Lincoln Creek

Stayed 10/2 - 10/7/23.  The first 5 designated spots are in the trees, some have a view.  We initially stopped at site 5, dropped our 19' Trailer and went up the road a bit.  As it was late, we opted to stay at site #6 .  We were able to back our camper in and park our 4Runner by the side - only 4 or 5 cars passed by each day that we noticed while we were there.  Nice views out the front and further up the road to the left.  Moose came to visit one morning.  Road wasn't too bad to access the site if you take it slow.  We drove up (w/o camper) past the Portal campground a little over 3 miles to hike the  Petroleum/Anderson lake trail.  We have a stock 4Runner for reference and not a lot of experience on roads like this and it took us about 45 minutes to an hour to drive the 3.2 miles past the Portal campground.  However, the drive was magical, views every inch of the way.  The hike was also pretty easy and the views were spectacular.  Would highly recommend the camping area as well as the hike.  Starilink worked great. Note that after we left here we went to Twin Lakes and with 4 days of leaving #6 they closed Independence Pass which I believe would be necessary to access Lincoln Creek Road.
