site configurations. Forest Glen Mobile Home and RV Park offers pull-through sites with 50-amp electrical hookups, sewer, and water connections. Atlanta South RV Resort, located in nearby McDonough, maintains full hookup sites with 50-amp service in a shaded setting. The campground includes a swimming pool and accommodates large rigs with level limestone pads. High Falls State Park Campground, approximately 7 miles from Jackson, features two separate camping areas with RV sites—riverside and lakeside—both offering electrical and water connections. "Very clean level site, shaded well, the staff helped me secure a site over the phone," noted one camper about Atlanta South RV Resort.

Most RV parks in the area remain open year-round with varying reservation requirements. Sites at Forest Glen tend to be situated close to Interstate 75, creating potential noise concerns for light sleepers. Cell service is generally reliable throughout the region, though connectivity may vary at state park locations. While Atlanta South provides full bath facilities and laundry, Forest Glen offers more limited amenities with no showers available. Many parks accommodate pets, though specific restrictions may apply. Dump stations are available at several locations, including Atlanta South and High Falls State Park. During peak travel seasons and holidays, advance reservations are strongly recommended as availability becomes limited, particularly for big rig sites with full hookups.

Hard Labor Creek State Park Campground

    One of the BEST!

We were back at HLC this past weekend and, as always, top-notch park! We have tent camped for several years but recently upgraded to a new (to us) pop up and we had a blast!

We camped at site 26 (one of the newer sites) and it had full hookup (our PUP does not have a bathroom but does have a galley). The site has electric (50 amp and 30 amp service) as well as free cable TV!!

The sites at HLC are well spaced and the bath houses are spotless!!

The park staff is amazing and the camp hosts are always cleaning up and are available if you need anything!

HLC is our go-to spot for a weekend getaway because of the above-mentioned reasons and it is close to home!!

    Claystone Park Campground

    Great campground to visit

I have lived in and around Bibb County, Georgia most of my life and I have always enjoyed going to Tobesofkee Recreation Parks. There were four parks but one was shut down (Flintrock Park). I believe the park was built back in the 60’s. Early morning on Mother’s Day of 2008 a tornado came through leaving destruction to all three parks. The campground bathhouse’s saved around 50 people that were camping when the tornado came ripping through destroying campers, cars and trees. The county has rebuilt the three parks and each one offers a little something different. It’s pretty great place in my opinion.

Claystone Park: Lake Tobesofkee access, large beach, playground, water sports, boat ramps, fishing, disc golf, several small pavilions, one large enclosed pavilion, numerous picnic tables throughout the park and camping. The campground has 45 sites, some tents, back-ups and pull through. Not sure about tents sites but all camper sites have 20/30/50 amp service, water and poor cable service. There are a few sites with sewer. The campground does have a nice bathhouse with coin operated laundry.

Sandy Beach Park: Lake Tobesofkee access, large beach, water sports, fishing, several small pavilions, one large open pavilion, numerous picnic tables throughout the park and a water park.

Arrowhead Park: Lake Tobesofkee access, small beach, water sports, fishing, several small pavilions, one large open pavilion, numerous picnic tables throughout the park, mountain bike trail, playground, boat ramps and camping. The campground has 58 sites, some tents, back-ups and pull through. Not sure about tents sites but all camper sites have 20/30/50 amp service and water; no cable. There are a few sites with sewer. The campground does have two nice bathhouse with coin operated laundry.

    High Falls State Park Campground

    Beautiful

The park is gorgeous and well maintained. It’s a little tight in a place or two but we’re pulling a 40’ fifth wheel and had no problems. We stayed in spot 71 which was a pull through with large lot that was really nice. Fire pit, picnic table and grill as well. I’m uploading a set of maps. You definitely need them as the sites are marked nicely but the areas are not and it’s very confusing. Also if you use maps on a device make sure you add campground because there are a few other places you don’t want to go pulling a rig since the campground is in a state park. Great for hiking, biking, fishing etc. Plain on zero internet or cell coverage. I’m all about the camping adventure but I like to be able to contact the kids if needed. Overall great place.

    High Falls State Park Campground

    Falls

Went to High Falls State Park in January. site number 27. We stayed 8 nights There are two campgrounds- lakeside and River camping area. Lakeside is by High falls Lake and is closest to the falls. River camping is across the street we stayed in River camping area. Nice sites but open to neighbors. Sites included table, fire ring, lantern hook. Some sites are 30 amp some 50 amp and had some pull through sites. After the weekend we were one of only a few in the campground in January. Weather may change this time of year we had a lot of rain one day and freezing temperatures overnight but mostly it was good camping weather. Camp hosts were awesome!!! This park is not far off i-75. Dollar general was a few miles other than that not much around. Very easy hiking trail to waterfalls and several trails along Towaliga River, ruins of an old Mill. There is no swimming in falls or river. Afterr rain falls were flowing very fast. This park also has a swimming pool, mini golf, yurts, boat rentals all were closed in January. Bathhouses were well maintained and had laundry facilities. Phone and TV reception we're good at this park. 8 days was too much here I would recommend 4 to 5 days or as a stopover point but would definitely return here.

