    Phipps Park Campground

    Quiet and Beautiful

We stayed in one of the electrical sights along the river. We made use of the fire pit and enjoyed the sunset. The other guests were friendly and we saw a bunch of dogs around.

The property manager was highly responsive when we requested the gate code via email. The gate closes at 7:30 pm but with the code there is no issue.

We did not visit the on-site bathrooms nor did we use the dish cleaning station.

The glamping tents were just that - a tent built onto a platform.

We truly enjoyed our peaceful visit to the park and highly recommend staying along the water.

    Phipps Park Campground

Surprisingly Empty for the Start of Memorial Weekend!

I lucked into this hidden gem of a campground on my way north from Fort Lauderdale.

The staff at the gate was super friendly and I was pleasantly surprised by the availability of sites because I rolled in on the Friday at the start of a holiday weekend.

There is a fishing pier, bike path along the river, boat launch area, communal restrooms, laundry room (although washing machine was out of order), and outdoor dish pit.

I really enjoyed an evening stroll around the ponds where they have "glamping" tents set up.

This campground is built on the site of an innovative stormwater catchment and treatment area, so it had some interesting info to learn about efforts to clean and control stormwater flow in the region.

All in all, can't be upset about a campground with plenty of space and rainbow skies at sunset!

    Surrounded by water lilies...

Adorable, enchanting island camping amongst water lilies, turtles, white ibis’, blue heron and friendly folks. Each of us are seeking “home” in nature. A variety of camping choices here. Staff is friendly and helpful. Nice paved and gravel trails throughout the small, but beautiful property. Near highway 95 for convenience. We brought our queen sized airmatress and it fits with plenty of space for changing clothes inside the adorable platform canvas tent home. We recently watched, “ Hell on Wheels” , a series on Netflix, about people who lived in a canvas makeshift tent cities who worked by day then found comfort in their tent homes and campfires by night. In the ole’ west, folks lived in canvas tents while they built the railroad. We are reflecting on the joy of tent life while discovering the USA. The canvas tents at Phipps Park, Martin County are perfect for group rentals and ideal for beginners. All in all, this is a well kept property, worthy of staying awhile if you are passing through.

    Resting up for the Keys

Desperate for a place to pitch our tent rather than spending $$$ for a hotel, we lucked up when we found VBK on The Dyrt. This quiet campground lined with moss covered oaks, palm trees and long leaf pines was a dream. They are set up mostly for RVs but have a few campsites. Our primitive campsite was at the far back. Large, Quiet, shady and near a water source. We ended up sharing the site with another very pleasant family. Heated pool, nice restroom and laundry facilities. I didn’t have a chance to check out the activities room with bocce ball, shuttle board and horseshoes. It was great being able to camp on our way to Bahia Honda State Park. No hotel for us!

    Real Lion Alarm Clock

We tent camped here. Site small and sandy but location is the key to this KOA. Right next to Lion Country Safari. We are used to hearing birds and frogs when we camp, but here it is lions...and other noises I was not able to identify. Weather great to explore park in late Winter. Kids loved it and we will be back!

West Palm Beach-Lion Country Safari KOA

    Great family campground

This campground that sits just outside of the only drive through animal safari with over 1,000 different types of animals, is great for families to enjoy. This has all the amenities as a typical KOA campground except you get a bonus by hearing the Lions roar in the morning. The campground is gated during evening hours with the gate closing at 10:00 pm, so you will need to get a gate key card with a $20.00 deposit which will be refunded when you turn the key back at the end of your stay. The staff are very friendly and the campground is very clean. They also do a great job with abiding by the CDC guidelines for Covid-19. The Raccoons like to come out in the evening, so make sure you pick up you garbage at night. The rabbits were having fun playing in the primitive camping area every evening and early morning hours. They offer cabin and platform tent rentals for slightly more than a tent site. There are many seasonal campers from the North along with weekend campers trying to escape the everyday stress in their lives. We live 1 hour south of this campground but we will definitely be going back fir weekend trips.

    KOA Campground Okeechobee

A great place for families and kids...

This is the largest KOA in the country...It's a Great campground for families, although I didn't go with one...There is an adult only pool, and a family pool. The Shanty, a bar is right by the adult pool, with entertainment in season and mostly on weekends. I've been there many times in the past, with my TT and my Coach...The sites are mostly large enough for Big rigs...There are upgrades to deluxe sites with brick patios, barbeques, fire pits and chairs. It's a very busy place on the holidays...If you want quiet those days, I don't suggest you go there...There is also a Golf Course, Golf Cart Rental, A nice updated store, A fenced in Dog park...

