Campers regularly cited this as a quiet, accessible spot near Pagosa Springs with good road conditions suitable for sedans. Several guests observed more camping options available further down the road than initially apparent, with developed fire rings at various spots.

Great pull off in the national forest

There are pull-off spots all along the road. We parked and dry camped at one next to a meadow and saw 7 elk in it at dusk. Very little traffic. Beautiful. No Verizon signal but very good T-Mobile signal.

No good spots

Just up the road you get 2 bars verizonnbut zero toward the top. The road is dirt but very very smooth a car will have no issues at all. The problem is there are no good spots. There is a little pond you could tent camping around but all the spots look like they got ruined recently by bulldozer doing log work. They arw all torn up and juat mud pits. If you go all the way to the top ita just a gravel circle trailhead with an okay slanted spot. Definitely not a destination, but if you are passing through just stay in one of the pull offs close to the highway' it doesnt get any better if you go up.

Ideal dispersed

Good options up the roads past the marker

Plenty of wood around the spot I took

Roads in good shape when I was here, no problems in a sedan

Decent Verizon coverage

Spot I stayed at was 37.35608° N, 106.94438° W

There’s a parking spot and beyond somewhat developed clearing behind the trees with a fire ring. Would be good for more than a quick overnight.

No bugs quiet, spread out camp sites

Nice quiet spots we saw maybe 6 or so as we went further on the road back a ways thought at first there were only two or three spots but there are more if you continue down the road. Cows peacefully grazing we will definitely be staying here again. It’s about 15 min to Pagosa.

Sitewe drove to maybe the 6/7 spot.

Remote

There only seemed to be about 2 camping spots. However there is area to just pull off and park. I stayed here 1 night no issues. There is no Verizon phone signal. Stayed at the first large pull off with a stone circle fireplace. It was nice and quite, not a busy road.