    Big Country Camping

    Peaceful, Quiet, Large Campsites

Very nice owners. Very quiet and peaceful location. I had a full hookup site. Owners helped me get situated. Loaned me a water hose.  Felt very safe here. Beautiful sunrise. Excellent cell signal which is important since I work remotely from my camper.

Guide to Jackson

RV camping near Jackson, Georgia offers sites approximately 45 miles south of Atlanta amid the rolling Piedmont region. Summer temperatures typically range from 70-90°F with high humidity, while winter nights can drop below freezing. Most campgrounds remain accessible year-round, though winter visitors should prepare for occasional freezing temperatures and potential wet conditions from November through March.

What to do

Fishing opportunities: High Falls State Park, located 7 miles from Jackson, provides access to the Towaliga River where campers can fish for bass and bream. "We hiked the trails around the ponds and caught a few bass," noted one visitor at Scenic Mountain RV Park.

Historic sites exploration: The nearby town of Milledgeville offers historic attractions including the old state mental hospital. "We were on our own little adventure to see ghosts! We were trying to find a place that was close to the old state mental hospital," reported a camper who enjoyed staying at Scenic Mountain RV Park.

Swimming options: Several campgrounds offer swimming facilities for summer visitors. At Pine Lake RV Campground, "the bathhouse & laundry facilities are super clean! It's quiet & well taken care of property."

What campers like

Pull-through accessibility: Easy-access sites appeal to travelers making overnight stops. "We stopped here as an overnight on our way to our final destination. They were very hospitable and put us into an easy pull through site that we could easily just come in and go out the next morning," reported visitors at Pine Lake RV Campground.

Clean facilities: Well-maintained bathhouses consistently receive positive feedback. "We stayed here for a week over Christmas. The staff is so friendly and the manger and campground owner both live on site! All sites are nicely maintained and the bath houses and laundry are immaculate and private!" noted a visitor at Stone Mountain Park Campground.

Peaceful settings: Many campers appreciate quiet environments for overnight stops. "This park is located just south of Atlanta and is a great place to overnight on your way to a destination, or for more long term stay for out of town workers. Lots of shopping and good restaurants nearby," observed a visitor at Atlanta South RV Resort.

What you should know

Site spacing variations: Camp layouts differ significantly between parks. "The sites are good sized but not a lot of privacy. Sorta like a nice parking lot with grass and trees," explained a camper at Ramsey RV Park, which offers "full hookups, salt h2o swimming pool, cable, bath house, camp fires allowed, pets allowed on leash."

Long-term residents: Several parks accommodate both short and long-term stays. "We live around the corner and came for the weekend to chill and take the kids shopping at Tanger. It's a big park, lots of full time residents so there aren't a lot of spots open, at least during our stay," noted a visitor at Atlanta South RV Resort.

Road noise considerations: Some campgrounds experience highway noise. "This broke down, dilapidated mobile home and RV park costs $750 a month for a 50amp slot. $700 a month for a 30amp spot," reported a long-term resident at South Oaks RV & Mobile Home Park, highlighting that price doesn't always correlate with quality.

Tips for camping with families

Playground access: Some campgrounds offer dedicated play areas. At Scenic Mountain RV Park, visitors noted the facilities include "a playground, in ground pool, club house and the office has a few necessities--the staff was fabulous!"

Swimming pools: Several parks maintain pools for family recreation. "Kids play area, pool, volleyball, horseshoe, fishing. Good spot for a quick stay, or extended," summarized a visitor at Safe Haven RV Park.

Limited entertainment options: Some parks have minimal recreational amenities. "If you're traveling with kids though-there's not much to do other than bike through campground or fish in the pond. But locally there are parks & playgrounds," advised a visitor to Pine Lake RV Campground.

Tips from RVers

Laundry facilities: On-site laundry can be crucial for long-term travelers. "Most every site has ample room and beautiful scenery. Or at least where I was located #67. I like how level the site was. And the stones! So much cleaner," mentioned a visitor at Scenic Mountain RV Park.

Leveling requirements: Some sites require significant adjustment. One camper at Stone Mountain Park Campground noted: "The only downfall was that the trailer needed a lot of leveling. But it was totally worth it. Our site was on the lake. My husband and son enjoyed fishing and paddle boarding right behind our site."

Arrival timing: Plan your arrival carefully at some parks. "We were very pleased with our overnight stay! Spacious pull-through sites with 50/30/20 amp service, with new upgraded electrical. Water and sewer. Our drive took longer than we expected, and the friendly proprietor drove out at 11:15 PM to meet us at the gate," appreciated a visitor at Riverside Estates RV Park.