Guide to Indiantown

Indiantown camping options sit within a subtropical climate zone where summer temperatures commonly reach 90°F with high humidity. Winter nights rarely drop below 50°F, making year-round outdoor activities possible. The area sits at approximately 26 feet above sea level with surrounding wetlands that support diverse wildlife including turtles, birds, and small mammals.

What to do

Fishing at nearby waterways: Martin County's Phipps Park provides direct access to fishing opportunities from piers. "We were able to be right on the water, very nice," noted camper Liz M., who appreciated the waterfront sites.

Walking trails for wildlife viewing: Phipps Park Campground features paved and gravel walking paths through wetland areas. One visitor described the setting as "built on the site of an innovative stormwater catchment and treatment area, so it had some interesting info to learn about efforts to clean and control stormwater flow in the region."

Water activities beyond fishing: The proximity to waterways creates multiple recreation options. At Palm Beach County Park South Bay RV Campground, you'll find "boat dock on site. Full hookups. Spots are spacious," according to visitor Jeff T.

Social gatherings: Regular activities bring campers together at several locations. Camper Mark S. mentions, "Good Sam franchise - ok if you like everyone knowing your business" about Vero Beach Kamp, suggesting the community-oriented atmosphere.

What campers like

Proximity to safari experiences: West Palm Beach-Lion Country Safari KOA offers unique wildlife encounters. A visitor noted, "The lions waking you up in the morning is really pretty cool. LOTS of local channels and good internet."

Spacious sites: Multiple campgrounds offer room to spread out. At Road Runner Travel Resort, one camper observed the "property is clean with paved roads and super large lots that you just don't find anymore."

Clean facilities: Cleanliness ranks high in positive reviews. "The campground is probably the cleanest we had stayed in yet!" reported a camper at Road Runner Travel Resort.

Shade availability: Tree cover matters in Florida's heat. One visitor to Vero Beach Kamp highlighted the "beautiful shaded campground, nice swimming pool, clean and quiet."

What you should know

Tent camping limitations: Traditional tent camping can be restricted at some locations. A reviewer at Phipps Park warned, "There are no tents allowed here. They have tents that are already set up on platforms and they have holes all over the sides and bottoms."

Seasonal occupancy patterns: Many campgrounds fill with long-term residents during winter months. At Vero Beach Kamp, visitors noted a "mixture of overnight and long term campers."

Site types vary significantly: Not all sites offer the same amenities or settings. At Phipps Park, a reviewer observed they "had both concrete pads and gravel sites. Concrete were the nicest."

Cancellation policies: Strict policies can affect travelers with changing plans. One Phipps Park visitor reported, "We had a week reservation here that we couldn't make due to unforeseen rv issues and lost all our money."

Tips for camping with families

Pool facilities for cooling off: Several campgrounds offer swimming options for children. At KOA Campground Okeechobee, a visitor reported, "the family pool had crystal clear water. Place is very clean and staff were not only friendly but really helpful."

Wildlife viewing opportunities: Natural educational experiences abound. Burton M. shared about West Palm Beach-Lion Country Safari KOA: "The Raccoons like to come out in the evening, so make sure you pick up your garbage at night. Security considerations: Some campgrounds provide enhanced security measures. Brighton RV Resort visitor noted, "Saw Seminole police patrolling frequently," which can provide peace of mind for families.

Tips from RVers

Hookup reliability: Electrical connections can be problematic in some locations. A visitor to Brighton RV Resort reported, "30amp breaker overheated and tripped 3 times during our 7 night stay."

Site selection considerations: When glamping in Indiantown, Florida, not all sites offer equal advantages. At Phipps Park, Jenna E. warned that "the campground is pretty much a wide open field, there is no separation between the sites. It is very close to a highway which can be loud."

Off-season availability: Timing affects availability and experience. Tucker B. noted about Phipps Park, "I was pleasantly surprised by the availability of sites because I rolled in on the Friday at the start of a holiday weekend."

Cellular connectivity: For those working remotely while enjoying luxury camping near Indiantown, connectivity matters. One Brighton RV Resort camper reported "TMobile 4 bars" of service during their stay.
